Can't blame insurance companies wanting to get out on California
Please do a report on Vallejo abandoned cars. They currently have over 20,000 reports and only 1 part time officer working on these cases. On my neighborhood block (across from a school no less) are abandoned looking cars with no license plate or expired tags. Guaranteed at least 1 is stolen. It’s so crazy/annoying.

When we took the main highway that encompasses the Big Island of Hawaii, we were surprised to find the occasional abandoned car, some burnt, along the side of the road.

I called the cops in my neighborhood and I told them we have several vehicles with no license plates. They come out and talk to your owner who claims to be selling the vehicles so they leave. They don’t bother asking him what he’s doing with cars with no license plates in a residential neighborhood. It’s bullshit.
In my city in Southern Calif, if they spot a vehicle with even EXPIRED registration, they tow it immediately. Oakland is a city in name only. Sadly, I don't know what to call it. I feel sorry for the residents who are just trying to live their lives.
It's because the cops are corrupt and covering up for the gangs. Anyone with common sense would check the vins etc and find out they are stolen.
Police are not your friends. Police are not there to help. Police are only there to their job as they see their job is to be done.
If the police check the VIN numbers and they come back stolen they should go to an auction so insurance companies can try to recoup losses. If they are totally stripped down send them to a recycler. It doesn't make any sense to leave them on the street and pay to store any of them.

A lot of stolen cars wound up on a narrow avenue in my old neighborhood in Oakland. If you reported an abandoned car blocking a driveway or a crosswalk, it could take a month or more before the car would get ticketed and towed. According to this video, the situation is even worse now.

@@Jimmyxsx All of that take a ton of paperwork to backtrack the insurance/theft reports to clear out all tags associated with the VIN/License especially to ensure they don't have sticky violations, liens etc.
