You folks at Shadow Systems have moved ahead of the pack, so to speak, in my eyes. Thanks Trevor. I purchased 2 DR920’s. One for me and 1 for my youngest son. (25 years old ex army). He took both pistols to the range Saturday. Called me while he was there saying “Dad, these pistols are trash”. They won’t cycle more than 2 rounds without malfunctioning. I told him to calm down. I asked what ammo did you bring? He said the cheap ball ammo. I responded with: “ I told you that these weapons are tight and you’ll need to lube ‘em 1st and shoot the hot rounds out of them. Shoot about 4 mags. He just couldn’t understand why he’d need to shoot his “premium ammo” ($$) to break them in. Well, number 1 I paid for both guns and I paid for the ammo and you should have learned something from being in the military. Train with the SAME AMMO you’re carrying everyday. Yes it’s a LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE but your life is priceless. I get his logic to some degree and I understand that some people can’t budget for that but you don’t buy a Porsche and put $40 tires on it to break in the motor. I’m 60 years old and I’ve learned this the hard way. If you train with weaker ammo you’re building muscle memory whether you realize it or not. When faced with a crisis situation and you engage with your “hot stuff” things are going to feel different and potentially cause you to glitch. THAT COULD POTENTIALLY COST YOU YOUR LIFE. This Gun is definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!! I believe this has become a marketing nightmare. It’s impossible to produce a high end product with tighter tolerances then explain to people you’re going to need to break this Gun in by shooting 200 to 300 rounds. If you say it up front you loose customers and if you don’t say it you get a customer service tsunami. MY THOUGHTS: Hang tough with your mission statement. Things will eventually come around when enough of us educate our friends and family about this weapon. When you reach the 500+ rounds stage this weapon is SWEET. Just bought mine from the GlockStore/Nashville 1/9/23. A pre cleaning and a 100 round post cleaning of the CR920 . All good. Committed to my daily carry. Been using Lucas for years. My box did not have any in it.
I appreciate very much the advice about keeping thistles a little bit wet. From my very first gun I was advised to keep them a bit dry, and I swear I could hear them squeaking sometimes.
Nice how to video. Question for you. I have around 3,000 rounds on my pistol. When should or at all, I should do a total breakdown of my pistol to clean everything?
If you use heavy lube on a Glock it will migrate into the firing pin channel. Take the cover plate off and wipe that channel out pretty frequently. I have seen a LOT of gunk and lube in this channel on heavily lubed Glocks. Also, gun oil disappears/evaporates in as little as 20-30 days. Gun grease, on the other hand, will stay on a gun for at least a year. My police dept switched to gun grease, because it kept the guns perfectly lubricated all year long until the next qualification. We found guys that lubed with oil has COMPLETLY dry guns most of the year because they didn't lubricate every month, as needed, when you use a gun oil. Gun greases is much more forgiving and last a lot longer. I think its better to use grease in most cases, unless you live in arctic conditions.
Ima be real with ya Trevor. 8k through my mr920 and maybe cleaned it once when i first got it. Ive had possibly 3 malfunctions due to cheap ammo primers.

Would you recommend cleaning off the loctite compound and re-applying a new coat or should I just leave whatever is still there? I did a cleaning and still saw a healthy amount left over and didn't know if I should replace it or not. Would you also recommend using the loctite compound as a long term lubricant for the connector?
Its a never seize compound. Use WD 40 and a small brush to get it all out/off. Re lubricate using Slide-Glide Lite grease (Amazon $7.95). Oil on the connector. You can use Brake Clean as a solvent, but it can be quite harsh on some finishes. WD 40 is a better SOLVENT and moisture displacer than it is an actual lubricant.
Is the Loctite 466863 C5A Paste in the 25mL stick the exact same thing as the 8008 C5A? On Amazon the 8008 is $40 for a whole can and the stick is only $15 but probably enough for my needs.

There's a break-in period of around 200 rounds. So that failure to feed I'm not personally worried about. You can have issues with any firearm if you practice enough with them. I use boretech on my rifles as well. By no means am I an expert but most of the time threw my barrels I use kroil and a bore snake.

30 years experience. After 3 or 4 rounds any excess oils will be blown or burned off. I like it wet also!
Do you need to put some lube inside the barrel?
How often should someone clean their gun to keep a somewhat good quality gun?
