I know a lot of you won’t understand this feeling, but having Great America as my home park has made Raging Bull one of my favorite coasters ever. It’s just that one ride that is extremely classic and so fun to marathon with friends and cheer the whole duration of the ride.

I've been on many roller coasters, and I may be biased since Great America is my home park, but that out-of-your-seat pull you get on the first drop of Raging Bull in the very back seat is an experience that will NEVER get old.

This was my childhood park, so seeing you give it love means a lot. Live in Florida now so idk if I’ll ever be able to go back. But yeah raging bull man.. it’s the best. So many memories

Solid Top 4, I'd swap Batman w/Superman. Viper is fresh. I would love to see what RMC would be able to do with American Eagle. I look at it and see so much lumber. I can just picture a ton of headchoppers, airtime moments and inversions, kind of like Steel Vengeance, but a lot closer to the ground. I just see so much untapped potential. Great list

I've been going here for over 30 years. They have a very well rounded coaster collection.
must do's of the park for sure are raging bull and goliath, and honestly xflight is super underrated and i would highly recommend that one. try to hit up raging bull early in the day because lines get really long later in the afternoon, and lines for goliath tend to be decently sized right around lunch time, every time i've ridden it around then it hasn't been more than a 20 minute wait

@@ThemeParkAvenue Oh yeah it was rough. It was way shakier than American Eagle and the ride lasts for almost 3 minutes. It’s not a bad ride but when it comes to visiting Great America it just isn’t a priority ride for me.
I haven't been on Maxx Force, Sprocket Rockets or V2 yet, for various reasons (broken down, too old to ride kids coasters when it opened and too fat/terrified, in that order), but I've been on a couple no longer there when it was my home park, so my ranking is:
#14: Shockwave: damn near gave me a concussion
#13 Iron Wolf: between this ride and drinking too much Mountain Dew as a kid I probably can't have kids
#12 Little Dipper
#11 Dark Knight: I waited way too long opening year to realize it was a wild mouse coaster
#10 Joker: I neither love nor hate free spins, they're kinda just there. Something I'd probably ride if it were a walk on
#9 American Eagle: really loses points since I haven't seen it dueling in years
#8 Demon: it was my first looping coaster, and it wasn't as bad as the other Arrow looper in the park (on another note did any other parks have multiple Arrow coasters with inversions besides Great America and Magic Mountain?)
#7 Whizzer: Not only was the Whizzer my first coaster, but it's a damn good family ride to this day
#6 Superman: a definite improvement over what was in that spot before, and better than any other flying coaster not made by B&M
#5: Batman: I think if these weren't rightfully cloned enthusiasts would like this one better
#4 Goliath: it's great but really quick and from my ride felt a little rougher than Viper, despite being almost 20 years younger
#3 Viper: One of my favorite wooden coasters, and still really smooth for being built in the 90s.
#2 X Flight: highly underrated, and the best wing coaster in the whole chain. The keyholes feel so much tighter than Gatekeeper or Thunderbird
#1 Raging Bull. The first drop gives the best airtime on any ride that isn't 325 feet tall, and the twister section at the end is a legitimately solid way to end the ride, it's never been out of my top 3 coasters.
Good list. Since I rode Firebird, I can confirm that Iron Wolf still sucks.
Raging Bull is my favorite there too. It’s my favorite B&M hyper that I’ve ridden and even beats Diamondback, And Orion. This park feels like a home park to me even though I live in KC but it’s because my family is from Chicago so whenever I visit family (annually) my uncle takes me up there. It’s my favorite six flags park and is a blast everytime

Mad respect to this ranking. While some of mine differ, I do agree with most of what you're saying about some of these. Raging Bull takes my top spot too as it was my first experience on a B&M hyper last summer and that first drop in the last row rocked my face off. Superman takes the #3 spot for me due to the strong force on my chest at the bottom of the pretzel loop. and X-Flight surprised me since watching POVs of it gave the impression it'd be forceless but it definitely wasn't.
Heck yeah! There are so many great rides at the park.
Having been to only a handful of coaster centered parks (cedar point, kings island) raging bull is still my favorite ride mainly because of that first drop. The way it whips you over after that pre drop (especially in the back row) is to this day the best ejector airtime I’ve experienced. I’m probably biased because it’s my home park lol.
Raging Bull is an awesome ride.
Raging Bull was my first coaster ever. The front is great, but so is the back, especially going over the first drop! Batman is one of my favorites though, especially the first drop.

I loved the Raging Bull, Superman, Goliath, Viper, Maxx Force(didnt even feel maxx force, no gs at all except the launch) liked the dark knight coaster, batman the ride(my dad was sick after batman the ride, and my legs hurt but it was still fun) HATED Demon and Joker.

I agree with you on Raging Bull!! I kept hearing people call it the weakest b&m hyper and was pleasantly surprised
I’ve never been to that park, but it looks stacked! It’s interesting that Superman’s Pretzel 🥨 Loop is at the beginning of the ride. I’ve only been on Tatsu and I love the pretzel 🥨 loop at the end.

I havent been to Great America in over 10 years, but I'm happy to see my favorite coaster (Raging Bull) can still be considered a #1 or top tier coaster after so much time has passed!
Definitely an awesome ride.
My GAm hot takes:
1. Demon is slept on. It's a sick night ride with all the lights popping, and the theme song on the way in makes it feel like a museum exhibit. I also have a soft spot for Arrow and I'm totally willing to play defense through those corkscrews because they just feel so bizarre.
2. V2 is a one-rider. I get bored on impulses, and after the first launch I'm ready to be done--in fact I haven't been on in like a decade. Maxx Force is almost that category for me but the launch being that aggro makes it more worthwhile.
3. American Eagle is well past the end of its life. Any ride gathering as much algae as AE is should probably be on the way out. Viper's the better woodie.
4. The roughness help make Viper and Goliath what they are. Guess I'm into getting banged up.
5. Fuck I love Demon.
Demon is one many like and I respect that.
Y'know, now that Six Flags is working with B&M again, I think X-Flight could start seeing a lot of clones at more of their parks.
I’d love some more wing coasters, but I’d prefer different themes.
this is my home themepark and i agree with this line up. except for one part, the whizzer is my number 1. also batman is scary to me and everytime the maxx force booster makes that loud BOOM sound, it always gets me

So, so excited to see Raging Bull at the top of this list. I’ve seen it play second fiddle to Goliath in a LOT of rankings and I’m just glad it’s getting the hype it deserves. I am a raging bull truther til I DIE!!!!
Honestly for Maxx Force, I’d put it at 3. I got some amazing hang time from the first inversion, especially because the restraints are lap bars. X-Flight is a great ride, but would barely make my top 5. Mid-ride when I rode on the edge seat, the restraint tightened on my torso even more and locked into that position. It bothered me, but the ride is still fun.
The vest on X-Flight can definitely be a dampener on the ride sometimes.
Raging Bull has excellent air time. Great first drop, and awesome banked turnes. Not to mention speed.
I've never seen a traveling enthusiast enjoy Demon, but everyone from around here was up in arms when they even mentioned the idea of getting rid of it lol. A headbanger though for sure
Yeah, that seems to be a common thing. Those Arrow corkscrews are just brutal for me.
Also surprised you enjoyed Joker so much! I think it's a lower tier S&S but it definitely has its decent rides
It’s definitely the nostalgia for Demon. It was my first ever “big” roller coaster as a kid, and all 25-30 times I’ve gone I go on Demon first. It’s just a tradition at this point.

Raging Bull is always my 1st. Into the park anytime during and the last one out. Wont lie though my 1st hyper coaster ever and I'm 34 now I believe it came out 99 but definitely so fun and Batman the ride my second all time. I'll wait hours to ride it as much as I can!!!🤙🤙maxxforce was kinda overrated loll dosen't scare me as the log run that still gets me especially cause its so old 🤣 nut great video I'm going back Thursday morning. My last visit was the 8th of August and it rained!!! Highly recommend goin. Some rides including maxxforce were down here and there but everything else was open for the most and raging bull in the rain and batman just amazing and hardly any waiting so I was able to ride almost everything twice. All in a poncho 🤣🤣🤘🤘
Raging Bull is among the most fun coasters out there.

About american eagle, they seem to be alternating which side runs every year. Last year was red side, this year was blue. I prefer the red side, personally

Yeah, at least with staffing shortages since the pandemic. Maintenance is short staffed too, so everything is operating at bare minimum.
Red is definitely the better side, the back-to-back ejector hills in the second half are incredible (compared to blue's long flat curve between two floater hills)

as a local i think the last time the red side ran was at least 5 years ago, if not longer. i remember riding it my first time i was on the red side and maybe once after that, but it's almost always been the blue side, and as long as i've been going there they've never operated at the same time
I would love the opportunity to ride the red side, though that seems unlikely.
@@ThemeParkAvenue i remember it was a little bit smoother, but honestly aside from the credit you aren't missing a whole lot by only riding the blue side. i wish they would race again though that would be really cool, but it seems highly unlikely
Man, the whole purpose of the ride is for it to be racing red and blue trains on a white coaster, hence the name "American Eagle". I do remember when the cars used to race some years back and my car would always lose, lol
I rode the red side in November 2021. It was a great time.
They don’t race anymore red and blue sides, due to the structural concerns of the ride.
Red side of American Eagle ran last season and this season it’s Blue side. They seem to switch off every so other season, but they don’t race anymore. I do agree though that Red side is better! Lot more airtime I felt like.

@@ThemeParkAvenue Personally I wasn't too impressed by the B&Ms in this park.
I've never been the biggest fan of B&M hypers, hence why Raging Bull is a bit lower than usual. I do love Raging Bull's twister layout though, and if it actually had solid airtime combined with the strong forces it would rank a lot higher.
I also find Superman flyers to be insanely overrated and an absolute snoozefest. Outside of the pretzel loop, I could literally fall asleep the rest of the ride it's so boring and uneventful.
X-Flight was pretty disappointing. I think the layout could be fun, but the old vest restraints kill it for me. I either have to ride defensively by bench pressing the vest, or feel like your suffocating. Either way is physically exhausting.

As someone whose home park is Valleyfair, I've recently bought a season pass here instead. I can say with confidence that it is way more worth it to come here and have to drive 7 total more hours than it is to go to valleyfair tbh

For some reason the first big roller coaster I ever rode was Batman and I was freaking out in the queue line, however, the first drop was so fun and it’s probably my favorite roller coaster in the park. Raging bull is good too.

Raging bull is my favorite, and viper, what’s everyone’s favorite haunted house? Mine is gates of hell, if you are a starter at fright fest I recommend gates of hell, they are very kind if you are a crier and they are very nice too! I love Halloween =)

I do feel like raging bull is the best as well. Its TRULY a textbook roller coaster. If somehow I could only ride one rollercoaster ever , this is it.

X-Flight is easily better than Gatekeeper to me. Gatekeeper is lacking a lot of force and X-Flight has that in SPADES. AND the keyhole element is better than any I’ve seen on other winged coasters.
I respect that, but I find Gatekeeper more forceful than most do. That said, I agree that the near-miss portion is better on X-Flight.
@@ThemeParkAvenue To me, Gatekeeper has the superior location next to Lake Erie and over the entrance. That part of it is cool, but it’s just big and forceless to me. X-Flight on the wing seats is almost too intense at points. That ending helix on the edge seats will efficiently rearrange your brain. I like the more aggressive rides I get on X-Flight.
The only reason people like gatekeeper more is because it’s at cedar point. Also it has the worst ending of any coaster ever
@@tdog8600 it’s ending is quite literally on par with X-Flight’s. Different flaws but same quality. I like Gatekeeper more than others but I feel hit beats Gatkeeper for stronger elements. They are neck-and-neck though.
@@ThemeParkAvenue I respectfully disagree. X-Flight goes straight from its SICK keyhole element RIGHT into a tight and intense helix. It’s not even a close contest IMO. I do love Gatekeeper. It’s setting is one of the best ever and it’s one of the most beautiful and photogenic coasters I’ve ever seen. And its first drop is the best on a wing coaster. After that drop tho, Gatekeeper doesn’t compare to X-Flight IMO.
I have been going to great america since I was 5.
My dad first took me there, and I was obsessed and still are. I wish yankee harbor was still there but I’m fine with DC UNIVERSE. I did go twice in 2022, after not going for 2 1/2 years from COVDID-19.
My favorite has to be Raging Bull, it’s enjoyable for what it is and therefore my fav, it’s smooth and awesome.

Good list! I haven't gotten to MF yet, and I would put batman over superman...but that basically lines up with what I feel about the park as well... I love AE...enjoyed Goliath, but the length of RB is just untouchable...its the tallest coaster in the park, has one of the most varied layouts, and is one of the longest rides there!

Interesting, I recently ranked these on r/rollercoasters as a first time visitor and put Maxx Force at #2. I only got one ride on Maxx Force and it was in the front row; luckily from what it sounds like. That's surprising to me because I usually feel like the back row is the best place to be on most coasters
It is on many coasters, but launch coasters like Maxx Force and Top Thrill Dragster are definitely best in the front.

nah it ranks 4th in roller coaster lineups for six flags imo cus it doesnt have a real standout while mm great avdenture and fiesta texas all have 2
I guess, but Fiesta Texas doesn’t have the depth to match Great America in my opinion and Great Adventure might be a bit better but it’s close.

I get season passes every year to Great America! My top 2 are Raging Bull and Goliath as well. Goliath only takes 2nd bc it's so short. I agree with Maxx Force too. WAY too short of a ride.

Im going soon for my semior trip and i am terrified of roller coasters. Are there any that you recommend for beginners?
Whizzer is definitely a good one to start with. If you want to work your way up from there, maybe try Viper and American Eagle next. Most if the other major rides are very thrilling, but Batman will probably be the best introduction to going upside down if you’re willing to take that leap. Sit near the front but not in the front on these rides if you can because the back tends to be more intense.

I think it’s a bit too thrilling for a beginner working their way up. I suggest Whizzer and Viper before Batman for sure.
@@ThemeParkAvenue just got back from the park, I tried viper first and I didn’t really like it much, so I stayed off Batman. But before we could go on viper, I was batman was stuck on the chain lift. Great America is super underrated in my opinion.

American Eagle alternates whoich side they run each year. This year is blue side, red is better

@@ThemeParkAvenue You know that kinda dead spot where blue dives under red and the hills out? Red gets an airtime hill there. It makes all the difference to me. It's still rough, but the ride isn't just straight track for a good few seconds like on blue

LOL my first time on Superman my car keys fell out! Luckily I saw them land on a platform and the employees got them for me. The ride sucks except for the pretzel loop tho
Also, I'm shocked to hear you say Goliath was rough. When I last rode in 2016 it was smooth as glass. Probably got bumpy over time.

Unpopular opinion. But raging bull is my number 3 here. First drop is great on it. But you don't get the sense of speed throughout the entire second half that you do on most hypers. I do understand that it has a different type of layout than other hypers but it almost seems to have an identity crisis lol.

It’s a crime to rank Batman that low. It’s the only acceptable clone in existence.
It is a truly great ride, but it’s at #6 because Great America has so many great coasters. To put it in perspective, Batman the Ride is my #4 at Magic Mountain.
I just have a question for anyone who can help 😂 I’m terrified of roller coasters but only because I cannot handle the stomach drop feeling. Is there any six flags great America coasters that have very little of this feeling ? 😅

It’s a great ride, I just find others to be better. At most other Six Flags parks American Eagle would definitely be top 5. Remember I ride the blue side.

This is my home park and from riding both Goliath and raging bull countless times I can confidently say that Goliath is the better of the two, while it is shorter I believe the pure intensity and fun factor of the ride helps it edge out raging bull
Fair. I personally have more fun on Raging Bull.
