Nice. I made the jump this past February from the 991.1 C4S after 140,000 miles to 991.2 C4S and I was totally blown away. The power delivery is just amazing.

I have the same car with a chalk + blue interior it always gets compliments for “the color.” I agree, there’s no turbo lag. Put your foot in it and you’ll be at 120 in no time.

Did quite a bit bit of research on ECU tunes….Cobb, APR, etc Went also with softronic and it is absolutely beast. Also done the calipers in red inspired by your 991.1 video. I am so excited as I just got a 991.2 carrera and am wanting to do some of these mods you are speaking about. So far, I have upgraded to the sport front spoiler (Love the look). The softronic ECU flash is on my list. So much horsepower and torque for the buck. Can't wait to see you do this and a lot more. I have seen some on Rennlist adding adding Porsche side skirts from the 991.1 RS or GTS. Look at that option as well, please!

I think it's nice to go back to the factory silhouette after doing a mod like a GT3 or GT2 wing. I loved having the GT3 wing on my own 997 but I think if I had kept it longer I would have ultimately gone back to factory too.

What a coincidence, I went to test drive a 991.2 Carerra base PDK too, also Graphite Blue Metallic. Wanted to upgrade from my 987.1 S manual. It’s a big jump in performance and price. Salesman took me through backroads @ 140kms. He’s very experienced race driver. I was sold on 991.2 base and he said there’s not much difference in S, GTS. So save your money and learn how to race your car. Pedal to the metal, fast as you can. If I do end up getting it, the yellow calibres look great on Graphite Blue Metallic.

James, FYI I have heard that the guys who have done the H&R springs end up with a harsh ride….and have utilized other options. FYI we meet at one of the recent Sportscar Together Festival events at Indy if I am not mistaken. Love the new car. These little Turbocars are terrific and the Tune’s make them come alive. Cannot wait to see what happens next.
Congrats! I have a 991.2 C4S that's graphite blue like yours but with full Cognac leather interior package. Looking forward to the performance mods! Unfortunately...I've still got a year and half left on my warranty and service (I bought the extended warranty when it expired and prepaid for the services) but I'm keen on the ECU tune, filters, cat and headers...may be intercoolers too. That's about what I'm thinking about doing as soon as the warranty expires. *Here in my country any changes to the factory setting voids the warranty to that part, even adding coding for Android Auto voids the warranty on the PCM system. As for your turbo lag comment, lets remembered you had one of there weakest 991.1 3.4 cars I have ever seen a dyno of, so your reference is probably a bit skewed. I drove a .2 S and a GTS before going back to buy a 991.1 GTS, the turbo lag is very much there and it taunts you every time you ask for power. Of course the low end TQ of the .2 cars is awesome, enjoy in good health
I have the Softronic tune on my 17 Base. Fantastic tune with more than enough power and no drivabiltiy problems. More power than the 991.2 GTS and you keep the response of the smaller turbos.
Congrats James!!! Awesome Car and Color. I think you will love the Tune, my new Daily is an S5 2015 running on Corn LOL it's a huge difference from stock. I am sure once you get your Tune you will feel the same. Lastly if prices drop a bit I'll going the group with a 991.2 for now the 993 still my only P CAr.
The power is already in the engine. Porsche just tune the base specifically to deliver less power than the S and the GTS. The base, S and GTS all have the same 3.0TT engines. The GTS just having bigger turbo chargers. The tune won’t bother the engine at all. It can easily handle the power. It’s the bolt-on parts like hoses that might need replacing faster than they might have before the tune.
Beautiful car! Have a base 991.2 as well with a manual trans. Full bolt ons, turbo swap and pro tune using cobb. If you have a tuner near you I highly suggest having them pro tune the car on a dyno. Safer and proper ignition timing go a long way for longevity and reliability when it comes to tuning. Best of luck and enjoy!
I have a 991.2 Carrera T, which shares the same engine as the base Carrera, and felt it was lacking in the power department. An APR stage 1 tune fixed that issue, but now I feel the need for more lol. Considering the stage 3 GTS turbo upgrade.
YEAH!! Check out Flat 6 Motorsports in the Orlando FL area. They have several different tuning options for the 991.2 which goes to as much as a Stage 4 producing more than 700+ bhp. Insane but awesome!!
Love that color, congrats on your new ride enjoy it! I have 2015 991.1s. I do find it took me a bit to get used to be in the right rpm range to really get it going. The 991.2 I saw a video with someone driving out of gear and getting excellent acceleration throughout with the turbos

Congrats on the .2. I just did the same about a month ago and as much as I loved my .1 this one is so much more fun to drive. Excited to see some of your mods already, which I have wanted to do also. Before you jump into the performance, maybe for the channel try a Sprint Booster and see what you think. So many nay sayers on the SB but for turbo cars, it really adds another element of fun. Would be great to see you try it and with your following share the outcome. I have used for years on other turbo cars and now its a must have for me.
Great looking car imo the best looking generation ever, I am puzzled between 991.1 vs 991.2 lookswise i prefer newer but those 3.8l engines in carrera s previous gen are to die for
My first Porsche was a 2014 981 Boxster. I then moved up to a 991.2 but wasn't fond of the turbo's feel and sound, so I switched back to the 991.1, which has a similar feel to the 981 but just better. I do miss the firmer chassis of the 991.2, though. After driving the 992 a few times and appreciating its even better chassis, I still prefer the sound and throttle response of the 991.1.
Nice Pick Up... CONGRATS!!! I've been considering jumping into a .2 4GTS myself, currently in a .1 4S. My concern is the known "water pump" issue in the .2's as well as some turbo failure issues I've been "hearing" about. Did you have any concerns with jumping into a .2? Also, giving up the 3.8L NA Engine Sound will be a Hard Loss. If you do end up lowering consider changing the rears to 21's, you'll retain some of the symmetry. Anyway, Enjoy your New Mistress!!!
Cheers!! I’m not worried about these .2 engines. They’re largely bullet proof and the reliability statistics are very encouraging if you dig around. I do miss the NA exhaust sound to be fair. The PSE on this .2 sounds great but it’s not the same thrill.
I am! I have a Softronic tune but they are incredibly difficult to work with and it is taking a frustrating amount of time to get the correct tune file back from them.
Great Video with your Mods, congrats. I have a question, though. I'm on the opposite direction. My SCC came in with the yellow face, and I do not like it. I want to turn it into a black face! How was your experience swapping the black into a yellow on your unit? Any tips appreciated. Thanks.
If you would like to have the factory black face I removed from my cluster, you're very welcome to it! The job is pretty straight forward. I have a DIY video of the job that shows you how to do it step by step. I would also be happy discussing it with you live if that helps too.

You'll need upgraded bypass valves to run stage 1, as stock valves over the years would get soft. Good luck and congrats!

If it helps, the seats in the newer Cayennes aren’t nearly as comfortable as the ones in my model. Spend your extra money on the fun car.

it’s graphite blue metallic which was one of the special options available for the 991.2. It became a PTS color with the 992.

Congrats on the .2. I just did the same about a month ago and as much as I loved my .1 this one is so much more fun to drive. Excited to see some of your mods already, which I have wanted to do also. Before you jump into the performance, maybe for the channel try a Sprint Booster and see what you think. So many nay sayers on the SB but for turbo cars, it really adds another element of fun. Would be great to see you try it and with your following share the outcome. I have used for years on other turbo cars and now its a must have for me.

Base engine has the fastest response time. Larger turbo blades on each step up in hp is done with larger turbo blades and the lag increases.

My first Porsche was a 2014 981 Boxster. I then moved up to a 991.2 but wasn't fond of the turbo's feel and sound, so I switched back to the 991.1, which has a similar feel to the 981 but just better. I do miss the firmer chassis of the 991.2, though. After driving the 992 a few times and appreciating its even better chassis, I still prefer the sound and throttle response of the 991.1.
So 991.1 over 991.2 I am puzzled between base 991.2 and 991.1 carrera s?
There’s so much to be said about the sound of the 991.1’s naturally aspirated engine. It’s incredible.

I've been considering jumping into a .2 4GTS myself, currently in a .1 4S. My concern is the known "water pump" issue in the .2's as well as some turbo failure issues I've been "hearing" about. Did you have any concerns with jumping into a .2? Also, giving up the 3.8L NA Engine Sound will be a Hard Loss. If you do end up lowering consider changing the rears to 21's, you'll retain some of the symmetry. Anyway, Enjoy your New Mistress!!!
Cheers!! I’m not worried about these .2 engines. They’re largely bullet proof and the reliability statistics are very encouraging if you dig around. I do miss the NA exhaust sound to be fair. The PSE on this .2 sounds great but it’s not the same thrill.
Beautiful car, are you going to go for an ECU stage one remap to give you 500 BHP? It really makes a difference.
I am! I have a Softronic tune but they are incredibly difficult to work with and it is taking a frustrating amount of time to get the correct tune file back from them.

Great Video with your Mods, congrats. I have a question, though. I'm on the opposite direction. My SCC came in with the yellow face, and I do not like it. I want to turn it into a black face! How was your experience swapping the black into a yellow on your unit? Any tips appreciated. Thanks.
If you would like to have the factory black face I removed from my cluster, you're very welcome to it! The job is pretty straight forward. I have a DIY video of the job that shows you how to do it step by step. I would also be happy discussing it with you live if that helps too.

I just love how it looks on the dash. Even when I had the original part from the factory in other 911s I’ve owned I don’t think I ever used it. I just love how it looks. Haha.
