In May 2019, I chose a 2017 base Carrera after considering every GT, Sports, Performance car available for under 125k. I considered every manufacturer and any year model with some bias toward choosing newer than older for perceived reliability. I concluded that you can't buy a more exciting (somewhat exotic), reliable, versatile performance car for a given price than the 911. At first I focussed on the 997.2 and of course that evolution will always be highly regarded. I just preferred modern comfort, reliability and technology. That brought me to 991.1 S models (2S and 4S). But the 991.2 outperforms those, while offering backup camera, parking sensors, improved entertainment system and some features of previous S models now on the Base. So far I'm very happy with this decision. I believe this change to turbo engines on almost all models will be looked back on as another brilliant move by Porsche.

I bought a 17 Base 7 spd manual about 8 months ago as well and I have been in love with it ever since! The modern amenities combined with the performance and looks is a killer combination. I added a soul street package with the sport cats and the x-pipe and it sounds glorious now with those pops on deceleration as well. Can’t go wrong with a 911
@@obi-wankenobi7160 so cool to know of your similar experience. I bought the Fabspeed Muffler-delete X-pipe but am waiting for cooler weather to install it. Did you notice any performance improvement with your exhaust upgrade?
FoesFlyDennis yes somewhat but mostly just sounds much better/louder inside and outside of the cabin. It did not come with PSE, I am now considering a tune from APR to unlock all of the performance that was sand bagged by the factory to make room for the S and GTS models
@@obi-wankenobi7160 mine did not have PSE either. I have also considered an ECU tune for same reasons. I appreciate your replies brother.

I would probably really enjoy talking with you. McLaren 12c was on my short list when I was shopping all models. Even a 12c would have been a hard stretch for my modest income. But for appearance, McLaren for me, is VERY hard to beat.

Why does that base C2 have quad exhaust? Is it aftermarket? Should have the oval tailpipes without PSE. Quad pipes are on S models without PSE. Nice video. Good comparison.
I just recently traded a 991.2 base for a 992 C2S and really miss my base car. The new S is just too powerful. A lot of people who haven't really driven these cars don't get that. With the S cars, working the engine just a little bit puts you well over the speed limit. Base C2 is the best daily 911. If I were to go back and do it again I'd have stuck with the base.

It is an option; on my base C2 991.2, I didn’t want the Sport Exhaust, but wanted black tailpipes as I felt it fitted better to the black body trim below the bumper. I went for Sapphire Blue. By the way, I use my base 991.2 (also with PDK) as a daily driver, and am racking up the miles. I have never once thought that it needed more power; but it is a fabulous car to drive, and never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Great video. But bad comparison with the iPhone, everyone can buy an iPhone, but not everyone can afford a 911. iPhone is a fake luxury's whereas the 911 is a real luxury.
