I'd take my chances with Hitler himself over Homelander.

How exactly? The terrorists that killed the co-pilot and had a gun to the head of the pilot weren't out to 9/11 some populated area?
Honestly, I don't think this was HL'S fault. That terrorist should have never been let into the cockpit, and the fact that he was in there, there wasn't much else that could be done.

When you exert force on an object, that object exerts a reaction force of identical magnitude back on you, so if he isn’t supported on anything, he would just move down instead of the plane going up because the plane is heavier. It’s like trying to lift someone when you’re in deep water.
Edit: To all the people replying to me, I was just explaining what the character meant with that line. I know full well that the laws of physics don't apply to Homelander most of the time, but I think this is just the writers arbitrarily choosing when they do, to add some form of realism (with the flipside of being inconsistent), rather than Homelander being lying.

This one incident plays a huge role in Maeve’s character arc.
People are missing the fact that he WANTED the plane to go down, that was his plan from the beginning (watch the show to know why, besides being the psychopath he is). He killed the first terrorist without issues, he has insane control on those laser eyes, from being able to use them to heat up a bottle of milk, to be able to cut through steel. a really nice detail is that he literally has control over the strength of his laser too. the way he hit the first hijacker in the chest and it didnt go thru him, he couldve so easily done that with the one in the cockpit but was too reckless to think about it properly
I love that he didnt say he *couldnt* do 123 trips, it just sounded like he didnt want to.
He could have flown outside the plane, lasered the wings off, grabbed the tail and lowered it to the ground.
He could have had people jump out of the plane and he catches them as the fall into the ocean.
He could have had everyone move toward the back of the plane, lasered the front part off, grabbed the second part and lowered it to the ground
would make sense only if grabing a plane would not tear it apart completely. But other than that good idea. Lasering wings off would kill any lift to the plane which means nose would go down right away and the rest of a plane would tear apart from speed. jumping people out of a plane would take a lot of time impossible to do with 123 people beside nobody would jump out safely because there is an enourmous risk of hitting the plane itself. But let's say he made somebody jump out succesfully. Now he has to grap this person in the air and slowly decrease speed before hitting water oh, and also hope a person can swim. Now he only needs to do it 122 times, and plane gets furter away with every person he does it. and of course it would fall down before he would be able to save first one, so another great idea. Homelander was right there was literally nothing he could do. Save two people maybe or three that's all.
As strong as Homelander is, he could've carried 10 people at a time and got them to safety before the plane even hit the ground. Like you said, he just didn't want to.
He could have definitely tried to save at least a couple of kids and Maeve could have sacrificed herself for at least one child. But that’s exactly the point, because this is not a superhero movie…
@@siemniak He could do the Iron man 3 chain of people thing
- he could have gone underneath the plane and flown up (this may not "lift the plane" but it would surely help slow the plane down for a survivable crash landing)
- He could have had everyone put their floatation devices on, pair up in groups of 8 and take them down one group at a time. (one person grasping onto each of his legs, one person on each arm, one person around his neck, one person around his waist and he grips 1 floatation device in each hand. he does this 15 times and everyone's saved.)
or I still think if everyone got into the rear of the plane, he lasers off the front part and flies towards it as hard as he can to slow down the speed of descent (if he can fly faster than an explosion, then he must be capable of generating some serious force with his flying so I'd say he'd be able to at LEAST slow down a falling rear of a plane).
- He could have gone inside the cockpit, and flown upwards so the plane bellyflops into the water or something.
there's always a solution.

He could've done Queen Maves idea and at least saved a couple people.
I mean we don't know how fast he is,
But he was able to get a baby and a man out of a exploding House, the second it exploded, so I'd say he's pretty fast.
You know, if he didn't laser every enemy, they could have saved the plane.
That's his habit, lazy.
It pains a slothful man to feed himself. It pains Homelander to not just shoot people with lazers.
If they had been able to stop the terrorist holding the lone surviving pilot at gunpoint without killing him the pilot could have flown the plane to safety. Or once the terrorist killed the pilot,if Homelander grabbed him and killed him without using his heat-vision if they knew how to fly a plane, they still could have saved the passengers.
But neither one of them knew how to pilot a plane, anyways so after Homelander killed the terrorist with his heat--vision and destroyed the controls, they were pretty much screwed because NOW how could they have saved the plane if they couldn't even pilot it
and if he can't lift the plane?
@@JR-ju3kj if he didn't laser every enemy and didn't destroy the controls, there could have been two ways, they could have slowed the plane down and keep it flying steady and then fly them out one by one, or homelander could return to the ground and bring a pilot to the plane.

That baby wasn't Homelander's though. The only person he saved from the explosion was Billy.

I really think this was the final straw for Maeve. You can hear the pain in her voice each time she says Please. (Props to the actress!)
2 things i like about homelander as a villian
1 he was trained with pr talk that would sound great from a motivational speaker but because he just passively says it it makes him come off cold and creepy.
2 he does have some solid logic. True saving people is cool because he wants the high approval. But he would rather have everyone murdered then someone tell the world that he failed. That honestly makes him an amazing villian because hes rather evil but doesnt see himself as evil. Also you could try to make him look good without context and you could do it.
Honesty his pragmatism is as terrifying as his brutality
@@CrossoverFan4life its funny even though we do seem to want a simple world without too much emotion the people who run on facts and coldness are the scariest there are.

The extras in this scene did an amazing job expressing how terrifying and stressful this situation would be. This is probably some of the best acting I've seen from extras in a movie or show. Lol could have easily saved everyone but decided not to because its too much work for him. 1 way i think he could save them was by using belts to carry 5 people at a time 1 belt everyone looped together by two holes in their pants and they fly down at 30 to 40 miles per hours before going back up to do it again with two hands he could have even used queen to carry two extra belts.

With how high the plane was… he definitely had enough time to take them all to safety…
He’s so lazy
The series makes Homelander some kind of protagonist while also being the main antagonist
He and Butcher. But just notice how well written they both are and the duality. Butcher is the leader of The Boys. Homelander is the leader of the seven. They both came from a dysfunctional upbringing. Billy’s father abused him to make him stronger and Dr. Vogelbeuam experimented on John to be the strongest man in the world. Through all their pain and misery they both looked to a mother figure. Butcher looked to Mallory, Homelander looked to Stilwell. They both just seeked approval from them. A new person comes into their team. Hughie. Starlight. They are welcomed in with kindness at first but once the two enter a relationship things change. Butcher questions Hugh’s loyalty, Homelander threatens to kill Starlight for being involved with an enemy. The writing is absolutely superb 👌 and the rivalry between these two is so fascinating to watch.
