I have a few of the somogear PEQ clones. A few new in box. Y’all got to shoot me a text every now and then, I would have sent you a few for keeps homie.

I honestly forget that we can do that for a lot of things and end up buying them all
is this free? maybe I can have some too?
Dude. Im waiting for them to get back in stock.
@@malachijamesmusic I can't find one in stock
@@grady719 thats what im sayin
People on here acting like you don’t have to re-zero your “real” PEQ every time you go to the range 😂. I carried one for years in the Army and shock, it needed to be re-zeroed regularly just like any other piece of equipment.
Yea we figured it was worth mentioning that the real ones are notorious for not holding zero perfectly 💀
Always check zero. It's almost fudd lore but I verify zero on my hunting rifle every season
@@DeskPop
Yeah I appreciate it! Folks who’ve never seriously used them think it’s similar to zeroing their red dot, but let’s be honest most of the older IR laser/illuminator designs, until recently, haven’t needed to improve in that respect because they’ve been gorging themselves on a captive audience of MIL/LEO contracts. So they were ALWAYS shifting zero, luckily in the GWOT we mostly used them for focusing on things and in CQB where that didn’t matter as much.
that’s because real peqs suck a homeless dogs peen.
Agreed, re-zero before mission was standard practice and I can't think of more than a handful of times that everything had maintained zero.
The whispering winds of **just as good** flow by and tingle
Also mad respect for outright saying "hey please sponsor us with NVs"
We are painfully honest schills when we schill. It’s not an easy job but someone has to do it.
Dude for real that was my first thought
i sold my somogear peq 15 on ebay for $270 after seeing the Brass facts follow up video about how the body cracks by the crane plug. got a 30% discount from somogear on their new aluminum body NGAL so I payed like $290 . that thing is freaking amazing ! Its like half the size of the Peq 15 and has a better illuminator and body
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Brass Facts one broke near the picatinny clamp, and isn't that part of the NGAL still plastic?
@@BigJazzHands no the peq has a metal clamp too but the body was all cheap plastic so it broke on the opposite side of the clamp where the body grabs onto your pic rail . The NGAL is all metal so no plastic on the clamp or body . 6061 alluminum i believe . plastic is fine if you use a good polymer but the somo peq15 used essentially nerf toy plastic. i had a 7000 series original Somo Peq but i believe the newer 8000 series serial number peqs use a stronger plastic now but given the choice just get the NGAL its a better unit and way less bulky
Brassfacts was also using a very old unit. They said they had a 3% failure rate at the housing and the mount. To address that, they made an entirely new housing that is nylon reinforced like the real ones. The unit needs to have a serial after 80k to get the new housing.
RUclips disregarded my selection of being notified on this.
Still gonna comment and like. Take that algorithm!
RUclips hates us recently… thank you!!

I love my somogear. My first one mount broke and I sent it back and they sent me a new one with "updated material housing" and this one has worked great no issues
I need the SomoGear Ngal to reach my final form of silly goose
We bought them from paragon armory, which is just a cool guy from California
the NGALs are actually really really good. Im about 3k rounds deep on mine and the zero hasnt drifted at all
@@Kaotix_music clone Ngal has changed my life. No more $3k on Boxes
Good sir with that purchase you will be the pinnacle of silly goose…had to say that
Anything that is mounted on the handguard has a pretty high chance of losing zero over a relatively short period of time, regardless of cost or quality. It's just kind of the nature of mounting stuff to a handguard...
Hydra mount, keyed handgaurds have enter the chat
The jakl uses a monolithic upper unlike a ar.
@@TheCamaro5 that's better, but you're still not going to hold a precision zero with anything you mount to the handguard for multiple reasons. Material flex and thermal expansion are the 2 biggest. If the handguard is attached to the receiver and to the barrel close to the muzzle, that would help a lot, but it would mess with the barrel. For reference, very roughly, about 0.004"(thickness of a sheet of paper) movement in a sight translates to roughly about 1 MOA of change on target. The only places to mount anything for a repeatable precision zero on any ghetto blaster are: 1: directly on the barrel 2: on the receiver(not quite as good as directly on the barrel, but really really really close to it). If you're totally cool with Minute of Man (MOM) at about 100 to maybe 200, mounting on the handguard is perfectly fine. I'd firmly put lasers in that category.
@@DeskPop yeah that actually looks like the best solution if you want a laser to hold it's zero precisely and repeatedly over time. Might even be able to stretch out the laser's max effective range to 300 or 400 and keep it minute of man or tighter. Not the kind of thing I'd pick a laser for, but, it'd be cool if it could do it.
Both the NGAL and the Peq 15 can easily be modified to make the caps have a diffuser in them. Im a cinematographer, so I had some actual diffusion material laying around, used a razor blade to cut a small circle and split open the PEQ15 cap, replaced the black nub in there with my homemade diffuser and it works exactly liek a real diffuser cap (I think they even use the same stuff I used to make them). What you can do is get a milk jug and use that because it works exactly the same and repeat what i wrote above. For the NGAl its a litttttle different. The black nub inside looks like its sealed inside but its not. Youll see a seem on a front where if you push from there rear itll splt open and you can do the same thing (To mention: this is in terms of the illuminator for close range/CQB diffusion)
To the mention of guys checking zeros on real ones...yes. In the army, not only do we check zero before each use of our rifles on our lasers...we check zero on EVERYTHING. Mil guys might chime in on this because when I got out and started shooting with civilians, i noticed wed go to the range and id get ready to check zeros and they would just start shooting lol. Im like "uhhh, are we not checking zeros?" and theyd say "We do we have to do that? I zeroed this last year!" and i would have a heart attack inside hahahaha. You should check your zeros before every single range day. Proves your zero is still good and you walk away from that range day knowing all your lasers and optics are ready to go for use if they need to be used. IN afghanistan we would check zeros the day before every operation aswell
We shoot constantly and have never had a zero shift on one of our dots, but I would say that we still “confirm” zero once a month or so. Buying good quality stuff goes a long ways.
Worth noting They also take Ngal parts so if you don’t want modify anything you can just swap Ngal diffuser on!
@@DeskPop Yes they do, sadly i wasnt ablet to find NGAL diffuser caps because i think everyones buying them up for the Somogears XD
As to the zeroing comment...i should have phrased better...we always "CONFIRM" zero. Not just re-zero. But the way the army handles stuff thinking its totally indestructible...youd be surprised some guys aimpoints and ACOGs actually arent zeroed the next time we went to use them
@@DeskPopit should be noted that the real NGAL diffuser caps are about the price of the somogear NGAL lol
I guess next you need to find nigh vision for the poors next. Honestly, even if its just a single monotube or a rifle mounted solution, I'm interested to see how well it would work. The Poor Man's death trooper.

I put 500 rounds through my PSA Sabre with Somogear PEQ and it didn't seem to shift significantly. Indoor range disclaimer.
Maybe in this case instead of "buy once, cry once" it should be replaced with "buy once, then just buy again cause it's only 500 bucks"
I got the FMA version, which costs around the same directly from china. Its being performing really good, ive never had to re zeroed mine, but then i only shoot close distance. The only issue is the battery spring i assume, cos it flickers sometimes, all i did was use a small magnet and stick it at the positive part of the battery, and its all good. No more issues.
Rubber o ring… problem solved.
@MH_6160 O-ring didnt work for me. It further prevents contact of the battery.
Glad I got mine when ppl 1st started taking about them. Seems like ppl keep saying they’re sold out lol.
Just another data point, but where I did see issues was the parasitic battery drain even set to off, and the loose button plug
We think that was an old version, because we heard about that but haven’t experienced it at all on any of ours!
Had one for 2 years. Still working. Still holding zero. Obviously it’s not being abused but it is however being shit fairly regularly.
Best thing about Somogear is they continually improve the product. If there is gripes and concerns they normally address them in the next batch.
I've noticed this too, every new version seems to be better.
Awesome video, if you haven’t could you do a video on the best “poor man’s” knockoff NVG
Unfortunately for us right now, anything non-digital is only getting more and more expensive!!
We make less than $60/video off RUclips ads so unless we can get a company to send us the Nods it will be awhile before we can purchase them just to review. Tell your favorite companies to send us stuff 😭😂
Mike broke the first airsoft game I took it out on. Windage illumination knob broke clean off (no I didn’t over turn it) still had plenty of room to turn for adjustment,
I think I did mention my first version had garbage turrets, which is why I went to get more models to get a proper gauge of what they are. The ones we got from a newer batch are drastically different; upsettingly better quality.
@@DeskPop I got mine 4 weeks ago, used it 2 weeks ago for the first time. It broke….. maybe it wasn’t a new batch
I love fast motion Joe !!😘
POV you buy a real FP gray market PEQ for $2500 and its asshole falls out when you remove the crane plug 😵
Couple buddies and I got em when BF put the video out a year or 2 ago. They're all broken now. Mostly the mounts cracking and chipping out.
They’ve since switched to a new material, and if you reach out they’ve been known to replace them
How did you mount the PEQ to the shotgun? @8:36, anyway great vid, love your channel!
Our barrel clamp has a pic rail- you can find them on Amazon pretty easy!!
Weird random thought but the lighting at 11:31 reminded me of like the artificial lighting of like a Wes Anderson movie or just movies when they use that fake day lighting
The camera we use does great work!!
The way you mount it matters. Using a hydra mount keeps it further away from the recoil
I just like how easy it is to find my dot with the goggles on with the Hydra
Keeps it further away from the bore, too. Which is retarded.
250 dollar laser on a 1000 dollar mount
@@Random_Quads I think with military discount I paid like $500 shipped with magnifier mount
I always check if my laser is working by looking straight into the emitter and turning it on - direct eye-laser contact is the only way to ensure your laser is working correctly. 👍🏼
You can test the IR this same way, you will know if it’s on because you’ll stop being able to see!
I got a “Ade Advanced Optics Tactical Green IR Laser Combo” off Amazon for $109 like a year ago so far it’s been alright😂 holds zero from what I’ve noticed but I’ll definitely be looking to switch to one of these somogear ones because that ADE is just to bulky and the mounting screw has about stripped out from moving it from 1 rifle to another. Totally would never just switch to somogear because they look way better or anything. 👀 Real night vision vs the cheapy digital Chinese monocular I have and a real laser system would be nice in the future but to be able to see and aim at night for under $1000 is better than not being able to at all for me atleast.
JEEZ the diffustion filter is so much lol, fire video though

how can you say its off...? you took the peq off and put it on. i never have a perfect zero after put an optic back on

Yes we need them for reviews and stuff not for just looking at stars that’s fornsure
Think bigger; need pvs 31 and gpnvg for reviews and 'stuff'
You can make a cheapo diffuser cap for the illuminator by replacing the black plastic with milk jug
Whats that pressure pad mount for your Gucci/NGAL rifle??? Definitely makes me wonder about running a slimmer non/1913 upper rail
Their pressure pad actually comes with an M-Lok adapter so I’m running that.
It’ll also take any real Ngal parts/switches you find onljne
What I've done to mine is open them up and reinforce the potting because they hardly pot them lol
I will say the newest version of Ngal is potted extremely well
I personally really like my NGAL. It may not be "just as good" maybe it is, but it'll do until i can find a grey market NGAL or order one in on a buddy's agencies letterhead 😅

We have heard of them but haven’t gotten hands on any to test
You shot it on a pump 12g then removed it and re installed it on top of a sightmark and claim it’s off 3 click because of shooting
I think it depends on batch. Mine has held up and I know people with similar experience. Others have seen cracks
how can you check the accuracy when you dont have an actual sight mounted and you need to be resting it at 100m minimum.....you have a Jakyl piston type hence all the heat stays forward..either run gloves or a tommy grip or both
