    Grew up riding the corkscrew at Knotts. Now I’m in my 40s and moved to north Idaho where that legendary coaster at Silverwood still sits and OPERATES. Riding the same coaster in two different states is something I’m very proud of.

    What a trip down memory lane! Knott's was one of the first places where my friend & I - ages 12 & 13 respectively - were allowed to spend the day without adult supervision. The first time we went, her mom dropped us off with the dire warning if we weren't at the agreed-upon meeting spot ready to be picked up at 8:00 pm, she would never take us again. Needless to say we were at the spot by 7:30, just in case LOL. It was such fun seeing some of my old favorites again: Corkscrew, Wacky Soap Box Derby, Knott's Bear-y Tales, and the Haunted Shack (once I got picked to sit in the chair-stuck-to-the-wall, so cool). Thanks for posting!

    I actually used to ride on Kingdom of the Dinosaurs as a kid back in the late 90s and early 2000s, and it was my favorite ride at Knott's Berry Farm. Though it's long extinct, it will always have a place in my heart, and I would love to see it return one day. 🦕🦖🦣

      I grew up visiting Knott's Berry Farm during the 90's and early 2000's. I still remember the soundtrack that would play in different parts of Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, it's too bad that they didn't release a cd with the songs from the ride after it got closed in 2004. I never got the chance to ride Soap Box Racers, but I do remember the construction that was going on when the park was building Windjammer Surf Racers. I was very upset when Knott's got rid of the Parachute Sky Jump, they removed the arm structure during 2002 with the construction of Xcelerator. I also remember riding Grand Slammer and Tampico Tumbler in Fiesta Village a couple of times, they both got removed during 2003. I wish that Knott's could bring some of their past rides.

    • @CoasterConnections
      @CoasterConnections  3 месяца назад +1

      Some great memories here, thank you for sharing. It’s amazing just how many rides have come and gone at this park. Probably due to its small size Knott’s has needed to take something out to build something new!

    • @elmono6299
      @elmono6299 3 месяца назад +2

      However, if I was given the idea to resurrect the Kingdom of the Dinosaurs. Here's my pitch: it would be a fast-paced dark ride similar to Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, The Revenge of the Mummy, and its Disney cousin, Countdown to Extinction but with a light-gun shooter similar to Men In Black Alien Attack. It will retain the soundtrack and sound effects of the prehistoric beasts and remove the educational dialogue entirely.
      I imagine the commercial saying, "In the summer of 1987, there came Kingdom of the Dinosaurs (T.rex roars)! A dark ride that ruled the park for 17 years. But in 2004, it became extinct(shows image of the ride in ruins)! And since then, it has been gone............that is until now! (Que Retro synthwave music) Now it is back! Kingdom of the Dinosaurs has finally returned to rule the park! Go back to the summer of 1987, the grandson of Dr. Wells has invented a new and improved time machine that will set you back. However, what was supposed to be a travel to prehistory ends up going hay wire as the past travels back into the future! These ferocious beasts are now roaming in the present, and its up to you to send them back! Prepare yourself for an adventure of a lifetime, as you're about to walk into the Kingdom of the Dinosaurs! ROAWWRR!!!!"
      I picture the remake/reboot of Kingdom of the Dinosaurs as a follow up to the original ride in which it keep the same animals and environments like before, though this time some of environmental hazards and dangerous dinosaurs and beasts will try to attack (of course, no harm is done to the riders. It's there for the thrills). But luckily for the rider, they're given a light gun that will zap the beasts back to their time-line. The animals and cave men are going to be portrayed as scientifically accurate and are going to look more realistic as well. Also, instead of starting out in the 1920s, it will instead be set in 1987 with a bit of 80's camp as a homage to the year it came out. Much like before, after the ride ends, riders exit through the gift shop and retro arcade that includes a lot of old arcade games from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. That's my idea for a Return to Kingdom of the Dinosaurs if Knott's decides to one day bring it back. I highly doubt it, but it's wishful thinking. 🦖🦕🦣🦤

    Do you think the reason the Sky Jump closed was because Supreme Scream made the ride feel outdated?
    One attraction you forgot to mention was the Gasoline Alley, which was basically the Knott's equivalent of the Autopia but themed to the Roaring 20's area. It was located under the Wacky Soap Box Racers and closed along with it when construction began on Wind Jammer.

    I used to live in Buena Park for about four years until 2018, but I've kept up with the new updates for Knott's Berry Farm. I used to talk to the employees about adding another layer of track to Xcelerator and have the trains race against each other, calling it Xcelerator Drag Racers. That would've taken care of the two hours of waiting in line, especially during the summer. I have always had a theory that Coast Rider is Windjammer, with only using the yellow track. It would be great if they were to bring back the Parachute ride, I'm sure the new generation would get a kick out of it. Both Parachute Sky Jump and Supreme Scream ran together during 1998 and 1999 seasons. Knott's could wipe out Soak City waterpark, as it only operates during the summertime. They would give them plenty of room to expand the park on the other side of Beach Blvd and add some new rides.

      @@CoasterConnections My absolute fave flat ride ever was the Tampico Tumbler!!! From what my research has indicated, the last remaining known version of this ride-type was seen at a fair in Washington State. It’s a Zierer Hexentanz.
      I was so lucky to grow up with Knott’s. I can actually remember the older children’s area at the back of the park, and got to watch them build the first Camp Snoopy! It was torture, because we drove right past the construction every day for what felt like an eon! 😆😆😆

      @@CoasterConnections yes, I totally agree. I know that keeping up with the Joneses does have some merit but not at the expense of something iconic that many people remember and enjoyed. The park used to have Mystery Lodge too, which was Native American based. It was a walk thru attraction but it’s still part of the Knotts themeing that was totally forgotten.
