- A judge in a Kentucky town was shot and killed Thursday at the local courthouse and the local sheriff surrendered without incident.
Governor Andy Beshear posted that a district judge in Letcher County was killed, District Judge Kevin Mullins.
The judge was announced dead at the scene, with police saying that preliminary investigation indicates the local sheriff shot Mullins multiple times after an argument inside the courthouse.

So I Googled it Judge was shot in his chambers multiple times motive is unknown so far they had an argument. Sheriff has served for 14 years this is the only incident on record the judge 8 years shoter was aressted at the scene without a fight. There was 50 people at the court house that day no one else injured. Small town 1600 population.

I don't think you or most of the other people commenting even know what a sheriff is. It's an elected position that you vote for in your county elections. The sheriff doesn't even have to be a member of law enforcement to get elected. A sheriff is like the mayor of the county, he's not a beat cop.
The sheriffs office is not investigating themselves. The district court is not investigating themselves. The highest ranking law enforcement of the state is investigating a local sheriffs office. I think you’re confusing yourself and mixing up two different types of investigations. You’re thinking of county district attorney and city mayoral investigations. In those cases, the mayors office and district attorney office would also take a hit in a loss and lawsuit. If the sheriff is convicted then it hurts the state police none. The state police are not funded by the county. The state police have their own union represented under KSPA so they have different lawyers, different retirements ands different leadership.
@@Guts3570not all sheriffs. Some are appointed in certain jurisdictions which should be a crime, but yea these people here in the comments are not smart. They’re not being investigated by the county, they’re being investigated by third party LEO, the top LEOs in the state. The state has their own union and lawyers under KSPA. They’re not funded the same so if the county were to be sued civilly, the state would not take that burden. These commenters need to learn how to learn. This is not a local district attorneys office investigating their county police. This is serious and he will be held accountable if any wrongdoing occurred.

Think about a cop who knows all of the citizens who’ve been through his jail and one of them is sitting in the crowd trying to bid on a home from a county auction. Imagine the sheriff being able to say, no I’m not going go grant you a firearm permit because your brother is a career criminal. Oh you don’t have to imagine that because it already happens. The sheriff has too many non-law enforcement duties but apply LE types of discretions when it comes to fulfilling their duties

there is a suspicion that maybe there is some kind of too "much relationship" with the sheriff or with somebody else related to the sheriff. Here is a real story that happened in Brazil inside the Judge chamber where the Judge started having an affair with his secretary and one day the Judge's wife showed up in the court to "visit" the secretary. The wife started talking to the secretary, showing photos of her family, children, etc and then the wife pulls a hammer from her purse and hit the secretary. It was such an scandal. How about what happened in USA, last year, a judge committed suicide after the federal police was headed to his home to arrest the Judge in his home for children molestation, pornography, etc. The story was a mess. When the police was approaching his home, the coward Judge committed suicide. I tell you don't let your children alone with anybody: pope, priest, judge, father, stepfather, brother, cousin and the list goes on and goes on. Flood your home, car and backpack with hidden camera to catch the predator. Trusting is the mistake.

I read the judge helped people addicted to drugs in the judicial system. He started a program that was adopted by 50 counties in KY. I hope others carry on that work.
