Once again, great analysis! Looks like a hell of a ride. I am personally pretty confident in this project since S&S has built plenty of these coasters in China, so they've gotten more experience in developing the ins and outside of them. Hypersonic XLC and Ring Racer were learning experiences, and I feel like they are really stepping up their game. Anything can happen, but I can see it being functional like the ones in China reportedly are. Also, will you be doing a video on all the Six Flags announcements for 2019?
Ring Racer had bugs fixed. It's just that the place was bought out where it was in and the new peeps didn't want to pay for maintenance of the ride so it was taken out.
Great America is my home park, and I’m more than happy that it’s getting banger after banger. Yes, it did get The Joker, but as you said in the video it also got Goliath, as well as X Flight. Those might have been added in the last 10 years, but it’s got a great selection of classics like Superman Ultimate Flight, Raging Bull, and Viper, which is a highly underrated wooden coaster. Can’t wait to see what it’ll get in the years to come.
Joseph Groholske Joker is fun as hell but it’s also a blink-and-you’ll-miss it endeavor. Park management has done a fine job of balancing the old classics with new additions, even if X-Flight has not aged well at all. Hoping for a future-Stsr here and not another Deja Vu or Z-Force.
We have an air launch coaster already. Powder Keg at SDC. The Chinese S&S air launches are significantly more reliable, so I hope that this one reflects that. Since it’s my home park; I can’t wait to ride it! The acceleration is going to be awesome!
Now that I’ve ridden both sorry both one half of WCR is better than max force itself lol. Maybe a bit of exaggeration but either way WCR is a way better ride
Powder Keg in Silver Dollar City was the last pneumatic launch coaster built in the US, opened in 2005. Powder Keg's 60mph/3s launch was intense; I can't imagine how Maxx Force will feel.
I live an hour from six flags great America and I have to say, you’re absolutely right about this park and uptime/downtime ratio. Dejavu was never open, seriously in the multiple years it was there I seen it running twice and road it once.
Been on hypersonic. Thay launch was truly something else. I recall not even feeling like you accelerate it was more like sitting still, then at full speed. Was nuts. And a fun ride but short, this has a better layout. When I go to Cedar Point next year I may take some time and drive out to IL for this
I think Maxx Force looks phenomenal, especially with an acceleration like that! I was just at Six Flags Great America last week. But seeing this coaster makes me want to go back next year. 🎢😍😍
Sadly the train is closed for the rest of the season. they have to construct the bridge where the train goes over the launch and as well, the waterpark closes after labor day. so not very close construction updates
Was just there today, it's pretty cool, that double inversion was pretty wicked standing next to Raging Bull. My theroy is Great America received a lot of attendance because we have no other parks nearby, I think the closest big park is Cedar Pointe Ohio. So it's a supply and demand relationship I'd say
This is my home park, I’m super excited to ride it, I’ve been so busy so I haven’t been able to ride it yet but I love my home park, this ride is is making up for the stupid super loop we got lol
Really happy my home park is getting this! The launch is gonna be incredible! I have hope it won't have a lot of issues since it seems S&S has perfected their air launch coasters in China
I love the addition because Great America is my home park and I've been waiting for the day when they would be getting a launch coaster, and at first I didn't believe that they would get a water coaster, but you were wrong. Love the vid by the way!
My school (northwestern university) has the great america closed just for the students every year. Can’t wait to go on this 20 times in a row next year!
Looks awesome. I would love to get to this park esp with this new ride. BUT I already plan to hit KW next year, as its not far from CP, and I will do Carowinds as my layovers are always in Charlotte. This just is a bit far away... maybe some day! Having ridden Hypersonic XLC that launch was truly epic.
Awesome post! One of my concerns, along with what you stated, is going to be Capacity. I've yet to see how many trains they will be able to operate, but judging by the lay out, 2 Maximum. Being that Great America is one of the more popular in the chain, I can see this creating some serious wait times...
I would have never thought to see S&S have such a big year coming up with now this to go along with Steel Curtain. But man alive this looks like a fun coaster, even if its short. Wonder if there will be any airtime with that little bunny hill after the launch.
Going to ride this on Wednesday! First time going to six flags in years, we usually go to cedar point now a days instead but my younger brother got a free pass from school for a reading program.
Nice work. Glad that S&S is moving on from their past air launch failures (Ring Racer & Hypersonic XLC) I wonder how much compressed air would be needed to launch Kingda Ka :D :D As for my home park, glad that Apocalypse is becoming Firebird. I don't like having my shoulders banged or my nuts squished!
YASSSSSSSSSSS GREAT AMERICA IS MY HOME PARK CANT WAIT TO RIDE IT!!! I’m so happy that we got rid of the pictorium I hated it I vomited in the pictorium because I used to get motion sickness Now I’m fine and I am soooo excited to ride this!!
Im also worried that the coaster has to remove the inversion where it goes 60 mph because it might go so fast and it will be like when Maverick at Cedar Point had the heartline roll.
This looks cool but I'm all for Kings Island and Cedar Point lol. I've heard a lot of horror stories about Six Flags and how they're more focused with having the biggest and the baddest and not really caring about safety etc. I do hope that this works out for them though!
This coaster is going to be insane! Awesome analysis i didn’t notice the brakes. But um 17 coasters? The superloop doesn’t count so they have 16. Also the fastest launch in North America isn’t a world record so the coaster really broke 2 world records.
@@bildom Fun fact: Ring Racer didn't close because of mechanical problems. They actually fixed those up when the ride finally opened. The property was just bought out by an investor that didn't want to pay for the maintenance costs
HYPERSONIC had the WORST downtime.....go figure though because they basically tried(and failed) to use what worked well on free fall towers at the time on a coaster which didn't work well.
I just really wish it was longer. I mean it's what like 30 seconds maybe? I mean seriously why do they have to make such an awesome looking ride and make it so short.
maybe that fast inversion might give you that feeling you get during the second half of steel vengeance where you don't know where you are but i doubt it, nobody could've told me that was going to happen when the POV was made so maybe it could happen with this one
This is probably the biggest surprise out of all the announcements. I mean, we were expecting GA to get a coaster, but a S&S compressed air launch? Did ANYBODY expect that?
I hoped they'd get a launch coaster but I assumed premiere. To me, b4 they got Goliath or Joker, that's what the park was actually missing, was a solid launch coaster. V2 is kinda...I can see that getting removed and them utilizing that area, and maybe they'll send it to SFA or even St. Louis. I also wonder if Six flags is seeing whose cheaper+more efficient, given they have technically been working with S&S more than premiere as of late. If this thing preforms I can see them possibly building more. Six flags over georgia could use a launch coaster and honestly people talk big about kingda ka but it's an intamin strata that breaks down constantly with one element, so I could definitely see Six Flags Great Adventure getting something like this, everyone misses Chiller (a prototype premiere than did not work out).
I went here yesterday and me and my mom bought Maxx Force Flash Pass tickets. After a while, we decide to go to it and when we got to it, it shut down. And if your wondering there was little wind. P.S. we also got Goliath Flash Pass tickets and we went on that and it was awesome
This park is kind of out of the way even when I do my Cedar Point trip it would be pretty much a whole day's drive just to get there. But honestly I may fly out sometime next year just to do this park because I am stoked about this ride. It seems that the launch is basically the equivalent to Hypersonic xlc I was lucky enough to ridden that one and my God that launched was unlike anything else
I strongly believe that Maxx Force may be foreshadowing the future for Vertical Velocity. A rumor that has been going around is that V2 will be removed from the park, and added to another park that needs the attraction, similar to what they did with Iron Wolf. One complaint that people have had with this is that V2 was he only launch coaster in the park out of their fourteen (soon to be fifteen, a number that may feel like too many) coasters in the park. I believe that they are planning to remove V2 soon after the addition of Maxx Force, but are adding Maxx Force so that they do not lose the attraction of having a launch coaster in the park.
I had three thoughts when I saw this: 1. This is exactly what Great America has been missing-a solid, sweet launch coaster. I mean, V2 is OK, but, I wouldn't be suprised if that was the next area used for expansion whether it be a coaster or new rides. 2. If Six Flags seemed focused on trying two different speed ranges, one dueling one not dueling, as well as height, they may be pinning premiere and S&S to see which is cheaper and more reliable. 3. The next step in six flags coasters can easily be giving other parks launch coasters that really need them. Or can use a solid 2nd one that is very different, just as this is from V2. I'd love to see something like this overtake six flags great adventure, but maybe dueling to give back that feeling everyone loved but got screwed on with chiller. But Over Georgia doesn't have a launch coaster either-however with the latter I'm kinda expected a Georgia Scorcher floorless conversion now.
Also the S&S concern is understandable, I'm 1hr 20 minutes from "Galeforce." However, they've built ones like this overseas and they seem to work well, and powder keg has a compressed air launch but between the chain lift, the moving up to the launch, etc, it has other technical difficulties that lead to downtime than just the launch. So it should probably be fine enough, even though I would expect some first year bugs. Just hope it's good when I visit sometime next early summer (as in operating, of course it'll be great, who cares if it's a short duration it has five inversions not 3 or breaking to relaunch to fill time like full throttle, or a sky rocket II, etc).
Next record they'll brag about: -fastest chain lift over 150 ft high with a 40 degree incline. - most zero g stalls on a track painted blue, and my favorite: -longest track for a ride lasting 30 seconds.
Powder Keg at Silver Dollar City is the only other compressed air launch coaster in America. And the fact that it's also at my home park makes it better.
I think the top three for SFGAm right now is (if we exclude Batman because that's my personal bias) Raging Bull, Viper, and Goliath. I think Maxx Force will definitely be better than Raging Bull because of how forceful and well paced it'll be alone, so top 3 for this coaster is definitely a given. I think Goliath is a longer ride, so I doubt it'll be able to top that. But Viper is a different story. Viper is a long ride, it's smooth, it has great airtime (not ejector, but powerful enough), strong laterals, and a consistent pace. I'm curious whether an explosive ride like Maxx Force will be able to top a coaster like Viper that isn't explosive, but absolutely well rounded and thrilling for everyone. If you've never gotten a good ride on Viper I highly recommend you sit front row, by the way. It's a criminally underrated coaster and SF takes very good care of it.
No. American Eagle is way better then Viper. I don't think this is going to be better then raging bull, but I'll have to ride it first so I'm saying: 1. Goliath 2. Bull 3. Maxx
Maxx Force and Steel Curtain are the most thrilling rides to look forward to in America for 2019, with West Coast Racers rounding out the Top 3. That being said, none of them could be much more than 10 Million dollar investments. Hopefully American Parks blow it wide open for the 2020 Season!
Six Flags Great America has 15 coasters, I don't know why they would count a boring superloop as a coaster, let alone a piece of track that's literally on the same structure of American Eagle!! Boy I tell'ya, Six Flags is something else!!
It seems like a fantastic coaster. I am worried about the uptime vs downtime ratio too. It would be annoying if the coaster was down all the time more compared to the times it was operational.
Wow, I can’t wait for that launch! What are the chances you’ll be there this year Taylor? this is my home park, as well as the home park for quite a bunch of other fans! Edit: Well, I guess I messed up this question for myself...

No. American Eagle is way better then Viper. I don't think this is going to be better then raging bull, but I'll have to ride it first so I'm saying: 1. Goliath 2. Bull 3. Maxx
The top 3 In the park is currently Goliath, Raging Bull, and X-Flight. It’ll be interesting to see where Maxx Force fits in there.
Annalia Fyfe Uhh, it’s not the first. Apollo’s Chariot was the first B&M hyper.
I’m thinking v2s days at the park are now numbered.
Merry Excited
And looking

Exciting.
Can't wait to ride it someday
Maxx Force and Steel Curtain are the most thrilling rides to look forward to in America for 2019, with West Coast Racers rounding out the Top 3. That being said, none of them could be much more than 10 Million dollar investments. Hopefully American Parks blow it wide open for the 2020 Season!
Imagine how much downtime that launch is gonna cause. On a positive note, great america can easily become a flagship park if they keep it up
I swear I typed this before he mentioned the downtime 😂😂
Amazing vid dude your awesome
Six Flags Great America has 15 coasters, I don't know why they would count a boring superloop as a coaster, let alone a piece of track that's literally on the same structure of American Eagle!!
Boy I tell'ya, Six Flags is something else!!
It seems like a fantastic coaster. I am worried about the uptime vs downtime ratio too. It would be annoying if the coaster was down all the time more compared to the times it was operational.
Taylor when's the Thorpe Park Cinematic??? because Thorpe Park is my home park and I love your Cinematics
Coaster Thrills soon!
@@CoasterStudios ok
Can you do a whole video for all the rides for six flags 2019 please
Best coaster in the sf announcements
I am most excited for the lap bars and not the weird vest restraints!
Best ride at the park imo
National Coaster News how do you know? You haven't ridden it yet! lol
@@CoasterStudios Let me rephrase that, if executed properly I think it could be the best ride at the park (I'm not a huge Goliath fan)
Ready for Takoda to Narrate the Maxx Force parody (If you plan on visiting Great America next Year)?
Six Flags GA is getting another thrill ride next year
Dylan Fedroff GA?
Great America SFGAm or
Great Adventure SFGAdv?
Full Throttle 2
Will probably be better though.
XBCPGamer29 yeah
I'm not sure, but I think furius baco's in-line had the fastest inversion because it was really close to the ground too. Correct me if Im wrong..
Wow, I can’t wait for that launch! What are the chances you’ll be there this year Taylor? this is my home park, as well as the home park for quite a bunch of other fans!
Edit: Well, I guess I messed up this question for myself...
TheMattMan987 - i'm not going this year
Coaster Studios Sorry, I meant next year, when Maxx Force opens
Will you be visiting SFGAm to ride Maxx Force?
I go here alot and great america really needed a new roller coaster
