I’m hearing rumors that this might actually have lap bars and that the animation is not correct, but that is definitely just a rumor and there’s still a 99% chance that it’ll have the comfort collars. Still very excited to finally experience the second half of full throttle.
I hope the animation is wrong. I've been trying to figure out why it would need a shoulder harness, I can't figure it out. It shouldn't need one.
Coaster Studios Yeah, me too. It’s really inconvenient and kind of painful for people over 6’ tall, like me, and it’s especially unnecessary with this ride. I always have some sort of discomfort with rides that have shoulder restraints, so I definitely hope it’s just a lap bar.
Also, the coaster art/poster at 6:33 shows only a lap bar

Yes - I think what it is displaying is comfort collars. And in the ride promo pictures, it shows only lap bars. So the animation could definitely be wrong. It is already wrong about riddler revenge's color scheme...

I think Maxx Force would make more sense here, and this would make more sense at SF Great America.
Thing is great America has almost no space to work with so it would be hard to do this there.

I think they might have the “comfort collars” to appeal to more of a family audience. Also, Maxx Force > West Coast Racers

they needed this about as much as six flags new england needed two boomerangs, or other parks who have basically two frisbees and discovery kingdom with a superloop and the skywarp. like 5 other parks would've really benefited from this concept/design, was does this do for magic mountain besides "OMG 20 coasters?" Hopefully at least Maxx force is real so Great America finally gets a solid launch coaster. But with the loss of the prototype chiller this would've been a nice thing to add to six flags great adventure. Magic Mountain should be saving for something way bigger, like maybe B&M wing or dive, or an RMC T-Rex. This thing is just as redundant to full throttle+twisted collosus as green lantern is to bizzaro at Six Flags GADV.

I disagree, I think this coaster looks alright. Yes, in the past magic mountain wanted to increase their coaster lineup so they added random awful coasters, but this one looks like magic mountain wanted to perfect a dueling coaster. Yes other parks could use this much more than magic mountain, but I won't complain too much.
What a let down! From the land sectioned off we were hoping for a super high and fast coaster, instead 55 mph and a few stories high??, meh

Thanks, Coaster Studios for the analysis. Just got back from Six Flags 2 days ago (Dec. 30, 2019). Six Flags is currently test running West Coast Racers by allowing Season Pass holders to ride at various times. These times are not scheduled so you just have to keep your eyes and ears open to see when they want to run tests. Myself and the 4 teens with me had a great time on the ride. Definitely loved being able to do both the yellow and the silver tracks. Also, in your analysis, you mentioned the over the shoulder restraints as a possible negative. I was actually quite surprised to find them comfortable since they are thinner flexible straps and not over the shoulder bars; so when you head bobs back and forth you don't feel like you are banging into them. Can't wait to go again.
Really looking forward to it! It should be a nice fit for the line up of the park!

It's not a great fit. This is horrible for the park. It's to similar to twisted Collosous and full throttle if this was at great adventure or over Texas I would have been happier about it. This thing is a joke for magic mountain
Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure in Florida closed for exactly this reason. They stopped running the coasters together because of the hazard of objects falling from one train and hitting the other. Ultimately, the ride closed for good.

I think those elements are definitely corkscrews. I don’t know why they keep calling them zero g rolls because it’s not just six flags but other parks too.
I was hoping mm would get a t rex but this one looks really fun. Most of the coasters at mm are high intensity and my daughter can only go on a couple each day. This looks like one that can be fun and not as intense.
There are no zero g-rolls. Those are corkscrews.
Nice analysis! I personally don't mind the comfort collars, though I will admit they can be clunky to put on and take off. The moebius element looks amazing, and the color scheme is fantastic. Hopefully I can get my own Six Flags 2019 video out by tonight; I'm at work for the next nine hours lol.

Just rode it yesterday! Amazing experience! The queue is beautiful! And the ride is super fun, there is no preferred seating though, a must ride indeed

Another amazing roller coaster for Magic Mountain!
It reminds me of Fiorano GT Challenge at Firrari world in the UAE. That was a launch dueling coaster also with a car theme. But the cars were pretty small for kids even though it was presented to be for everyone
Heading three parks next year. Six Flags Great America, Kentucky Kingdom, and Six Flags Magic Mountain. Absolutely giddy to ride West Coast racers.
I just realized they are running 3 trains, so one is loading while the other 2 are dualing. So when the coasters are done, the third one rolls out before the yellow one gets back to the station. It makes sence and should have a better throughput than twisted colossus.

I'm with the commenters... Next video idea! Zero-G roll vs Corkscrew. Is it a buzzword thing or is there an actual/functional difference between these elements? (like the cobraroll, batwing, and boomerang debate)
I actually like that they put over the shoulder restraints on it, It helps bring the coaster away from full throttle and twisted colossus and more into the area between high thrill coaster and family coaster, (similar to cheetah hunt in that way). I know a lot of people (aka gp) get scared when they only see lap bars and the inclusion of over the shoulder restraints should help with ridership.
Looks like an amazing coaster. Luckily, I’m flying to Utah next summer for vacation, staying there fore 3 days, then renting a car and driving to CA. Can’t wait to stop by and ride!

I think this will be a awesome edition to the park. It’s about time they layout a coaster like that to dress up the back.
Looks like fun! Not the most extreme coaster in the world but in my opinion, it is a mix between verbolten and full throttle. So it is a family thrill coaster. Looks like an insanely large and long ride though. Also how you have the pit stop? WHATS IN THE SHED??? again?
Unfortunately, as we have heard from the park president on ACE Day at SFMM, yes... West Coast Racers will have comfort collars.
However, the park president did say that the comfort collars will be modified. He said he wants them to feel like seatbelts to feel more like the experience you get when you are in a car.
I’m watching this to refresh myself on this ride because they’re taking so dang long to finish it. 😳

Perfect addition to the park. Great way to revitalize that area, with a crowd pleasing ride that will absolutely draw large crowds to the area. With Apocalypse getting re-tracked (at least the 2nd half that they didn't re-track last time) I'm sure that coaster will get some love and no longer be as much of an afterthought to guests. Hopefully the GoKarts get better GoKarts, They're a bit lame at the moment. maybe transition to electric karts, and stop charging guests (gas prices).
I also think it makes perfect sense. MM is tuned into the success of TC and FT, and it is a logical progression. I would not be surprised at all if the next ride is a TREX, with dueling elements (and a giga). They are back on track to providing huge additions. I couldn't be happier.
I think the over the shoulder restraints may be a way to get the GP on the ride. A lot of people are afraid of lap-bar only rides. Like you said, this is not a family coaster, but is 'close' (a bit of a stretch for me IMO). I think the comfort shoulder harness will entice a lot of people to go on this ride who would be too scared of other rides. (i don't like the over the shoulder restraint, but that's my thoughts on why at least).
Nascar racers use over the shoulder restraints . So they could possibly be channeling this duel like an actual nascar race with the over the shoulder restraints. But with west coast style.

I like this. Not entirely for the layout, but because crowds will go here instead of X2
look like Icon at blackpool in terms of the way it interacts together and banks at some crazy angles
I’m a pass holder and live nearby. “Normal” for TC is not racing; it’s an exception. FT has one of the lowest capacities in the park, and WCR looks fun but has shorter trains than FT. The line will be a nightmare and it will be a one-time only or no-time flash pass ride. They removed flash pass from Superman completely this year because the capacity is so horrendous.
Weird choice for SFMM considering they already have Twisted Colossus. I think it would have been a better fit at a different Six Flags park
This actually is cool. I mean they could have gotten something better, but it's pretty awesome. I love that it's a mobius coaster. 4 launches is neat as well. I also love how long each side is. This seems it will last a long time.

I think it has OTSRs because of the close proximity to other rides. That is also why Mindbender has OTSRs, because it comes so close to other rides and its own track.

In my opinion, this is different enough from both TC and FT to fit into Magic Mountain. It has a very unique layout when it comes to dueling and launch coasters, plus this might be the only mobuis loop steel launch coaster in the world. Plus Cyclone Bay really needed a tune up.
Overall, it looks great.

Great breakdown! I’m looking forward to this one quite a bit. While X2 is my personal fave (that opening sequence is so amaycray lol), I will say this. I got to SFMM regularly and I’ve gotta say that the pure enjoyment that you see on people’s faces when they get off Full Throttle and TC is probably the highest of any of the rides in the park. They are just so quirky and fun especially when TC races which rarely happens sadly. A cross between those two rides has massive “fun” potential 😁. I looked at it today and it is looking sweet. I think the biggest obstacle will be keeping the wait for the second race from being too draggy. We’ll see though. I’m super excited for the opening!!! Anyone have an idea when it’s going to be ready? I knew it wasn’t going to be by the end of the summer 😂
What if they want to make it feel like your strapped into a race car?
Maverick at Cedar Point has over the shoulder restraints and it doesnt take the experience away. I think it will be ok and hopefully comfortable.

This looks amazing, but i dont think this is what magic mountain needs, theres so many other thing that they could have gotten, like you said they took elements from other roller coasters in the park. Don’t get me wrong it looks like a pretty good fit for the park, all i am saying is that there are other options that are better.
I’m french, and the next summer, i will Go to america the only time in my Life... so, i Would make a little detour to magic mountain ! A dream 😭😍

I Actually got to have a vip experience of this ride and it was amazing. Before you launch you get to talk smack to the other train like “haha we’re gonna beat you”. When it opens I’m expecting a coaster parody😏, and it is defenetly one of the top coaster at six flags magic mountain.👍

This coaster is really dope, I just wish a more deserving park were getting it. Magic Mountain gets too many custom coasters, while every other park gets clones, or RMCs
When those other parks get a Disneyland down the street from them to compete with then maybe they'll get one too.
