- Today, we’re torturing my EDC: a Shadow Systems CR920 war poet.

The CR920 is legitimately an amazing firearm and mine now functions flawlessly. After watching it perform for this test I am even more convinced of its reliability. I REALLY wanted to say something bad about it because I’m a grumpy butt after waiting forever for it to get repaired; but Shadow Systems has released a product with which I have nothing to complain about.

I always chuckle when people fill their guns with mud then jaw drop when they dont work as intended.
I highly doubt anyone's going to just do this to their guns and I thought all their tests for perfect
But in a real world scenario I’d definitely be eating chops and salsa

I noticed my CR920 shoots to the left as well, I thought it was an error on my part I’ll have to reach out to shadow systems to confirm if I have a similar issue.
I've had my mr920 for a couple of years and haven't had any kind of problem with it. Now I can't afford a new gun of any kind, but I loved y'all's style of torture test! First one I've ever seen like it! Keep up the great work! 💯👍

I bought a cr920 first thing in the morning on my 21st bday for edc that was Aug 2nd and I’ve carried it exactly 2 weeks because its been with them getting repaired on the two dif occasions. First issue was slide was not cut properly so I couldn’t release the slide stop at all. second issue was failure to chamber at least 3 rounds per mag. Finally get it tomorrow. Funny enough Christian is who’s been emailing me to 😂
Yea, their customer service is great. Customer communication is lacking; for the last month of repairs I just didn’t get a response
@@DeskPop yea that’s very true some of their service members have no idea what there talking about either. I sent them a vid of me putting full pressure in to the slide release lever trying to get it to let go and they said it looks normal 😅 well when they got it in the whole slide had to be replaced
I'm a little disappointed you guys didn't feed it half a cheese burger then fill the barrel with mountain dew. That makes up 100% of my diet and I need to know my edc can survive on my leftovers.

I can't believe the slide was crooked. Sure seems like SS grew too big too fast. My CR920 had light-strikes and off-center strikes so it wasn't fully in battery. I hope they get these things figured out because they're great guns if they work. I'm gonna wait a year...or get another and replace most of the internals with glock parts.
Their MR and DR series guns have had zero issues or complaints anywhere; I’ve probably put 1,000 rds through mr920’s without and problems! The CR is definitely an outlier and it sucks to see the QC issues from them that just show bad testing at the factory
@@DeskPop I had light primer strike with my xr920. Even with 1000 rds through it. Felt like firing pin was sticking. Emailed SS within a week they sent me all new internals to see if that would fix it. It did. The firing pin was completely different than the one that came in the gun. My CS experience was great.
@@DeskPop There is definitely a good amount of issues with their bigger guns but the CR920 specifically has been a huge dumpster fire. That said I have owned two MR920s with no issues. I even put the radian afterburner in my current one and it ran everything with the stock recoil spring even.
That was my plan as well, but then realized I might as well just run a factory Glock at that point.

alot of these comments are turning me off of this gun all together. like SS quality control has gone down tremendously .... i thought i really wanted a CR920 elite or WP edition. but im not seeing the greatest reviews out the box on either.... might just have to lean towards a performance center Shield plus.

It's super easy to fully strip the Glock and clean the striker and trigger assemblies which is a major upside of abusing Glocks. (fuck Beretta and their extensive use of roll pins and tiny custom springs)
Correct, it took me a whole 30 minutes to completely clean this after the video.

How did it shoot after the torture test? Any issues?
I had consistent light strikes after 800rds and sold it.
I did reach out to them again and they aren’t very responsive to us.
I just bought a cr920p to try again and see if mine was just a lemon (I suspect it was)

@@user-gn1cl9ix7p I bought a CR920P and intended to do a video on it. Carried it for a few months and it just wasn’t for me… imo the comp on it didn’t help enough for me to tolerated the extra inch digging into me every time I sat down.
it also inhibited my ability to properly perform drills I may need to do in a defensive scenario because the comp blasts hot gas straight up.

Glad we saw this. My wife was about to run pick one up today at Bass Pro because it seemed like a good upgrade from a G43. She needed something smaller than her G19 and others yet a little bigger with more punch than her LCP MAX. With all the research done on SS we already knew there were some early issues with the barrel design and that they need more breakin time than a Glock. That was ok. But now hearing the length of time they keep a defective gun, lack of communication and lack of knowledge…she may go a different route. It’s amazing to me that they would not replace the entire gun when quality control was obviously lacking on that particular weapon. I’d never trust the rest of the gun to function reliably. They should have shipped a new one immediately and discovered how they messed up on their own time, not yours. That’s bad business when trying to prove your guns are as good as Glock. Fail.
It’s a real shame because I was getting into the idea of trying out the newer CR920X for myself to compare. But I really prefer my carry guns to work and to see better customer service and support. Thanks for this info! And thanks to others for adding comments on the problems with the gun.
I actually bought a CR920P when it came out and now I do not carry it due to reliability issues... that's 0/2 on SS guns for me
@@DeskPop I think she is coming full circle back to something like a P365 (assuming they don’t fire when dropped too lol). There are a few guns that are sized between a G19 and LCP Max to choose from these days. Even FN finally put theirs out.
@@RealtyPro7 p365 is solid. If she’s a purse carrier (which makes me sad but is still good!) have her get the MS model for a manual safety.
I have never had someone not like their p365 yet
@@DeskPop Has never carried a purse in her life lol, but does have a Vertex bag that’s of course made for off body carry when needed. But normally appendix or 3 o’clock carry. She hates MS on anything other than a 1911. That 365 is a strong contender so far although she doesn’t love the trigger. Open carry is normal where we live now so it’s no big deal if a gun prints. She just doesn’t like it if actually trying to CC. Her G19 has an SLR magwell that does stick out a bit because she is small and it can be removed. Got her a 26 as a surprise once but for some reason she doesn’t like them, can’t figure out why. Have you tried the FN yet? I’ve never had one in hand or fired one. It’s supposed to be a micro as well.

According to the picture of the slanted barrel, the tape measure was canted. If you look at the line on the box, it’s not level…
The barrel or slide looks off in the picture still.
I’ve read numerous reports of the SS pistols being unreliable with QC issues. I’m very surprised that John Lovell will put his name on a unreliable weapon

Survived the salsa test automatically won
Just a caveat both my gen4 g19 and my M&P jammed after fucking around with mud. After shaking it out and running some rounds, they worked fine. A lot like this video. I wouldn’t bother taking anything out of torture videos unless you live in blistering cold environments, then maybe do a little hw. Still pretty awesome performance but I see some people get all mixed up by seeing a gun not work caked in mud while the slide is locked back. Tap and rack for the most part. As for shadow systems, I had better luck running Glock mags but some people tell me that the gun was designed for the pmags it comes with but I have 8 pmags and 6 of them earned the red tape which means “range only” for my organization purposes.
I would torture test my gins if I had money to buy 3 of each lol. Thanks for doing it lol

Considering we made this review last year when this model first came out I’m not surprised they’re sorted their CS times finally. I sent it back before even taking it home if you had as good of ears as you have eyes for my outfit.
