      But they sent it to Six Flags Great America and they sent a chiller replacement meant for six flags Gadv to magic mountain.
      They need someone new to ship the roller coasters haha. Though much as I enjoyed V2 I do think Great America needed something like this-perhaps not so soon but it has it now so that's good.

    Maxx Force has the most forceful launch in the US at 2.09 g forces. TTD`s launch, although it propels the train to a higher final velocity, comes at 1.63 g forces. Maxx Force has grey-out gs a nifty barrel roll, and packs in a ton in 20 seconds or so. It gets a 9 from me.

    More of these S&S! Also, more X2/Dinoconda/Eejanaika style 4D coasters. I guess that means that parks need to demand these. That means that we all need to demand that our parks demand these.
    I just wish this had a top hat and was a bit longer. But this is such a good complement to an already excellent coaster collection. I can think of several parks that would really benefit from an S&S compressed air launch coaster.

    • @ryan_n05
      @ryan_n05 4 года назад +2

      The issue is that S&S coasters tend to have lots of downtime, therefore making a ride from them less appealing to parks.

      X2 is one of the most expensive coaster out there

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 4 года назад

      @@animeleek I'm not sure why people keep pointing out that X2 was expensive. Yes, everyone knows that. I'm saying that it's still fantastic and that there are still more expensive coasters out there that are somehow successful. Verbolten was also very expensive and yet no one seems to declare it to be a failure.
      The reason that X was such a difficult project was because Arrow had underestimated the cost and time, not to mention they were cash strapped and overstretched. But now S&S knows how to do these coasters and what the realistic estimates are. I see no reason why a bigger park that's willing to spend some money (like the Busch Gardens parks, Hershend Parks or a few of the elite Cedar Fair parks, not to mention many of the parks in Europe) wouldn't be able to budget for a big 4D coaster.

    • @oneandonlysound3453

      @@zacg_ it's also been a long time now and they don't have to be as weighed down (they have supports going super deep into the ground at SFMM) or as long/big either if they so choose (like how smaller divecoasters exist, it's the best example) either. I'd also like to see more work like Steel Curtain, especially with the endless chaos of removing arrow coasters there aren't enough not B&M or intamin steel coasters in parks anymore that pack a punch like them.

    "It is a very good supporting roller coaster to Great America's lineup" -Every coaster in Great America's lineup is a supporting coaster. They don't really have a stand-out, at least compared to what other large parks in the US have to offer.

    • @Ahuis-wv8pb
      @Ahuis-wv8pb 4 года назад +8

      noname117spore so Goliath is a supporting coaster? Raging Bull is a supporting coaster?

    • @noname117spore
      @noname117spore 4 года назад +19

      @@Ahuis-wv8pb At many other large parks they would be. I mean, they are considered amongst the worst of their coaster class, and even if both coaster classes are good being amongst the worst of the class just means that other parks comparatively have better stand-outs. For Six Flags parks, at the very least Magic Mountain, Great Adventure, and New England have better stand-outs, and there's an argument to be made for America and Darien Lake having a better top coaster than Great America. Right, and probably Fiesta Texas and Mexico as well. In regards to parks in other chains, at least every Cedar Fair park with a giga has a better set of stand-outs. Maybe Kings Island as well (at the present, they definitely will when Orion is built). I'd argue both Busch Gardens parks have at least 1 better coaster than Great America. Seaworld Orlando too. Kentucky Kingdom as well. Dollywood definitely, and maybe Silver Dollar City too (since I've heard Outlaw Run is better than Goliath). That's really not a good look when so many other parks, including ones with half your coaster count, have better coasters than you have.
      Basically, Goliath and Raging Bull really aren't special coasters, and are amongst the weakest in their classes. As such, many other parks in America have at least 1 better coaster than those at Great America, and in terms of destination coasters to go visit Raging Bull and Goliath don't stand out compared to their contemporaries, or the other quality coasters at other parks. Which means they aren't good stand-outs. They're kind of forced into that position due to the park having nothing better. Honestly, I'd argue Maxx Force's launch makes it a better stand-out since the coaster at least does something unique for American coasters.
      And honestly, I think the lack of quality stand-outs in Great America's lineup, combined with the number of clone/cloned coasters makes it not a good destination park (lineup-wise). In terms of coaster-lineup, it's basically just a really large local park, serving the Chicagoland area and not really being a park many go out of their way to visit. And honestly, the only significant park in the 3rd largest city in America deserves to have better than a large but mediocre lineup.

    • @oneandonlysound3453
      @oneandonlysound3453 4 года назад +10

      idk, while I find some of the alleged "top ones" lacking-particulary raging bull AND stupid vest restraint X-Flight, they do have some pretty cool coasters. They take excellent care of their batman the ride clone, to me it's the best one out there. Goliath may not be long but is very good, and american eagle is the best out of and back wooden coaster (that isn't say, a really good GCI) out there. This is of course leaving out Maxx Force as an insane launcher-how can it a supporter, that's V2's job. And tbh, this still ignores whizzer-a near one of a kind that is way more crazy than it looks, and even demon. VIper too-it's still pretty nice, where Georgia Cyclone wasn't b4 it was converted (to not even be any better really-seriously someone dropped the ball on that design a lot). Actually, I get why this park doesn't get proper credit for a top 5-it's not all standout RMC and B&M, it's full of classic stuff and new stuff combined, aka the way it should be.

    • @joetill2994
      @joetill2994 4 года назад +14

      I agree that Great America could use a coaster even better than Goliath, but I think it is a bit overboard to say they have “all supporting coasters”. Most people say that even a weaker RMC is better than 95% of other coasters. And I actually don’t think Goliath is even the worst, as it has the best first drop and one of the best airtime hills and inversions. It just isn’t quite the endurance test of intensity that some of the others are. Great America is the best park for depth outside of Cedar Point and SFMM. At what other park is an impulse coaster arguably not even in their top 10??? I think their lineup is fantastic, they could just use that undeniable top 10 coaster

    • @danthecoasterman22
      @danthecoasterman22 4 года назад +10

      noname117spore I wouldn’t call raging bull and Goliath “supporting coasters”. I wouldn’t call any parks best coasters supporting coasters. When you compare raging bull and Goliath to other park’s top two or three, yes, they are a bit weaker. SFGAm does lack that ELITE coaster. But to say they are supporting coasters just doesn’t seem right. They aren’t elite but they are headlining attractions for the park

I never even thought about that the ride experience could be much better if they added a little bit of theming before the launch to hype you up more. I'm abit late to the party in terms of this ride and video but I just rode it for the first time on Monday and WOW. I've got over 100 coasters under my belt finally and at the moment I think this is now number 3, behind the two Intamin gigas. The amount of absolute insanity that takes place in such a short span of time is just so spectacular. I have been on TTD and this launch just kicks it's ass - the only thing is that it doesn't last as long but I'll take the extra intensity. It's been about a decade since a coaster has left me with involuntary emotional responses giggling nonstop uncontrollably on the brake run) but this one did it. Got two spins on it and for the moment at least, this baby is a 9.5/10 and a number 3 for me.

But I put it as my 5th favorite ride in the park, but numbers 2-4 aren't far ahead. So I agree that it is a very good supporting coaster. so,ive ridden this ride 25 times & i loved your review on the ride. i myself believe that MaxxForce in an amazing ride and def adds a nice UMPH to the lineup at SFGA. ALTHOUGH i do feel like they could have themed the ride ALOT more. they could have even added a photo op in there during the launch, that would've been cool. I also wish that the airtime hill directly after the launch was actually AIRTIME FILLED. i was disappointed to feel absolutely no airtime during that section of the ride. but the dog tongue double inversion def delivered an amazing view of the back corner of the park. i loved looking at my favorite ride (Goliath) from the top of that 175ft inversion. directly after that i felt amazing positive g's during that section where you go underneath the "airtime hill" and into the 60mph zero g roll, WHICH BY THE WAY feels like zero g lol. during that moment im completely out of my seat and in the back of the train you're absolutely whipped through that and it feels amazing. the ending of the ride also was beautiful with the swaying back and fourth and the dive loop/ brake run. i honestly loved the ride and it def delivered every time for me. i give the ride a 9/10 solely because of there being very little theming for the ride. Demon has theming, Raging Bull has theming, Superman has theming , Goliath has theming , hell even our 4D free spin (joker) has theming hahaha. the ride is still amazing honestly. i loved it.

    i will say if you go into Maxx Force expecting a middle of the road intensity and keep those expectations lowered then you will leave enjoying things. the thing that i love is when this thing takes off the pop of the air launch travels all the way across the parking lot and on a slow day can be heard from goliath. so while standing in line hearing that thing launch off every 2 minutes or so kinda builds the anticipation.it makes you enjoy it more if you wait in line instead of getting the walk on.

    Just rode it last weekend. The roll was great because it is so fast. My favorite part is that on the launch, you feel when catch car lets go and then there is a little bitty float before you head up into the dog tongue. the low turn under the track is a great head chopper feeling.
    Only other launch coasters I have ridden were Tidal Wave (when I was a kid), 3 different V2 versions, and TTD.
    I love this coaster but I went into it with an open mind, looking it as its own thing and I wasn't disappointed. could it use more theming? sure, is it still a great coaster without it? Yup. I think next year, when they get all of the landscaping sorted, it will look much better. if they add a fog machine on the outbound side of the tunnel it could be cool also.

    S&S: Just a little strange.
    They should use this as there slogan.
    They started out making some different rides, invented the air compressed thing from drop tower to coaster,
    have returned the making of a not B&M or intamin steel coaster more akin to arrow/vekoma but way improved,
    and are back are these air compressed along with stuff like Galeforce (way underrated, though you rode it with the old track),
    I want to see one of there launching inverts next (from iaapa videos), as well as someone to build there return of the old steeplechase type.
    Not to mention their massive monetary success with the free spins. Suspended arrow type next please.

    This is in NO way meant to be argumentative with any of your points. Without having ridden it, I can’t disagree. What I will say in Six Flags’ defense on theming is this…. Air launch coasters are MASSIVELY expensive to install and maintain. I can speak from first hand experience. It is a shame they didn’t do more with the launch on theming. I’m sure cost was the killer there. An air launch can only be found in two parks in the US, and it’s something special to experience. If they could have merged the design of that ride with the theming on the Do Dodonpa launch, they’d have had something difficult to top. Love your reviews!! 👍🏻

    I'll be honest, the anticipation, I find in the alarm sounding and when the brake pads (I think that's what they are) drop and once they're all down it delays a tiny bit then launches, I think that causes a really good false anticipation because it makes you think you'll launch immediately but it doesn't, which can catch you off guard a bit which is why I think the anticipation is actually excellent

  • @deborahbyrd5520
    @deborahbyrd5520 3 года назад

    In RCT3 I built a ride kinda like maxxforce except it has 7 inversions featuring a dive loop a sidewinder a zero g roll a sea serpent roll a corkscrew and a vertical loop.It is short but instead of lasting about 20 seconds like maxxforce it lasts about 45 seconds.Which still is a bit short.But Anyways it had a launch but it used a launch on its lift hill.It’s kinda like the Incredible Hulk coaster.

      Indeed, and I've been wanting to visit for some time, but I'm in FL and while CP, KW, KI all make for a fairly natural and not too bad trip, (or I can hit other parks during my layovers) this one is so far out there. But I'll prob just cave and spend the extra day of travel to get there.

    Maybe they could add a tunnel over the launch. Not only to at least put on some chaser lights or something, but you can hear that launch from literally anywhere in the park. Over by Goliath? Audible. I can only imagine how bad it sounds in the waterpark, which is right by it.

    I agree with you on the building up the ride's launch, but at the same time I think it's better without it cause when I feel like It could take away it's predictability of when it launches even watching it in the station and then sitting there on the launchpad anxious and then you take off I think it great that it doesn't have it, some would like to have a count down but it's more fun without and that's what I like about it, again I agree with the building up the launch but at the same time it's better to be different than the same, great review tyler

    I rember you had problems with steel curtain saying things like it wasnt the most intense well you do kinda have to go in with that mindset because it was designed carefully so it would be intense but not too intense so everyone could enjoy it Steel Curtain is a verry fun and enjoyable ride. Btw you should try Steel Curtain more i realy think your thoughts about it will change If not the best its the 2nd best coaster in the park get to rideing it a few more times you wont be dissapointed Steel Curatin is a realy good and fun ride once you get more rides on Steel Curatin i am sure you like it more than this ride.

    I rode it 3 times this past weekend (for the 1st time). It was OK, but I would rank it about 5th for their coasters. I timed it at about a 22 second ride. Each time I rode it they assigned a seat, so the choice of seats as not an option. I like Goliath, Raging Bull, Viper, and X-Flight better. Also that cannon shot on each launch (which actually can be heard on the other side of the park) is horribly annoying the entire day. What is odd is you do not hear it much when on the ride itself.
