I miss Colossus and the log jammer should never have been removed. There’s something special about the way it was built on the mountain with natural surroundings. It was just a nice relaxing ride in the water. In my opinion, it’s never been the same without it.
I rode colossus right before they gave it the rmc treatment.let me tell you, it was very rough. also the ride kept breaking down . for me, i'm glad they built twisted colossus
I think they should have kept log jammer. I doubt that they would have trouble finding a different plot of land for full throttle. Sure it might have been a little different without the tunnel in the mountain, but in the end especially after this summer of hot heat, it really showed how sorely the park is missing its third water ride. Especially a high capacity one like log jammer.
The biggest mistake when they relocated it was putting new trains on it, if they kept the old trains or have Vekoma redesign new trains for it, it would probably still be operating.
@@CoasterConnections Yes please! Including Little Sailor Ride, The Dragon, Train to Trollywood, Enterprise, Crazy Barrels, Jolly Monster & the Galaxy to name a few....
I love Magic Mountain history having great memories of the park throughout the years. There have been so many changes since the beginning I think It would take hours to document all of them. I really want them to bring back transportation rides like the Metro and Eagle's Flight. I am familiar with a few of the photos in this video but you did a great job digging up some really cool footage that must be hard to find. I really enjoyed this video, thanks a lot.
Wow, now there's a trip down memory lane! I remember seeing the commercials for Shockwave; everybody wearing glasses. Too young and short to have ridden it. I wasn't a fan of Flashback or Deja Vu. Going up with all your weight resting on the restraints wasn't comfortable. I'm happy to have ridden Colossus one final time in 2014. I believe there was a fire that damaged portions of the track soon after it closed. I will forever mourn the loss of Log Jammer.
Thank you so much. We also had a Shockwave stand up coaster in the UK with an almost identical tv advert. You are right about the fire on Colossus. Good job getting your last ride.
This was certainly a trip down memory lane. I got on a lot of the rides you mentioned, and my favorite was Deja Vu. It was so much fun! One ride that was not mentioned but that terrorized me the only time I saw it operating (right before they removed it) was Z Force. I would still be scared of it, more than getting on X2 even. And I'm glad Viper is not yet on this list, although I suspect it might not be too long.
Z Force… six flags sure do love a reused name. There are still some out there and I agree, scarier than any coaster! On my last ride Viper had got a little too rough, but who knows what the future holds!
Shockwave was SO beloved when it opened; it's no surprise what it did for attendance. Sarajevo had been a disappointment and this was a breath of fresh air. Psyclone was also amazing in it's first year - a perfect woodie along the lines of GhostRider. It's so sad what happened to it shortly thereafter.
Deja Vu is one I miss so much! It was fantastic. Flashback was something straight from hell. It hurt and made me feel awful. Worst ride next to Green Lantern. That one whipped people so fast it hurt your neck. It is funny as people call Flashback ZForce but the ZForce ride from Magic Mountain I remember was a plane that rocked from side to side like the boat ride but hung you upside down. I do miss that one too.
Deja Vu is one of the ride types I have never managed to get a ride on. I’m surprised Z Force became Flashback given how much Six Flags love to reuse ride names!
I do miss Log Jammer. The last time I was at Magic Mountain was in 2019, so decided to take a photo of the former ride entrance while I was there. I also rode Green Lantern: First Flight a few times during it's short run at the park. I cannot find myself to ever fully hate that ride because it gave me the closest to a ride malfunction that had ever gotten at Magic Mountain (so far). It was on my second time riding it and the pod my sister and I were in had over-rotated when we got back into the station, causing my sister and I to face the floor and the 2 riders behind us to face the ceiling. Two of the riders in the pod in front of us were laughing but I honestly didn't care because I was enjoying it. Maintenance was called out to fix the problem and everything was just fine soon after. Probably the only thing I was embarrassed about on that ride was using a step stool to climb into the pods. I'm at around 5'8" but climbing up into a roller coaster pod that was around 4 feet off the ground was a challenge for almost everyone who rode it.
I remember free fall felt like a car crash when it stopped at the bottom. Deja Vu was fun but it take a long time to send off the car. I timed it while in line and at that time it was once every 10 minutes.
Flashback was awful on the ears physically. If someone were to ride it often enough, they'd get mistaken for a boxer/fighter because they'd have cauliflower ears. The riders heads would get rocked side to side and the harness padding was too firm. All these years later I still say: F that ride! 😂😂😂
@@CoasterConnections In the 90's I had a season pass for years. Flashback is the only coaster I only rode once because of how bad that padding was. Having recently gone back after a decade, Viper needs some serious refurbishment as it is so so rough now. I'm afraid they might just tear it out instead.
The attraction I miss the most is Colossus when it reopened in May of 1979, with The Single Buzzer Lap Bar PTC Trains. I've ridden all 4 incarnations of Colossus, and The Screemy Meemy Version in National Lampoon's Vacation was Absolutely The Best One. Twisted Colossucks Sucks!!
I like Twisted Colossus, but to me it's a completely different ride. It's like when they rebuilt Aladdin in Las Vegas, it may have been on the same plot with the same name, but it was a different hotel!
The only SFMM coaster more painful than Flashback was Psyclone (rest in hell). Psyclone was like being dropped down a rocky hill in a wooden barrel. I *REALLY* miss Spin Out, Log Jammer and Shockwave. 😡🤬
Just seeing these lost rides and comparing them to my own local park (which is on it's death's bed), Freefall (The Edge) gone, Log Jammer (Loggers Run) gone, Deja Vu (Invertigo) gone, brings back memories, also interesting to see how similar rides are across the country. We still have Sky Tower and Eagle's Flight though (YAY!).
@@CoasterConnections Yup CA Great America, which was either Paramount's or Marriott's when those rides left. I used to love the park, I think I've hit the age where everything is too painful though, the woodies all rattle my teeth, the steel ones put a bit too much of a strain on my body, and Railblazer, oh boy was that fun but I felt myself clenching the whole ride to the point that I was actually cramping at the end. 🤣🤣
supposedly the original psyclone cart is in the apocalypse wastelands...i seen it there when i went on it.. the og boat z force was scary..i cried at 8 years old.
Thank you, glad you found it informative. Do you mean the September 2014 fire? Colossus had already closed at that time with deconstruction already beginning.

I’d love to see a new modern log ride on the mountain.
Deja Vu is forever missed
That thing was scary wild. I've ridden the other GIBs but they feel tame and pretty uncomfortable compared to the legendary Deja Vu
I know! When it moved it was never the same!

Deja Vu was a great ride. Back seat on the first spike was terrifying and gut wrenching!
Well done video! I miss log jammer😢 I refuse to ride it’s replacement.
