+BlackWind I own a GT3 that is several years old and was considering buy a 911 Carrera next year. But that now looks to be of the table. I hate turbo's in performance cars. It is one of the reasons I have an RS5 but even the new RS5 may be going down the turbo routes. I have no problems with Porsche doing turbo's but to have all of there cars as turbo (barring GT3) is just insane. Even Ferrari is going down the turbo route.
buggeroff It is when you're supposed to review a sportscar and you cant drive it how it's supposed to be driven because of the weather. Also, SUN >>>>>> RAIN
Well I have owned a 997.2 turbo s and a 991 turbo and how special these cars are !! The performance in both speed and handling of these turbo's is just simply outstanding. That is only going to be diluted by all 911s now having a turbo...it just won't be the same for those of us that have driven the "real thing". That Porsche turbo mystic now becomes just standard equipment. You can now buy a base 911 and tune it ( ecu , headers, exhaust, intake plenum ) for about $11-12,000 and have a 500hp+ beast! My 991 turbo was tuned to 650hp and it was a under 3 second animal! The tuning wonders of turbo's😄
Great to hear Mr. Alex's 2 cents regarding the new 3.0tt Carrera S cars. The 911 range turbo motors are welcome in the high elevations of Colorado. At my driveway its 8,200ft ... My MY98 911 (993) C2S 3.6l is sucking wind .... output power is off by -20% or more. Say -3% for every 1,000ft above sea level. Turbo charging offsets this elevation negative somewhat. Go ahead Porsche AG .... turbo charge everything ......
The 991.2 is just the natural progression of the 911. You may not get that NA sound but the benefits of the turbo engine is definitely worth the sacrifice. It's faster, more fuel efficient, more connected and less steer by wire. I think Porsche is just embracing the change and the final product is pretty damn awesome!
No thats what happens when ur biased and blinded by love for a brand. Its a sports car no one cares about fuel effeciency, or faster, the sound is a huge part of the driving experience, the theatre, what seperates iconic supercars from normal cars.
That steering wheel is fabulous. And that manual transmission god yes. But please UK journalists, for the love of god, settle somewhere the roads are not soaking wet 90% of the time.
+Jackie Scholl That's not true. They called it the turbo because it literally had a turbo, unlike the rest of the lineups. Of course now, it has caused confusion.
Nice review (as always with Alex) and filming! As for the car.. I fell in love with it the moment it was released, exactly in that colour as in the video (though I'd prefer some other colour for the interior). And I don't care about the turbos. Porsche know how to make brilliant cars, so I am sure this one is no exception.
For a facelift, this generation has a lot of new stuff available. Mostly multimedia and safety things. That is great and all. But the emotion part definitely took a hit. Even my sales guy told me that they now have to start selling the cars differently. They can't just let the potential customer go out for a drive with PSE on and then come back and sign the contract. With this change, even though I love the new design, the 911 is not an attractive offering anymore. It's more a GT car now. The GT3 models are the only interesting 911s now. And with the turbos coming to the mid-engined models soon, there is pretty much no attractive Porsche left apart from the most extreme ones. Sad. I hope once the batteries get lighter they ditch the turbos again and use NA engines with additional E-motors, like in the 918. That would be my preferred solution if you have to meet those useless emission regulations.
+RaphProgListener E-Motors are perfect for everyday family usage. And they have exceptional performance. But they lack the sound of a ICE. That is their weakness as a sports car. Porsche NA cars have always sound amazing. They have a pure sports grunt about them that is purely natural.
Dear Carfection, I owe you an apology. I truly believed xcar had gone away and some lame corporate bs had taken it's place. I was wrong. Clearly wrong. Thanks, Alex. Thanks, Carfection.

How will the previous cars resale value react to this car? This was the prettiest 911 imo, second only to the 993. I feel like people will prefer the new model simply because it's faster. But I think the better experience would be in the previous car. Mind you I haven't driven either one.
I do like Porsche and i think the new look is an evolution and it's like fine tuning. The main question I have is that with them now adding turbos to the 'standard' 911 will there no longer be a need for the Turbo and Turbo S? I loved the Turbo as it gave that sense of power and rawness and made it stand out, all be it with a fancy spoiler but now do you really need one?
You can degenerate the critics all you want, but there's a good reason why the Singer exists. And don't you dare saying it's not better than all of the current Porsche models.
+Pan Damasque people will always appreciate and pay for the fine craftsmanship displayed in the Singer. Porsche is opening centers to restore older 911s. They have tons of love for their old cars. The new Singer Carrera 4 is bad ass.
Change is always hard but Porsche 911 is always going to be iconic. A lot smashed on the PDKS in the GT3's but after experiencing it they wouldn't go back. I feel Porsche will continue to be very desirable and continue to make incredible sports cars. I do prefer NA engines like my GT3 but would love to have a 991 Turbo S as well.
PLEASE do the new Mustang GT! I would really love to hear your impressions of it considering what you get for the price. (especially here in the US but still)
+Daniel Silva Manual gearboxes aren't for Speed or Acceleration, they are for fun. Most people who spend high amounts of money for a Car like the Turbo S or GT3 RS, aren't buying them to have fun with a Manual box, they are buying those models to be driving the fastest Porsches. If they were manual they would lose to a 458 Italia or AMG GT... With PDK they are faster than anything on the road that isn't a Hypercar. Think about it, really.
Sorry for my kinda unrelated question, but it seemed like it was the right time, so here it goes. If 458 and amg gt are super cars, what is a 911 carrera/carrera s? It has less power yet it can almost match them in terms of acceleration which is really odd to me. And if a 911 carrera s is a super car, then what is a 911 turbo s?
malicalik 13 I remember reading a quote from Porsche saying that they are Sports Car makers. Every Porsche drives like a Sports car, whether it's a 911 or a Cayenne or a Panamera. If you drive a Mercedes GLE 63 AMG, as good a car as it is, there is nothing sporty about it other than the power, when compared to a Porsche equivalent. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo on the other hand, has sports car handling combined with power and amazing balance. Some Porsches have Supercar Performance such as the Turbo S and GT2 RS amd GT3 RS, but they are still classified as sports cars as they did start life with the classic Sports Car 911 Body. Wings and Air Vents can't turn a Sports Car into a Supercar. A Supercar car has to be Super in more than 1 way. In my opinion it has to have Super Performance - Top Porsches have Super Looks - Only Carrera GT + 918 have Super Sound - Only Carrera GT + 918 have Super Interior - Only Carrera GT + 918 have Super Price Tag - Top Porsches Have

What part of a huge contradiction am I missing? I’m seriously considering buying a 911. Life’s literally too short not to, if you like the idea and have the means. We’re running towards the end of privately owned motor cars. What a way to finish, with a 911!!
The changes only affect people who spend time on track, which would be a very small minority of drivers. For your average buyer, it's still an amazing car.
You bring up a good point in this vid. Will Porsche now have to change the name of the 911 Turbo to something different now that they will all be turbos?
Actually the engine is in the right place. Its the best place for optimum cooling. The right place for traction and cornering. The right place for aerodynamics. The right place for uncompromised comfort. It's everyone else that's wrong.
Turbocharging to meet emissions regulations. I wonder about that. Since most of the major hi-per manufacturers still have at least one naturally aspirated car. Porsche still has the NA GT2 (I assume the GT3 RS, 2019 ver) will still be NA). So, if Porsche can still put out a 500 HP NA fat-6...what is the REAL reason why they chose to TT the Carrera's?? Why has Ferrari TT their 488 but not their 812 SUperfast? Why are Lamborghini's still NA? (e.g. Huracan's...Aventador's...etc.). Could Porsche not put a "de-turned" GT3 engine in the Carrera cars?? :)
I actually respect Porsche a lot for embracing new ideas and technology, and new social expectations and attempt to engineer the faults out of it - sure they aren't always completely successful, but they always make the industry progress.
Great video I really do think this new model looks better than the outgoing. It is subtle, but better. That said I tried to give this whole Carfection name change thing a go, but I just can't take it anymore... I am going rage quit.
The only think that we needed to know, and what was not said - is that the door for more affordable engine mods has been open and you can relatively easy blow 500hp out of it.
There is one big advantage to those turbos though. You should be able to tune that turbo engine and get another 75-125 bhp. Won't work in a naturally aspirated car. So you'd get 911 turbo level performance on the cheap. I expect the next 911 to be a hybrid with turbos and electric engine for torque fill.
The 991.5 is a prelude for Porsche's line of Hybrids which will be on all future 911's once this initial testing is complete. Imagine the turbos being replaced by hybrid generators. The last 911 100% petrol versions are now complete. The new era of 911's is here.
The 911 represents the pure "drivers' car". Every little change they make makes it a little bit less pure. Wow, I just felt a little bit like Hitler. Anyway, if Europe is so concerned about meeting emissions quotas and blah blah, they should try to make tankers, factories, buildings cleaner, not cars. Because, and this is one of my favorite stats ever, the largest 15-16 tankers in the world create the same amount of pollution as **all the cars in the world**. Wrap your head around that. I did, and I'm angry that the new 911 is turbo charged. Edit: I just found this channel I love it so far. Thank you.
Nope. Do some basic research, and educate yourself away from such lies. And use some common sense: one tanker pollutes as much as 60 million cars? Dumbass. And those polluting non-cars provide the petrol you put in your car, to your petrol station. Don't keep embarrassing yourself with such gormless clueless self-absorbed statements.
Wow. I like the new color change option. It goes from red to silver and back in about two seconds. My 2006 Carrera 4s just stays black. But seriously it is nice car, maybe when they get to be around three years old I'll trade up. Brand new is out of my budget.
"however, even the most minute of changes are criticized and can cause them to drop the company, or product, or even a web-based car show at a moment's notice ..."
Great Review XCAR... I mean Carfection! Enthusiasts will always lament the previous generation of a loved icon, however Porsche needs to stay alive. These will sell, and allow the GT cars to be produced (though it may not be long before even they are converted). If you dont like the innovation, buy a 991.1 at a soon to be discounted rate.
XCAR/Carfection as lovely as your videos are in terms of filming + editing quality and narration, I've never heard you criticise anything. If there is any problem/feature /quality that many other reviewers outright don't like, you usually mention as "interesting", "controversial" and then proceed to sugarcoat it. I know what car companies do to journalists if they aren't enthusiastic enough about their products, (To anyone interested, look for the story Chris Harris published about Ferrari on Jalopnik in 2011) but the fact that you just love everything you test, and the " even if it's bad it's still good" approach makes me wonder whether you're a reliable source of information. And no, I don't really care about this or any other Porsche and don't mean specifically this video, just the general picture I got having seen almost everything you guys made.
Most of the people who complain are the ones who haven't even sat in one
Nonsense. The NA sounds much better and the feeling when driven is incomparable.
Correct or even owned one lol
Does that mean they can’t have an opinion??
I somehow suddenly imagined a mob of angry 911 enthusiast with pitchforks and torches screaming "Heresy!! Witchcraft!!"
+cominacatcha That moment when you remember a line from a car review that is 2 years old but you don't remember what you studied yesterday.

+Dédé LABINOUZE yea hang on a second let me just ask David Cameron if he can stop the rain so carfection can shoot a video you melt
For a turbo car, you might want the PDk to keeping rpm high.
So it's not a 911 turbo but it has two turbos so it is but it isn't...
Porsche logic.
They can't just change every single name.
Should have the new 911 turbo as a 911 turbo turbo
+Jackie Scholl That's not true. They called it the turbo because it literally had a turbo, unlike the rest of the lineups. Of course now, it has caused confusion.

Brilliant review, answered all the questions I had about the new turbo engines.
great video and love the review... you rock bro.
Is that Phil Collins ?
+Carfection but, nearly? we need more songs.
It will be interesting to see what the Cayman is like with the new turbo. Thanks for a nice balanced view on the new 911, it looks lovely.
That opening line was class :-) well done, great video!
+Carfection Haha, good laugh though for 911 owners :-p Not what makes the video great, but a nice touch nonetheless.
Nice job on a comprehensive review. It's that "angry feeling" I would miss.
Fabulous. Love the car, great segment -- thank you!
Nice review (as always with Alex) and filming!

It is politics that is killing cars.
It is fake environmentalism that is driving all of this.
Yeah 911 must go hybrid, that is the more logical next step

Good on ya for the honest review! I'm excited for 2-reasons- Easy to get more HP out of a turbo car. My 996 might start increasing in value! =)
Well done gents, job well done!
props to the camera men
How will the previous cars resale value react to this car? This was the prettiest 911 imo, second only to the 993. I feel like people will prefer the new model simply because it's faster. But I think the better experience would be in the previous car. Mind you I haven't driven either one.

Pretty cool. you can get a 911 with a turbo and a manual gearbox again.
Yeah but it's not the most powerful model, it's not the "turbo" model so I don't see what's so great about it
Turbo kits can be upgraded. Keep an eye peeled, you're going to see specialty shop and aftermarket companies making some screamers out of these.

Manual gearboxes aren't for Speed or Acceleration, they are for fun.
Most people who spend high amounts of money for a Car like the Turbo S or GT3 RS, aren't buying them to have fun with a Manual box, they are buying those models to be driving the fastest Porsches.

This guy's reporting style almost resembles Richard Hammond's to a tee
Does anyone know were these roads are?
It is a 911 Turbo Lite.
Not exactly Carrera S.
Wow. I like the new color change option. It goes from red to silver and back in about two seconds. My 2006 Carrera 4s just stays black. But seriously it is nice car, maybe when they get to be around three years old I'll trade up. Brand new is out of my budget.
What is going on with the driver´s seat leather (shoulder area). Pre-series vehicle- I presume...
damn these new 911s. Ill go get myself a 993 Carrera S and be happy with the driving experience as well as its appreciation factor.
"however, even the most minute of changes are criticized and can cause them to drop the company, or product, or even a web-based car show at a moment's notice ..."
Lol it seems that way. Cheers to the #FanBoys
+Carfection what the color on the car?
Great Review XCAR... I mean Carfection! Enthusiasts will always lament the previous generation of a loved icon, however Porsche needs to stay alive. These will sell, and allow the GT cars to be produced (though it may not be long before even they are converted). If you dont like the innovation, buy a 991.1 at a soon to be discounted rate.
Nice pack shot at 1m 05s... ;)
Music What is it?!
what was the name before carfection?
Aftermarket exhaust with anti-lag, it will be MAD
Was this XCAR? Please let us know why the name changed. Thanks
And no, I don't really care about this or any other Porsche and don't mean specifically this video, just the general picture I got having seen almost everything you guys made.
what color is the car?
what color is that
Is this Rhodium Silver or GT Silver?
it sounds exactly like an older nsx and that good in a way
where is the location?
