once you hear the new 991.2 in person with the turbos, the sound is incredible for the turbo motor and you won't think as much about the previous 991.1s. And i tend to be more of a NA kinda guy (except for the 90s jap sports cars)

I had the same exact feelings about the 997 GTS I did a video on! I did not want to leave the car. I wanted to live in there, I wanted to keep on driving it until I ran out of road, and then build more road so I could continue driving it.

Greetings from Stuttgart :D At work I drive around all kinds of Porsche Parts on a Pellet Truck (had to google that word lol) Differentials, bits and pieces from the Inside, Transmissions and even Windshields. I'd say every morning I got parts on the pellet truck and forklift worth around 1.25M$. So in a way I am actually driving Porsche haha

In my opinion definitely not. It drives better and is more dynamic and the new PCM is better, but the naturally aspirated engine just sounded so much better and is in my opinion a lot more emotional to drive.
Yeah. While I had this press car I drove a modified 991.1. The turbo car would walk the NA car so fast it's a joke. Once you try the turbo motors the NA motor feels like it's dragging ass
Wow! Maybe it's more of an enthusiasts thing. I mean we just drove the 991.1 4GTS head to head against the new 4S and none of us chose the new 991.2 because of its lack of sound and emotion. It doesn't give you that smile the 991.1 did. But it was quite impressive how fast the 991.2 reached 200 km/h on the Autobahn.
+Kaipeternicolas if I didn't know the extra power was possible, I would say no I don't need it. But because I know the car can be that fast, there's no going back. The new Boxster/Cayman is the same way. The Turbo motor is so much faster it's ridiculous, and it's faster in ways you feel on the street more so than the track.

I live in CA and Prius drivers are notorious for being the most oblivious people on the road. (notorious among people who don't drive a Prius, don't shop at whole foods and didn't vote for Bernie).

I have a 991 Turbo and a Merc as company car, so Merc gave me a AMG GT for testdrive in the hope to replace my 911. The AMG GT is a realy nice car, but the 911 has a driving style wich no other car could match. The 911 is like a tailor-made suit, everything fits perfectly and therefore you trust the car and can drive them realy sporty without nasty surprises. You always feel at were are physical limits and can drive the car at that limits. The 911 drives extrem direct wich only can be compared as touching something with and without gloves.

I think AWD used to sort out lots of "rear engine situations", and it's true that today, the system will keep anyone out of trouble. It really is very good. But, if you live in a snowy area, AWD is always superior (if both cars have the same snow tires). I would certainly rather have 4 wheels pulling me from snow than 2.

So fast forward, you have now driven the 992.1 and even the 992.2. Each of those is larger, faster, more technologically advanced and more $$$$. Considering those (I have allocation) vs the 991.2 Targa, I went with the 991.2, and could not be happier. The others are amazing cars, but i find the 991.2 just a more visceral experience. It puts a smile on my face.😊😊
I've seen 911 Turbo on snowy I-684 NY bound commuting. That was really cool to see yeah you can daily it literally all year around in Northeast with 4WD sports car.
It's really easy to lift the front axle on the new cars with all the torque, so it'll start to understeer more vs .1. I personally believe the rear steer is what they did to counter that chassis/suspension set up trait. Without that option, it feels like it needs camber IMO. On the 4S the split on the 4wd is different from .1, so it's much harder to keep sideways :) (requires lots of steering input on a skidpad, but it'll do it fine with the right technique).

Super-sexy car, but yeah on the base being the best value. An affluent friend of mine settled on the base over the S and has absolutely no regrets, especially in regards to the steering (which he loves).

I've driven 991.2 4S PDK Cabrio for a day and just from that experience I have to say it would be a perfect daily driver sports car.

The Carrera 4S is the ultimate all-season semi-exotic daily driver. I hear you Matt...all I would want to do is drive this too. No excuses needed.
Cool car, but I think the new Corvette Z06 gives you more bang for the buck and, in my opinion looks much better than the Porsche.

Mercedes would get destroyed by the 911 Turbo and the Turbo S is in the top 5 fastest accelerating cars on the road.

I love the spool up sound of the 991.2 engine's turbos.
3000 launches is incredible especially when you consider the new NSX needs a new clutch after 400.
Hopefully you get a chance to drive the 911-R in the near future.

PASM is now standard on the base here in the UK.. Be suprised if it wasn't in USA?
What I don't understand is how this car sounds so much like a 911 from the outside but the car that MOtor TRend used in their Ignition episode sounded like a 911 with an ebay turbo kit and an obnoxious blow off valve?
