I really like your configuration Nick, it’s just a beautiful car.
I feel exactly the same about my 991.2 Carrera and, like you, I drive it every single day.........1000 miles per month! I’ve been driving Porsches for close to 40 years and they have always been my everyday driver........just how they were meant to be. I don’t collect cars, I get my enjoyment by being behind the wheel. I think Dr. Porsche would agree, as well. Great video, Nick.
You make me feel better about driving my '14 Cayman every day, put on 10k miles in 13 months as well so far. These cars seem to be so resilient for what tier of a car they are!
18echosf interesting, which cars have you had from the beginning and to now?
18echosf: I agree with you, drive those Porsches! Still don’t understand how you can buy 8 year old second hand 911’s with only 4000 miles or km’s on them... And all those 911R’s and 918 Spyders which are bought by collectors, instead of us! Frankly, when I could afford a 918 Spyder in this day and age (eco-friendly and all that), I would drive it everyday too. Instead of looking at it, once a week. Porsche really should handle different criteria for handing out those supercars. They wind up with the wrong people. Cheers, Irwin
Last 12 months I put on 22,000 on my 09 Cayman S because it's just a scootch more fun to drive than my '13 Prius and I don't have to wear a disguise when I drive it as I do with the Toya Ta!
I understand the opinion about using the car as an everyday driver, and not a garage queen, but there's somewhere in between which is also a sweet spot - I have 5 road legal cars, three of which I use regularly, all very different and moving from one to the other allows you to enjoy even more the joy of each one's flavour. 911 996.2 C2m, Megane 265 RS (ecu upgrade), and Touareg V6 diesel (tow and service car for my race car and Labradors x2 transporter). This allows me to keep annual mileage well below what would be the case driving a single vehicle. The Touareg doesn't have to be a hotshoe, as you may guess, and it is a beautifully finished comfortable economical relaxed cruiser that hauls my racing rig as if it's not there. Can't understand why diesels are so hated in the US (even after the infamous dieselgate).
I have to say your choice of wheels is spot on. Wasn't a fan at first, but certainly grew on me. They look excellent.
This is so weird, just the other day I was searching for a 1 year video review of your car and now here it is! Glad to hear the car is holding up well and I think it's great that you drive it all year round and not afraid to play it in the snow, sleet and rain. Please continue to review this beautiful car.
Always a great watch, thanks for the videos Nick
Passionate about the 911. Love it.
Hi Nick, a fellow Kiwi “down under” in Auckland. I have just discovered your channel and love it! It’s great to see a Kiwi producing good car content; keep it up mate.
Love the look of your chosen alloys when they start to spin quickly!
This is hot. I adore update vids. I screamed when I saw the notification.
Nick. I enjoy your channel. I've watched many of your videos and I've learned lots from them.I enjoy owning a '14 C4S and will keep watching. Thanks for the effort and keep up the great work.
Always great to watch a video made by a down to earth guy who loves so much his car and shares his opinions in an easy way to understand.
Nick thanks for this insightful and clear review. You’re being ever more concise as a presenter, which means more value for the viewer!
Love your C4S and channel - great update
Another great clip, thanks Nick. It always boggles my mind when people rave about PDK being faster as being the reason to eschew the joy that comes from manual shifting and doing your own rev matching and heel toe braking. The 911 is all about the driving experience. PDK is for racing (because, yes, it's faster), for daily driving in heavy city traffic, and for those who can't stick shift. And grannies. For the driver, it's manual. Every single time! And hi from NZ - it's warm and sunny here, but with another ex-tropical cyclone bearing down on us!
Excellent review
So refreshing seeing such a classy spec for a modern 911. Good job Nick!
It's been only an year since you bought the 991.2? It feels like three years to me! I really enjoy watching your videos and love the options you chose for the 911. Please keep up the good work.
Another great video Nick.Keep them coming.x
Nick, I enjoy your videos very much. My Night Blue 2018 4S with the manual is almost identical to yours except that I have the full leather in chalk and do not have rear wheel steer. Agree with everything you say about these lovely cars.Your comments on the various 911 variants (in your other video) was spot on. My car is 6 months old and like yours, trouble free. Keep up with the very informative and funny videos.
Nick- you sound a lot better. Love the car the way it's configured.
I promise not to make fun of your accent Nick. I'll wait "thirdeen" months before I do it again.
Awesome choice, Nick. Your car looks great!
I gave my wife a wonderbra and I am also happy with it Nick, nice you made a video again, missed you. Still the most symphatic guy on youtube! Greetz
Great channel Nick 👍👍
Nice car especially such a down to earth chap who loves his dogs. Thanks for sharing mate.
time flies, can't believe that's been a year already. Great car and spec
My heart stopped, with the runaway 911 bit. LOL
This was a great update. Fully agree on enjoying it as a daily driver. Great vid. Totally subscribing.
Gives advice on how to avoid wearing the bolsters, travels with the dogs in it LOL. Thanks for the update Nick glad this one has been a positive experience :)
Also love the rear wiper. Picked up mine CPO and found exactly every option I wanted but that.
There's never enough power! Kidding - but love the channel. I have a 991.2 Carreras Base I just got tuned and absolutely love it! Kepe up the good work, sir!
Great looking interior. Good to see you use it as a daily.
Love the roar away at the end
Long live the manual. I had the PDK in my 991, and made sure my next 911 was a manual 100%. I do most of my driving on fun B roads, so there was only one option for me.
Driver 81 zf 8speed is best
Manual is the only way to go. Hopefully the 992 generation offers manual in all the same models.
Quirky and great information. Thanks for the effort.
Awesome, Thank you for sharing. You forgot to mention that insane hood dent you got. Was glad to see the clear bra saved you some trouble there as well. Love the options you chose as well. looking forward to you losing more races in the year to come.
Good report !!
Hello Nick... Like your Porsche videos... so much so I’ve ordered a Porsche like yours, well similar, mines got a soft top which makes it loads better! Keep up the Porsche vids.
Hey Nick great video I would kind of like to see you do a video comparing some pros and cons of your 911 compared to your M4 thanks man keep up the good work
Hi Nick great easy watching video..
Hasn’t time passed quickly.
Mine is now 26 months old manual Carrera love it..
Only concern I’ve had is smoke on start up,dealer has replaced the oil separator recently ps only 9125 miles..
It happened again yesterday 😩..
Quite a bit as well..
Going to leave for a week may be two as we to are have snow here in the 🇬🇧..
Porsche by the way have been great..
Keep them videos coming Nick
Great video, great build on that car. , A note on the 4 ways. I had them in my 2016 911 GTS and they were the reason I traded in. I should have sampled before ordering. I could not get my knees supported enough, back pain did me in. Im 6'1 and wish I would have ordered the 14s or 18s.
Aggressive slide at the end, you are a real child, keep it up and glad you are enjoying it.
I will never get over how scared I was for your car when it started rolling down your driveway on its own. Just crazy. Stuff of nightmares
I really enjoy the fact that you let your dogs in your car, and actually use it like it were a camry...good stuff.
That was an enjoyable video to watch Nick. That was a fast 13 months. I think if I had to pick my favorite feature of your car is the light blue interior color. It's unique and very striking. I'm surprised more Porsche owners don't have this spec. black on black is so popular but black on black has a tendency to be boring on boring. lol.......stay warm out there in CT. (Mike in Ohio)
that's so cool, love the ending. nice car.
Great video
I copied your color combo in a base carrera. Also with a stick. Great so far. My after market mods so far are a short shifter from Porsche (great change.) Also changed break pads to ceramic pads. Ordered from Breakworld. Breaking is great without break dust. Thanks for the inspiration.
Manual Tran RULES!!!! FUN, is always number 1, Good for you!!
Convertible (MX5 owner) is also king for me, but I'm in CA so year round blue sky's is also nice!
Great video for. resale value retention
Like for the manual transmission ! Excellent video!
Love your dogs, such baby dolls.
I've got a 10 year old BMW 650 that still runs great, but every time I see your Porsche I want one.
What a car !! Love it 😁
Just looking at a 996 carrea 4 .
YES! I am a rear wiper fellow myself. Touche.
That b roll footage is bomb!
beautiful car!
Got a GTS on order - will know soon I suppose what the turbo issue is about - thanks for pointing out Nick
@Nick Finally, after a couple of years watching your videos I am now a Porsche owner (a gorgeous 997 C4S). However despite your many reminders it was only after getting my new car home that I realised it was missing the most crucial option: the rear wiper. I live in the UK. ARSE!
The horror!! Get one painted on!
I’m waiting on more aircraft videos! ✈️
Oooh, I completely took out a neighbors mail box once doing a similar maneuver in my brand new, one week old, 911SC many years ago. I also took out the passenger-side rear fender... But of course there was no such thing as a C4S back then.
LOL
Great video as always. Is that you playing the violin, Nick? Man of many talents.
The rear wiper DOES NOT add 25 horse power! It adds 24.
Darn it! Porsche lied!
and it is only crank horsepower. At wheels it is only about 19.3
I got the heated seats option to add an extra 10 horse power. When activated, the heat transfers from the seat through to the chassis and then to wheels where it warms the tire rubber and provides better traction to the road surface and I have no idea what I’m talking about.....
You must be at altitude. At sea level it’s 25hp 😎
Nick himself started with saying it adds 10, then 15 and now 25. Don't know who is lying.
Love the dark blue. I can’t afford new Porsche so i get what I can when I can. So my Porsche are: a 2016 maroon Cayenne (the first one that led me to eventually owning 3 Porsche), a 2008 blue Boxster, and. a 2013 white 911. Always got comments about the color of the Cayenne, I don’t see many of this color. The white is nice and clean but, absolutely love the triple blues Boxster, blue exterior, blue top, and blue interior.
Let's hope they fix the GTS Turbo issues cause it will likely be the next 992 Carrera S engine .
Funny, I thought you had the car longer than a year (longer than 13 months). I love seeing it in the snow. Sooooo hot! Heidi
Your Canon G7X needs a haircut asap
It is a long haired Teen, I can not tell it anything
lol
Good video, Nick! BTW, I wound up buying the 2019 Carmine 718 GTS. Only problem, there’s a halt on releasing 718’s....I got the call yesterday from the dealer. Porsche said there are two updates to do...1) Radio software update, and 2) Front end crossmembers needs strengthening, probably more rivets. Apparently the front end is needing this in case of frontal impact. But, I traded my 2002 996 TT X50, and my 2016 Mercedes S-550, and they cut me a check for $3K in return. I wasn’t driving the big ole Merc anyway.
Hey man where did you buy those rear seat covers? I need some for my dog
You have my favorite spec 991.2. If and when you prepare to move on to another, I hope I can be in the running to purchase yours. :)
Wtf.... I’m driving the GTS today, I will give you an update ASAP. I like to drive it hard but over 6.000 rpm is not very common. We’ll see how it handles today at 6k rpm. I am very surprised to hear about the issue. Thanks nick!
Damn, time flies.
I sure miss this beauty... No not you Nick the 911..
And of course the passenger-seat dog option. Looking good. Drive like a Kiwi!
I have the 18-way power seats in my Porsche Cayenne; my only complaint is that they don't have a massage function. So I had to buy a massaging pad separately--it's essential for long drives.
Coming back watching this laughing at Nick saying "trouble free"!
“Touch wood”?! @ 01.02’: That’s a steering wheel you still have to order, Nick haha! Great video, again. Grrrreetings from The Netherlands, Irwin
Should have touched my head
Nick Murray that would've been tin Nick
Nick, car looks and drives amazing, love your config. It will certainly hold up while under warranty, thats no surprise. Once it is out of warranty? Faahhhgetaboutit. These new cars use so much plastic and one time use pieces it is sickening. I sell at a small Porsche dealer and get to see what my tech is working on, on a daily basis. Porsche in 2018 is not the Porsche of yesteryear and when I see an air cooled 911 next to a 996 and newer, it reminds me for better and for worse how far the company has changed. Dont get me wrong, I probably wouldnt have a job if they still built them the way they used to, but it still saddens me they dont have the vault-like build quality of once upon a time. Just opening the door on the 993 Turbo in the shop the other day (which Rennlist'ers claim has Toyota influenced interior quality compared to G series) gave me chills, and the smell of the rich, real leather...
Another great video as always! One question Nick, I am indecisive between buying a 981 Cayman and a 981 Cayman S.. Have you driven both? Do the 50hp make a big difference? Thanks again!
I just purchased a 2018 Targa 4 GTS so I will be looking for the turbo thing... great idea regarding the seat covers. I have two Frenchies who are eager to go for a ride and I've been a bit worried about them stepping on stuff and leaving scuff marks.
Randall Studios golf blue?
Yes... how did you know?
Randall Studios meerblau here :).
Yuk, snow. No chance of that in Oz at present. Way hot. Have you seen the movie Pork Pie. It's from NZ. Three people drive a turbo mini from the north island to Invercargill in the South. Chased by Police. Two stars of shorty st, make an appearance. Funny.
I've got a 2018 GTS - no issues thus far (only had it for 2 months/4500km). I'll keep an eye on it though..
Dan S is the turbo lag noticeable? I’m trying to decide between a 991.1 and 991.2 C4S or GTS
love the vivaldi
Love cloth seats! So much more comfortable than leather.
What camera is in your hand, Nick?
Nick: the reason the seats in your previous 911 were stiff was the ventilation, if you see the seat without the seat covers, the foam involved with the ventilation mechanism is much stiffer to support the air channels. I had a ventilated 14 way seat in a 718 Boxster S, which a professional upholstery shop converted to non ventilated with new foam: stiffness problem solved. My current 2017 911 C4 has 14 way non ventilated seats and they are very comfortable. The 18 way seats are great because they are more supportive and adjustable, but are stiff if ventilated. I choose to experience consistent seating comfort rather than persistent discomfort with the opportunity for occasional ventilation.
Interesting thank you for letting me know, I will test this out!
Not my cup of tea, but I am glad to see that you drive it all the time and not treat it like a fragile egg. Props for getting the manual, too! The only way to go.
So sad its gone 😩
I still have dreams.about nick running to save his car
Nick, been following you for years now, love you and your genuine channel. I'm trying to choose between a CS and a AMG GTS, what are your thoughts? BTW, my current car is a E92 M3 Alpine white hahaha.
Nick, If you had an M4 you would not be losing those drag races :)
Love the videos
Hi Nick, I always enjoy your videos. Regarding the cloth seats I too prefer their comfort over leather, but getting dog (and other) hairs off of them is so much work. The short needle like dog's hair really get stuck in the fabric. I went back to leather for this main reason. Maybe there are cloth seats out there than don't have this issue but I haven't found them.
The Color With Them Rims Was Perfect👌~ The Inside Was Nice2 Would've Went With A GrayTone & Darker Tan Tho 4The Seats
Don't worry about the ventilated seats nick, they don't work.
At least in my '17 C300 😐
I like your spec so much that I copied it and specified my C2 just like yours
I love the color. Are the RWD models good in the snow with snow tires?
I just bought a 991.2 Carrera S and it is also my daily driver, I have fun driving to and from work.
I am however tuning it to well over 500hp.
Had an18 wheeler run into me on my second week of ownership, minor damage but still sucked because the car was perfect and only had 17k miles. Any new 911 owners drop me a line !
Nick, are you still planning on leathering the back of your seats or did you get accommodated to the plastic shell? I followed your advice and ordered mine leathered.
HA HA, the video of Tui running after you while you are running after you car will never get old.
Nick you showed in a past video you can turn off the 4wd. Is there a reason you don’t drive it in 2wd all summer? Does it lights a warning on dash or something? Maybe it even would improve fuel economy.
That video was a trolling lie!
