    The operations and layout of Kingda Ka are better than Top Thrill Dragster but the restraints and smoothness goes to Top Thrill Dragster. I really hope that TTD can make a safe and secure return in 2022

    I loved kingda ka. You feel the extra speed compared to dragster and if you’re in the front you may get a decent pop of airtime. I also got a duel when I rode zumanjaro. That was an insane experience. I agree with you on the launch. For whatever reason dragsters launch seems a bit more powerful

    New Jersey has told Six Flags no for the Soft shoulder OSTR since the law all rides of 300ft need a OTSR

    • @oneandonlysound3453
      @oneandonlysound3453 2 года назад

      Nj can't make up it's about anything though, they let this same park operate a scrambler where single riders are fine, but a pier park (Casino Pier) has to have two riders. They say it's state law. The only difference between them is one is inside and the other is outside. The outside has one person usually who may or may see anything. Inside they have like eight cameras to view and see everyoen plus like 2-3 employees not including those scanning people. The "model" is indentical. No logic to be found in that. Also cause a dumbass fell out of a ferris wheel, same thing. Meanwhile you have one that is practically impossible to get out of the way they built it but still enforce the law, all but one place but pretty sure they are supposed too. It's like the "revolution" scenario where one dumbass made it have shoulder harnesses for so long-wasn't the ride's fault, at least people are able to ride it properly now.

    Racing Kingda Ka’s train down the tower from the POV of the drop tower looks amazing! It’d also be freaky to feel the tower sway as it absorbs the force of the coaster train climbing the structure all while you’re up hundreds of feet in the air on Zumanjaro.

The only rollback I experience is not on Kingda Ka, but on the Flashback Boomerang coaster at Great Escape in upstate NY. KINGDA KA will always be my coaster. My S & S favorite is Sasquatch at Great Escape. My favorite wooden coaster is The Comet. I definitely would invite my one and only superhero and superstar to ride on Kingda Ka.

      That would be cool if they can add a drop tower to TTD. Anymore Power Tower is kind of meh to me. Sure, it’s one of the tallest of its kind, but it’s still about the same sensation as the smaller versions of the ride out there. I pretty much prefer drop rides that run strictly on gravity anyway.

    • @oneandonlysound3453
      @oneandonlysound3453 2 года назад

      They also have different rules for scramblers, and don't take ferris wheel safety case by case. Like an outdoor scrambler as this very park can have single riders, but Casino Pier's you have to have 2 riders. Like I just don't wanna be squashed or maybe my enthusiast self is too much for people that day lol. The ferris wheel thing-you've got a company that builds them with glass walls around you practically, it's impossible to get out but they have to enforce the law. Only one place I know doesn't do the latter, but they are supposed to they just don't care thankfully. I tend to jump on ferris wheels at the very end of a day's operations as a final ride and a break, others may have left by then too, so ya know. Screw this stupid laws. Some dumbass falls out that's there problem. if it's "so open" put a lapbar or seatbelts, if it's not open at all the law should not apply.

      I wish we could trade Mr Freeze Reverse Blast for this anyday. Premiere may have only been starting out but SFGADV had to get the dueling, caused so many issues. If they'd just gotten a third Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast clone it'd still be there and be way more functional than kingda ka and also have more than one element.

  • @steveo7771286

    So, here’s my ultimate comparison. Having finally had the chance to get several rides on this monster this year (mostly because Dragster was down and I was sad so I made it happen lol) I have my opinion. Most rank it several spots lower, I don’t. I think it’s just…slightly under Dragster. I like the fact that it’s a bit faster, you feel in the front row. Yeah, it’s a bit shaky but that doesn’t really bother me. The restraints are only an issue going over the top hat because they dig into my shoulders, but other than that I don’t really mind them. I do get some floater on the airtime hill, it’s nothing to write home about, but it’s better than nothing like you get on Dragster. I do prefer Dragsters launch for sure, it just feels nicer and the T-bars are on obvious win. That goes without saying. As far as the theme, I like both. Dragster because of the engine sounds and all that and the fact that it’s smack in the middle of the park so it makes for a great spectacle even for non riders. That said, also like how Ka is kind of hidden and you don’t really know what up against until you’re on the launch track. It adds an element of surprise. And call me a nerd, but I quite dig the queue music. One can only listen to republica so many times before it gets old. Lol. All in all, I think they pretty much balance each other out.

    I used to enjoy Kingda Ka years ago, but I now make regular visits where I don't even bother with it. I vibrates way too much on the launch and usually always leaves me with the onset of a mild headache. No other coaster does this to me. I know the front is better for the vibration, but on most of my recent visits, it was assigned seating.

    Always thought the shakiness was simply a result of poor construction, building something bigger than TTD when they really shouldn't have been doing so knowing all the problem it has had/still has to this day. Not that they have the llaunch area off the ground the way they do and thus it creates more shakiness. Really wish SFGADV would forever avoid the prototypes or "the second" of something not really proven to be very efficient. I mean it only "works" better now cause they only run two out of four trains it was meant too. So longer lines for a shorter ride. The restraints do kinda suck. Even as a tall person, to me you feel it when your at the very top, and once your over the "there is no airtime here" hill. It's a shame the red force tech wasn't around. But that's what you get when you rush something like this. Honestly with all of it's issues despite the intense thrill I honestly find it to be one of the weakest major coasters in the park. Like 5/10 because the intensity and the height, but so much takes away from it. People love those zamperla discoverys too but same thing to me, usually too short, doesn't spin much, it's the speed and the height and neither make it so loving like the GP eat up those.

    Unpopular opinion: Kingda Ka > Top Thrill Dragster. I thought that Kingda Ka's launch felt more powerful than Dragster's, riding both within a few days of each other. Kingda Ka's launch felt far more powerful than Storm Runner's, riding both on the same day. Ka's restraints & rattle don't bother me at all either. Dragster has the better view at the top. On my days at Great Adventure this summer, they weren't trying to duel Ka & Zumanjaro, even when it was close, so it never happened.

  • @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan
    @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan 2 года назад +1

    It is true that the launch is not 128 mph. Since Intamin did not strengthen the launch system enough, the park only launches it fast enough to where it'll go over the tower. And the same is for Top Thrill Dragster. It's a part of speed reduction as the train gets more full. If the train is full, then the launch doesn't need to launch as quickly, since the extra weight gives the train more momentum to go over the tower, compared to if it is empty. Same concept as when water dummies are placed on the train to give more weight for the train to travel faster. You can thank ElToroRyan for that info :D And yes, since it does launch slower, the launch lasts longer.

    Completely missed the POV I wanted to see, due to all that WIND stinging my eyes! 🌬😣 Barely had enough time to blink and open them fully at crest, before being able to enjoy that groovy descent. 😅
    So I'm still torn between those two juxtaposed positions for one ride.🤔 And now, per your review, I know not to sit in back row either (would've been 2nd choice), if I do ride again in future.🤓

    Rode it twice in a row baked af with my friend honestly my 2nd favorite and nitro number 1 but kingda king is amazing love the view at the top don’t forget to throw those arms up and the top speed is 120 in 3.5 seconds a old operator from this video on RUclips said it’s actually 120 but still an awesome thrill

    Great adventure is my home park so I have a soft spot for this ride. But I do agree with everything that Taylor says but what he says about the airtime hill is different to me. I seemed to get absolutely lifted out of my seat in that thing. I think it’s because I am a literal 13 year old twig but idk. Also I wound lapping this with my friend seven times in a row so that’s my lapping record for a roller coaster.

    Front row of Kingda Ka and Top Thrill Dragster are the only two rides where my son lost his sunglasses. At top speed the wind just lifted the glasses up and over the top of his head. On TTD, the 'launch' photo has him wearing glasses, but they're gone in the 'finish line' photo. He now wears a "Croaker style" lanyard that we cinch down before any high speed coaster. Makes for a much more enjoyable ride than 100+ mph wind on your eyeballs.
    Speaking of lanyards, how about some Coaster Studios lanyards that riders can tighten up to keep from losing their glasses.

    But does Zumanjaro sway like Lex Luthor??? Cause if you wanna feel like you might actually die then idk what compares to being on Lex Luthor s drop of doom while Superman goes up and makes the whole tower sway back n forth like it's gonna snap in half

    Nice little video, thank you. I agreed with you a lot in regards to preferences. I would've left that little twist when you're coming down out of the plans. A straight drop would've been better. My choice is Top Thrill Dragster.

    I rode this twice today, first in the dead back. Second up front. Back was a lot rougher and surprisingly felt the wind more. Then, with the airtime hill, felt it more first row than back… but I think that’s because of the initial deceleration and being aimed downhill.

    Isn't Red Force at Ferrari Land sort of the same ride as Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka?

      It wasn’t broken, Lmfaooo.
      New Jersey wouldn’t allow them to run both KA and Zumanjaro at the same time until recently.

    This is my home park, being from NYC, so have ridden this monster dozens of times. It still scares me with the anticipation of the launch every time, but I've never had a rollback (I kinda wish I did!). I haven't been on Dragster since 2004 when I was 23, and that was such an insane experience as well, because it was the first of its kind. When I went on at night in the front row, with all those floodlights (the drag race bleachers), I had dead mosquitoes all over my shirt and face that I killed with our speed. Another experience I will always treasure as a coaster enthusiast!

    I got to sit on it for 9 rides in a row on Saturday, Nov 6th of this year. The back rows have given me an instant headache in the past, so, I avoided them. The first 2 rows are awesome, though. As far as the trims at the top are concerned, I actually like the hangtime they create. And the airtime hill is really good from the front of the train. It was better than I remembered. As far as the launch is concerned, the further back I sit, the more it feels like an old automatic transmission shifting gears. While in the front, the wind covers this up. TTD does not feel like that in any seat. When comparing this to Dragster, the first 2 rows on KK beat all rows on TTD, but any row on TTD beats any row on KK after row 2. The OTSR's aren't great, but they really don't bother me. Really a fun ride.

    It has crazy positives, a great launch, and insane height and speed, I think it’s overrated by the gp but underrated by enthusiasts. The launch isn’t the best but it’s extremely fast and pretty punchy, though I like storm runner’s more, the only other hydraulic launch I’ve experienced. There’s slight airtime on the hill, and the top hat could be a lot better, but I understand why it’s so drawn out to accommodate the forces. I don’t have a problem with the restraints and I know it’s a bit rough but the restraints not touching me helps. I’ve never sat in the back even though it’s at my home park so I can’t say
