- Homelander (Antony Starr) and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) 'save' a bank from a lone shooter.
From Season 1, Episode 3: "Get Some"
Watch The Boys on Amazon Prime Video: AAN.SonyPicture...
Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? When it's the powerless against the super powerful, the Boys head out on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. Based on the comic book series of the same name.
#TheBoys #KarlUrban #AntonyStarr #SceneCity
The fact that everyone knows they're not affected by bullets and yet they still use the person shooting first as an excuse is absolutely priceless 😂.
Like most action films it needs the police to be retarded in order to work.
Someone might get hit by a ricochet. Taking the gunman out happens even when cops aren't in danger themselves.
its more about intent i suppose
People shoot at Superman all the time. Criminals are stupid

Love how he waits for her at the elevator and then just continues the conversation

Thank God Superman had the right parents and was raised good.
Spot on, every other comment here is just right wing psychos confessing they would behave like Honelander if they had powers.

Homelander is the most accurate depiction of how a superhuman would turn out to be.
A súper human without the right upbringing
@@mineralgrey8332 doesn't matter the upbringing, the inherent selfishness and pride will start to seep out once the rules and morals of normal humans don't apply the respective supe. Even if he/she was brought up with love and compassion, they will at most be nice towards their loved ones, never the whole world or outside of their immediate circle.
@@daviddashi3422 it's the nature vs nuture debate, but in general, upbringing matters very much. Even in this verse, it's made pretty clear Homelander's so fucked up BECAUSE of how he was "raised". A lab rat without any kind of parent, love, or guidance.
Nah. Some people are generous and kind, some people are selfish and evil,.most are somewhere in between. Doesn't matter if you're filthy rich or filthy poor. Just how you were raised, how your brain is wired and the experiences you had growing up.
But he also drives the point of why Superman must remain an inspiring figure and not some gritty superhuman that is burdened with the weight of the world.
Literally no one talks about how this shooter was not even a real crazy - likely a setup for queen Maeve to catch and parade on TV (like she said). That's why he surrenders so easily and walks towards her almost welcomingly. He is basically a part of PR crew.
I dont think a PR guy could get paid enough to get shot at by police
@@BlakeFerret maybe they hired some guy from the street with criminal record for good cash. Someone who breaks the law and risks his life for money on regular basis anyway.
In real life, he's called a patsy.
Exactly. I doubt criminals would want to be this exposed in a world where superheroes exist, at least without being prepared against supes like Frenchie was.
@@BlakeFerretyeah or get punched in the face by maeve

@@baeclaus388 Yeah I'm not even that strong and I can do it, the gun weighs around 10-14 pounds with ammo depending on attachments. If you do even a quick search you will find that 5.56 has little to no recoil and that's even before you can put a compensator on.
“You’re not the real heroes! I’m the real hero. I’m the real hero”.
The opposite of what he said to the cop two years earlier. Homelander slowly transforming over years is brilliant. No forced character development. This show is perfect

Homelander is the most heinous fictional character I’ve ever seen. Kudos to Starr and the writers for bringing him to life
He's definitely the most interesting. I'd say the most heinous, at least to me, is Nolan, aka, Omniman, from the Invincible series. At least Homelander can be appealed to. In a lot of ways, he's like Donald Trump. Massage his ego and you can at least contain him. Omniman is smart, ruthless, has his marching orders and once he starts killing, look out. He immediately kills all of his teammates, because he knows they're the only ones who could stop him and the fights are "real", in the sense that there's no plot armor. If Superman fought Batman, the "fight" would last 1/10th of a second. So when Omniman fought Darkwing, sure enough, it wasn't a fight.
NERDS!!!

Why would anyone in a world of superheros commit crimes like this. It's just a death sentence. There is no winning
People eho want death but are too afraid to do it themselves
Because they don't know what Homelander or other supes are really like. The media portrays them like Superman so they wouldn't expect supes to kill them if they were caught
He comes out hands up cuz he thinks he gonna get ARRESTED not ganked 😂
its a PR set up, not a real crime. thats why at the start hes aiming for the super heroes and not the police
People do it in real life too

Bruh I’m drinking too this
Liver failure?
Am dead.....
No fighting skills and no hardwork whatsoever
Homelander simply breaks in and kills out simply by staring into the enemy
And unlike real life where a guy with a gun is dangerous, they literally can't hurt Homelander. He doesn't need to kill any of them. He could walk up to every bad guy, take their guns and carry them to jail they couldn't do shit to stop him.
You must see the homelander vs soldier boy and Billy butcher fight scene
@Matthew Nusca He does it because he is a psychopath.
@Matthew Nusca He probably though that guy was Yamcha.
@@fieldy409 that's the point, he is so emotionally damaged and insecure that he needs to kill people just to flex his powers.
At least Homelander was gentle with the bad guy while he was dying.
No he’s psychotic. He’s a kid pulling heads off of bugs.
Think it was more of a “Homelander getting off” kinda deal. It wasn’t an act of consideration but rather a more sinister one of him just wanting to bust a nut.
Similar to Stormfront talking about how she “loved to watch the light leave their eyes”
Crushing a man's heart while he's still conscious is not gentle. That's agonizing torture, lmao.
@@controlman7490 How would you know? I happen to know traumatic levels of blood loss aren't "agonizing torture" at all, and indeed feels like slowly falling asleep
Season 1 makes you realize how unhinged Homelander has become in Season 3.
Yeah he was practically civil here
I almost feel he was more mentally competent in the early seasons, he actually thought things through and seemed more conniving. The later seasons seemed to have dumbed him down and just amped up the psychopathy
@@oroboros88 I 100% agree, and I liked Season 1 better because of that. More subtle

Superman-like characters have had many kills by punching through their targets' bodies. Superman, Omni-Man, Homelander, etc
The jerk got blood all over Homelanders glove. How ungrateful can a person get?

You can fulfill that wish easily on youtube.
1:23 How Homelander know so fast where the hell is 31? His eye is super fast too? Damn.
He has higher senses on top of his other abilities. he can feel your pulse, know your blood type, what you had for breakfast, even identify old mostly healed wounds with his vision. Not a long shot to say he could count up that many floors that fast, probably did so while he was flying up until he hit 31.

I just realized Maeve is pissed he didn't fly her up with him
I think this is the only time the series where Homelander apologizes 3:17
With great power, comes great responsibility. Also why Batman had his Agamemno Contingency plans.
"Superheroes" like Homelander is exactly the reason why
- They introduced Sokovia Accords in CIVIL WAR to control the Avengers.
- and why Batman studied The Justice League to prepare battle contingency plans in case something goes wrong.

Idiotic comment of the year.
Funny thing is.. if they had just let things kept going as they were, Homelander probably would not have gone fully crazy
Thats the point tho. It was only a matter of time. Homelander was a ticking super powered time bomb.
Homelander's mental state is fragile. He's very close to going off the deep end and in S4E4 we see the trauma he's been through. As said above already he's a ticking bomb

Na he was just raised in a cold lab and expiramented on his whole childhood- hence why he’s a sociopath that yearns for love. It’s sad but it’s totally voughts fault especially since they got rid of his real father.
She should probably be training against supes. Shirtless big dudes don't really cut it.
In the comic Queen Maeve wouldn’t be doing that; she’d be banging all three guys at the same time instead.
With how their world is set up I assume the reason they’re using such muscled yet normal men to fight her is so she can train her fighting style and reflex’s to deal with normal criminals. Most of the time they’re being flashy for PR rather than effectiveness
Could be they are failed supes. Can heal broken bones or organ damage, but aren't strong enough to be A-list supes. But very useful as sparring partners the same way most boxers' sparring partners are fighters who were good, but not good enough to win.
It actually makes sense when you realize that there aren't any super villians. The company creates and manages all the Supes. She is also top tier in terms of power and durability so even if she faces another supe she is going to over power them. Literally in the show we have seen 3 supes who might be able to take her in a straight up fight. A rogue supe is going to be facing several of the 7 including Homelander. What she is practicing is fighting normal people in groups and looking group doing it which is her job.
Interesting how the Supe powers work in this show. Homelander is incredibly strong, able to punch through humans (and indeed walls, etc), fire assault rifles one handed with no recoil yet he can also clap an ordinary human on the shoulder in a friendly way without breaking every bone in their body. Either he is normal 99% of the time and his super power kicks in reflexively when he needs it, or he spends 99% of his existence like a bull in a china shop trying incredibly hard not to break anything - doors, chairs, tables, people...
Bull in a china shop. He has to controll himself 24/7. We've seen it in flashbacks. He hugs his teacher and breaks her spine.
@@fatallyfatcat5274 That fits in with Starlight taking a .50 cal round she didn't see coming. But it also implies a pretty horrific existence for supes.
Doesn't make any sense. If you look at guys like Eddie Hall who are already crazy strong in comparison to normal humans you don't see them walking like a bull in China either.
@@erikerikslol Eddie hall is nowhere near homelander’s strength, he’s many orders of magnitude inferior. And what makes you say he doesn’t take extra care because of his strength? I can almost assure you he does in fact make efforts to not accidentally hurt people.
same way you can pick up an egg, or a bowling ball.
It’s kinda weird (in a good way) seeing how Homelander and Maeve did get along at the start of the show
And even then, Maeve obviously despises him. But she was a very good actress.
I like when Homelander mentions Stan Edgar's blood is "like engine oil", showing how Stan is never intimidated by homelander.
It seems like he was implying Edgar is close to getting a heart attack. Blood shouldn't be as thick as engine oil
This reference is medical not personality. Edgar is on anticoagulants (commonly known as blood thinners) to prevent heart occlusions, which leads to myocardial infarction (heart attacks). Homelander knows Edgar is one blood clot from serious injury and/or fatality (death).

people who are impervious to bullets are required to manufacture justification for violent engagement, when minutes prior they were casually strolling up to the active crime scene?
hahaha alright
A person shooting weapons at you with intent to kill is still trying to kill you, just because they are too stupid to realize that their feeble attempts wont work doesn't mean their justification is any less. (Legally speaking). Morally they could just fly that guy out in cuffs and it'd be fine.
What's the point of training against humans if you're a supe? Wouldn't supe on supe drilling be more effective?
It’s show business, man. Give the public a show. Profits go up for Vought.
They cant murder All criminals all the time they need to be reminded how to put on showy fights vs humans (without killing them)
I actually like the way the Boys showcases the powers of its heroes (Homelander, Maeve, etc.) much more than the way the recent DC movies do with their hero equivalents (Superman, Wonder Woman). DC with its big budget for spectacular (but also ridiculous) scenes of destruction and powers that are practically limitless just makes these movies and its heroes seem... stupid. In one scene, Wonder Woman is dodging or deflecting bullets but in other scenes it's pretty clear she is impervious to weapons much more powerful than guns. I hope the producers and screenwriters of the Boys can keep the show going for a long time (with an engaging storyline) because it's so much more interesting than anything DC has to offer on the big screen.
He said nothing about fights being great or not. He says they're not logically connected and don't feel fair. Sometimes characters win with ease against stronger enemy and come close to losing against someone formidable, but still weaker. And that's true. Superheroes the same powers, always, at best they use some new devices. But they keep facing stronger opponents, basically gods, and still winning somehow. It makes you think each fight is pointless, as it ends not the way it should, but the way that's more favorable. While The Boys show you how it really could happen, like, Translucent beating the crap out of people and then being defeated by getting an electricity shock. You won't see him tank hits that really should hurt him and come back to fight.
Actually one of wonder womans weakness is bullets she can get shot that's why she blocks. Her energy field has a net or chain mail structure. So can block blunt force but can be pierced.
The quick cuts in the opening fight are so bad
Then: 3:51
homelander: what you say??

I would love it if the writers of the show would take Homelander's powers away for a season and explore how being forced to be "regular" would affect or change him. I'm sure Antony Starr could do something interesting with that.
Everything from 0:38 to 2:14 is literally the sort of stuff people gather by the water cooler to gossip over.
Homelander is probably one of the most complex characters in TV history 😂 sometimes you want him to win or find some sort of redemption, other times he scares tf out of you with his psychotic approaches. Like he literally punched a hole into that guy stomach while wearing red gloves and still felt disgusted with the blood on his own gloves 😂😂 love to hate him, hate to love him!
I like tha way he just waited and started back monologue
This is the least brutal death for anyone in the show killed by Homelander.
I wish Maeve wasn’t leaving the show
Better for her to have a good ending now than get a worse fate later
Jesus I always forget how incredibly horrendous that training scene with Maeve is
1:49 Antony's accent slips.
Homelander literally watches the life drain from the shooters eyes
Jesus Homelander you can't say that about A-Train- Oh oh no wait he meant a FOOT race

Batman in the boys would be epic to watch!🔥🔥🔥
Tek Knight
He’d definitely would try to take em all out after seeing how they handle things most of the time
In the comics those buff dudes would be tag teaming maeve while she downs gin
Homelander’s muscle paddings are getting less and less as the season progresses
Those dudes in the beginning must have some sort of low level super strength or durability. Otherwise she would have killed them.
Homelander is the real hero
My dog just went nuts after Homelander's whistle. She can feel he's evil 🤣
Why does anyone do anything illegal in a world with the 7?
I always liked this early version of homelander. I always felt like he should have said. Throwing him out the window would have been more theatric. Fist thru the chest is just so overused. Gotta remind them. I can fly. They can't. I also think Honelander needed to maim more people instead of flat out killing them. Just to kinda show his superiority. Like I can imagine him shaking someone's hand. Then holding on too tight until he breaks someone's hand turning it into mush.
i feel like they can make a whole series of pre "the boys" drama and get away with it.
it's in the works lol, Vought Rising
There's literally no rear sights on that rifle.
It’s extra fucked how Homelander kills the guy just so he can watch the life leave his eyes. Its so mindless and unnecessary and he still just does it anyways it’s so disturbing the way the present him I love it lol
I really like homelander in first season. Eventhought he is jerk , he still care about member of seven that disappear.
Poor guy was _hey I surrender to justice now_ except Homelander isn't that type of guy. Really, isn't that guy.
All the shooting that guy did... without a rear sight. C'mon, you have to have at least one competent armorer on set.
Wonder why no one made a parabolic shield type suit say made of many nanoshieids with ability to focus any significant energy beam back at its sender if need be
