1994: The UK Year of the Roller Coaster
My dad fondly talks about Jumbo Jet. One of his favorite rides of all time. He talks about the Frontier Lift and Mill Race too. Love hearing his stories about going to Cedar Point- he went every year until he graduated high school Fun edit: my brother and his friends used to switch seats on Witches Wheel when they rode. That one is still crazy to me, but I guess they were stupid high schoolers
I miss the overall look of the original California adventures!! This brought back all the memories! 😢❤
Living my entire life near Beuna Park, I have been to Knott's more times than I can remember. This was a great trip down memory lane ❤
I miss log jammers, colossus, Yosemite Sam's slide, green lantern
Disney ruined Splash Mountain. I get the revamp and turning into something relating to Princess and the Frog. But How the hell do you forget about the 2 important characters of the film? Ray and the Shadow man? You mean to tell me no one would be excited to climb the big hill while listening to the Shadow man singing “Are You Ready?” Before the big drop? Major Miss Disney.
As a Cast Member who opened up DCA and three of the Attractions you mentioned, loved your video! Brought me down memory lane with some wonderful memories of the Golden Age of DCA. While true a lot of things weren’t popular at the time, all of it still holds a special place in my heart…even Superstar Limo! Eureka is still one of my all time favorite parades!
You should do a video on rides we could see in the future in the style of the lost attractions, like How Disney Hollywood studios might look like in 2035? Twilight Zone Tower of Terror = Simpsons ride based in the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant drop tower Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage and Fantasmic! space = Marvel Land Experience with clone The Avengers ride - Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! = Alien And Predator Dark ride like Rise of the Resistance - Animation Courtyard = Unknown space
The best is still there
If you mean The Beast, it’s certainly the best in the park!
how perfect that WINDJAMMER literally got jammed up when it was windy..? amazing
I know! Couldn’t be a more suitable name! 😂
WHO ELSE WANTED TO GO ON THE DINOSAUR RIDE WITH THEIR CRUSH
And did you get to?
I worked on this show, drove the floats and helped park them for their performance locations. Fun memories, the music still rocks. Nice video!
Thank you, I appreciate it! I bet that was a fun job. The music was the best part, still up there with one of the best didn’t park songs ever. I forgot to include it in the video but I once saw a show at Disneyland Paris that featured Dream Our Dream sung live.
I miss tough to be a bug. Listening to people scream was hilarious to teen me 😆.
I still enjoy that part of it, you still get unprepared first timers in Florida!
I went to school with the lad who died on Space Invader, it was the summer between Primary and High School. A truly sad loss 😢
So sorry to hear that. It’s so sad to hear that a happy place for many people isn’t always the case.
I miss the log ride
So do many people. I always think they are a theme park staple.
Remember the funhouse had many parties their in the last and I forgot about the monorail passing through, however the smell of sweaty feet was horrendous
Ha ha ha! I can imagine the smell!
Scooby's Ghoster Coaster looked so awesome and I waited for an hour to ride. Afterwards, I was so disappointed I never got on it again.
I’ve been on a few rides like that. You can’t wait to ride then it’s a disappointment!
Golden dreams was an awesome attraction!!
I really liked it too!
Okay a few corrections here: The Tower of Terror at DCA never had randomized drop sequences every single ride was the same. That was the version at Walt Disney World. The new version, Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout has randomized drop sequences with different show scenes and songs.
Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I guess my memory isn't as good as I thought! Ive been lucky enough to ride every version around the world so I guess I can blame the confusion on that.
Both tower of terrors had different drop sequences I Google the question did the tower of terror in California adventure have different drop senquences, which means that each ride is unique. Explanation The ride originally had a single drop, but was upgraded with a second drop in 1996 and a third in 1999. In 2003, the ride's triple drop was replaced with a computer-selected randomized multi-drop sequence. The randomized drop sequence means that you don't know how many times you'll drop, or how far. This makes each ride experience unique, so it's likely that you'll never experience the same ride twice.
This was great!!!
The park or my video? 😅
@ The video. 😀👏🏾🎊🎉
Thank you for such a nostalgic video trip back to Blackpool. My parents used to take me there annually for a holiday at the end of the year to see the animated lit theme displays and illuminated trams. It was amazing and the fair at the time was an overwhelming pleasure. My late sister grew up to take her children there annually too but it’s changed considerably over time. I am in my 72nd year now but love the memories of those distant days.
And thank you for watching! I’m so glad the video could bring back some memories for you.
What happened to the S&S towers? did it get relocated to another park?
I couldn’t find any definitive answer, but I suspect they were scrapped.
Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train and Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror are the only rides I really miss. I also miss Soarin Over California, but it’s not permanently gone because they bring Soarin Over California back every March and April for the California Food and Wine Festival.
That’s one of my highlights of the food and wine festival. Getting to see the original Soarin’ film.
I used to love shockwave as a kid and I loved outer limits as a kid too Omg I had forgot about the hurler!!!!! Loved that one too
It sounds like you enjoyed many of the rides on this list!
@ really appreciate the time and effort you put in because while some people may just see a little video for some of us this was a walk down memory lane! For me, I had actually completely forgotten about Shockwave, it was cool having my memory jogged like that. Do you live near the park? I have lived in Maryland my whole life other than for 5 years where I lived in Japan so I have visited Kings Dominion, Six Flags America, Hershey Park, and as a small kid Dutch Wonderland a ton! Anyway thanks again!!
Thank you so much. I’m sharing a passion I have for theme park history and love that people enjoy what I do. If you can’t tell from my accent, I’m actually from England. I grew up in the 90’s obsessed with theme parks, especially US parks I had seen on this new invention “the internet”. Eventually getting to visit as I got older and they didn’t disappoint!
@ haha yeah I picked up on that you were just so knowledgeable I assumed you were stateside ;) again thanks
Drayton Manor is amazing! It's my local park too.
What they have done in the past few years is fantastic. They have really revitalised some areas of the park.
i did not realize how big frontierland was back then.
I know, it seemed to have so much space. I loved how all the different attractions crossed over each other.
@ honestly even though frontierland shrunk, the abandoned spots are home to a lot of critters living in the park
I loved the Tumblebug. It came from Coney Island. I miss it.
I love all those old classic flat rides. If I ever see any of them at other parks I make sure I jump on.
Iron reef was so good. But beary tales I swear literally breaks down every 5 minutes. DO WASTE UR TIME PLZ. Do not ride beary tales it breaks down SO MUCH. You have been warned!!!! lol
Thanks for watching. I had a pretty good run through my last visit, but it does seem to back up a lot.
I feel like they went TOO far with the California theme. I think it’s perfect now. Everything is close enough to California theme but with Disney characters.
I agree so much. Looking back it was all the pun filled names that were part of that for me, just way too far. But it was designed in the ‘90s! That said, because I am not from California I found the theme interesting and exotic at the time!
We rode Son of Beast shortly after it opened. It was bone shaking and teeth chattering. In a steep curve, my daughter almost fell out of the car. I grabbed her and held her down, she had her arms around my neck, choking me. We were terrified. She's an adult now and hates rides of any kind.
I hope Son of Beast hasn’t put her off for life. Don’t let one bad ride spoil them all.
Never returned after the entrance fee was introduced...that was a Huge Big MISTAKE.
I agree. It took away so much of the atmosphere. It always used to be electric!
Ah Nostalgia just isn't what it used to be. I remember the early rides, the train ride to go to Frontier Town, and I loved the Frontier lift that was like a ski lift with gondolas, the Space Spiral, the Rotor ride that spun you around, the floor dropped down and WE were ALL held to the wall by centrifugal force, and of course the Blue Streak! I think my first time visiting was 1966, as a kid....from Ypsilanti Michigan. I haven't been there in years now.
I bet if you visited now you would still recognise some things from your visits! The Rotor is included in another of my videos showcasing more lost rides from the park, many from the earlier years of Cedar Point.
I miss a bug’s land, it was fun, ever since they closed it to make way for avengers crappus i’ve despied marvel and the avengers
I loved A Bug’s Land too, especially the cute and quirky theming. I didn’t like how you could see the Tower of Terror, until a tour guide said to me that it was as if A Bug’s Land was in the hotel’s front lawn. Suddenly gazing up at the tower the perspective made total sense!
@@CoasterConnectionsthat’s actually pretty cool.
I despised a bugs life.
i loved innoventions
I did too! I loved that the rotating building was kept when it was transformed.
Heimlichs chew chew train is the only thing I miss from this list, the rest can stay buried in History.
That certainly was a fun little ride, it was one that got better with time as the landscaping matured. I loved the park when it first opened, but looking back and visiting at all points of its evolution I can see its flaws.
@@CoasterConnectionshopefully web slingers gets added to this list 😂
@@dayoldbread1696I agree, Webslingers is an awful ride
Even Tower of Terror? Lol
@@jacob_e_lynch glad I’m not the only one who hates it lol
The bat is still at kings island I got there every summer and fall
The one in the park today is a completely new ride. Check out my recent video for the full history of the ride.
I was only able to ride Truma Towers the once but i do remember it fondly. Was crazy, is that blackpool took nearly 10 years to demolish it after its last ride. 😮
I remember it fondly too, riding for the first time and not knowing what was going to happen!
I could have sworn Magic Mountain popped up at Southport Pleasureland in 2024. We definitely went on something incredibly similar for the first time there but I've checked the site today and there is no mention of this attraction for 2025.
Thats something I might have to research. I know that had a river caves style boat ride, so it's possible that had something similar.
The Bat still very much exists, it’s just hard to get to :/ I rode it this past summer!
The bat that exists today is a completely different ride. Check out my recent video for a full history of the original!
I remember riding timberline twister a year or two ago. Quite bumpy
Yes the replacement is much smoother! 😁
@ haven’t went on it yet. I’ll probably try it later though
2:50 this was absolutely wicked and futuristic to my 10-year-old head
I have similar memories. When I was younger this seemed like an amazing place.
@@CoasterConnectionsI’m talking specifically about Tokaydo Express. That and the turtle chase next to it were my fav rides xxx
It was a mandatory to go on monster as soon as you came on in the park. First you had to go on Noah’s Ark actually and then monster. Tore it down for the PlayStation ice blast thing
They did indeed replace it with Playstation/Ice Blast. There are some monster rides still around if you know where to look. I rode some recently in the U.S. and they are still fun!
Me and my brother rode the hypersonic with my niece and nephew when it was brand new. Scared the hell outta me.
I can imagine it did! It's one ride I would have loved to have experienced.
Don’t tell me Noah’s Ark is gone? I’m all about Noah’s Ark. It was the first thing you did when you went through the gates. There is a special rung in hell for the people who made the decision to shut this
Unfortunately it is, and the worst part is it still sits there on top of the entrance as a reminder of what once was!
Log jammer was better than jet stream
I love how it followed the terrain of the mountainside.
This is why I always ride in the middle train.
I do love the front row, seeing all the inversions coming up!
Hypersonic XLC cost me a pair of glasses back 2005, I don’t know how I was allowed to ride it with em still on my face but the coaster removed them for me😂😂
I hope you could still see a bit without them! I always wear a strap and they even stayed on for Kingda Ka.
@ I could, just driving at night was a lil dicey but if in the daylight I didn’t really need them. 20 years later I very much need them in the daylight even😂😂😂😂
I remember riding this in 2005. It was definitely revolutionary for that time.
It certainly was! Thanks for watching!
You could hear this thing all across the entire park wherever you were
Those air powered rides have such a distinct sound.
Holy crap king da ka replacement could be a taller more modern version of this if they wanted
Now that would be amazing! Just don't let Zamperla anywhere near it!
@ heyyyy it was zamperlas first time doing tt2 give slack lol
I rode Maxx Force this year in June my first time at Six Flags Great America it blew me away how sudden the launch was I would have loved to ride this one
I agree, I would love to see more rides like this.
