When hughie walked closer to him, HL looked at his heart. He was surprised because Hughies blood pressure was normal. Hughie wasnt scared of him

Homelander's smile seems wholesome, but his eyes are cruel and pitiless.
The thing about homelander being such a complex charecter is that you really never know what he's gonna do next. He's so interesting to watch every second
Complex maybe...but the thing that makes him positively terrifying is that HE doesn't know what he's going to do next.
He is not really complex. He is just great. He is literally a baby with a big ego and is the strongest. That's it.

All the actors in The Boys are incredible but Homelander absolutely makes the show. I don’t think I’ve ever been so genuinely unnerved by a character before. Its not even the extreme stuff he does, its how absolutely perfectly hes portrayed and how well he plays even the smallest expressions and body language. Its incredible
I like to think even Homelander didn't expect the applause he got when he killed that dude at the end.
The man went from being Happy to Anger, Confused, Worried and back to Happy/Relieved in a few seconds.

Its his humanity that makes him so scary. Unlike most sup characters that are one dimensional I've known someone like him.

It's mostly mothers that go on undeserved powertrips.
What sets Homelander apart from the majority of sups is mainly his upbringing.
Most sups (Superman being the prime example for obvious reasons) that are represented in media have some sort of morality instilled into them or has something/someone that keeps them in line.
However, Homelander has essentially the complete opposite. Being raised in an uncaring laboratory and then allowed to do nearly whatever he wants with next to no negative consequences caused him to become the narcissist that we know and love

Homelander is written so well, there’s no doubt about that, but the way Anthony Starr brings him to life is terrifying. Anything can be scary on paper, it’s different when it’s real on screen. From Banshee to The Boys, he’s deserving of many awards.
