Daily, I try to reassure myself that I don’t actually need a 911. This does not help. Thanks a lot, Al.
997.2 GT3 (2009 -2011)
Low production numbers, approximately 2,250 produced. Last of the GT stout 3.8 Mezger engines. Animal of a car that definitely will be highly sought after.
997.1 with an engine rebuild, will be a classic for years!
My porsche specialist mechanic said the 997 gen1 are more problematic then the 996's,he said 996 somehow got a worse reputation
Wish we had UK prices in Sweden. There is NO way you will get a 997 for 20-25k £, more like 50-100k :(
My favorite picks are 997.1 turbo, 991.1 Turbo s, 991.2 turbo s and the mighty 992.1 turbo s,
what about the 997 Turbo?
You didn't mention the 997.2 Carrera base which has the classic design, compact size and the robust DFI engine. With only a limited production, this car will certainly go up in value and a great future investment!
Yup. Agree with that, they cost a bit more but they have better engines so they are definitely worth the investment 👍👍
997.2 is where the sensible money is going, especially in coupe/manual transmission 👍
997.2 Manuel getting valuable
I think all the 997’s will climb in value like crazy once electric becomes the norm. At least climb more in relation to what they are worth right now compared to the 91’s and 92’s.
I would say a low mileage manual 997.1 c2 for £30 k with sub 40k on the clock would be the best investment- best driver car none pasm and the lightest model. Also been low mileage hopefully would avoided the salt in winter so will not need a 10 k paint job or rust cutting out. Also they seem to bore less then a s model. 2 k a year summer mileage - will be only 60 k on clock when they peak in ten years - no cost on paint job - so that is the best maths for investment as i imagine it would be a good 50 k car by then. Hence my tip is a low mileage 997.1 c2.
Get over the damn 996 headlights...the 991 has non round headlights and no one says a word
If a 997 was actually $24,000 I promise you I would have one by now
Those are U.K. prices just converted to UsD. Sorry for confusion 👍
Great content Al. i'd also throw in 997.2 GTS and 991.2 Carrera T - purely because production numbers were low and at the time of launch/ when the models were live, people were questioning the point. Bodes well when you look at Porsche's back catalogue of "what's the point" models....
Ha, excellent Satch, I have a 996.2 C4S manual. I thought that I was looking for a 996.1 narrow body tiptronic, then saw a c4s and lost all reason 😅. She's lovely and has a new clutch, ims, and rms. I bought her from Williams Crawford in Saltash. Properly gone through before handover and is a joy.😊 I keep looking at gt3's ,but I don't have the funds by a long way sadly 😔. A little surprised that there's no cayman in the list.
You're right absolutely right about the 964...but not the 993. Bog standard Carrera 2's were going for £30K+ 20 years ago. They've always been expensive as the last aircooled model.
I concur. I’ve had my 993 since June of 2003 and these cars were extremely popular way back then.
My bad. 👍
@@alsatch_ All good, brother! 🤙
Thanks Al. Love my 997S. Had the trans cracked open to check the IMS 4 years ago. The peace of mind provided was well worth the cost. It’s still low miles (37k) and I love it! Black with terra cotta full leather.
No mention to the 987 Cayman S? Especially 987.2, Last of Hydraulic steering, lower numbers due to years produced and enthusiasts love them
How you not don’t mention 997.1 turbo that’s gonna be the one to watch
Agree with the 3.2 Carrera G body but only the ‘87-‘89 with G50 transmission coupe or targa. These are outpacing most classic Pcars and are fun, fun, fun!
Watching this after i bought a 997 4S in the US. Also the market here in Chicago is already high, i paid 50k usd for mine with 80,000 miles but are more in the market for well over 90k usd in GOOD condition and low miles.
The G-body 3.2 targa wide body turbo look (M491 option) is a specific category which trending up. I bought a relatively low mileage one for £67k. It needs some work - I’m currently rebuilding the suspension and replacing the brake lines etc. But it’s a solid car and very beautiful- a real head turner! I see that similar cars are trading closer to £100k… so not sure if they have already peaked. But it’s a keeper. The 915 transmission is a joy to use. Properly old school and tremendous charm with it!
Love the honesty on the opening, hope alls well!
Thanks mate all good here thanks for watching 👍
Today the pound = 1.27 US dollars. Good luck finding any Porsche in the USA on this list at those prices that doesn’t have a salvage title.
I was just converting the U.K. prices to US dollars as I know there are a lot of us viewers.
Always thought the same about a 997S gen 1. If a G50 3.2 is £50k you could buy a 997S, hartech rebuild and full mechanical overhaul for £50k. I know what i'd prefer.
Absolutely. You could have a very well solid sorted 997 for that price. It would be 50k plus more for the upkeep and restoration of the 3.2. Thanks for watching 👍
Curious where you are seeing the prices listed for GT3’s? I thought I was losing my mind when you showed those prices so I went to look it up (997 GT3) and the prices are double or more for most sales
I use the Autotrader. Right now the cheapest is 77k but have seen them for around the 70k mark (just nothing right now) - I actually shot the video back in March 2023 👍
@@alsatch_ well damn! I’ll have to set some alarms for that. Thanks for the heads up
I think your 997 prices are very conservative 😊I’ve got at 997 C4s convertible (mint) I’ve recently turned down £30k for it. Great video though. Cheers
Manual 997.2 Targas baby!!!
Your USA prices are off. You can’t get GT3s for the prices you cited in the US
I was just converting the U.K. prices to US dollars as I know there are a lot of us viewers.
First gen base 996.1 Carrera are not a bad buy either
Great i have the 997 carrera 4S with gt3 pack❤❤❤❤
What, no Caymans 😢?
Good shout, I’ve got a Cayman R…..manual, hydraulic steering, proper analogue driver’s car, and rare, only 100 manual gearbox cars in the UK, surely more collectible than a Cayenne SUV which is basically a VW in drag
I do t care about the fried egg headlights .
I’m sure most people feel the same now , the original gt3 is an absolute icon now .
Yep. Those who know can see past them, they are beautiful in my eyes 👍👍
@@alsatch_
100%
The original 3.4 c2
That’s a proper drivers car too
Extremely light and sounds amazing on full chat .
I'm glad to see that the 996 are actually getting more popular. I love mine. I have a 996.2 with an aero kit and suspension upgrade. The lights actually look really good with the Aero kit and I like the interior better than the Toyota like interior of the 997 just my opinion..😊
which diagnostic tool do you recommend for a Porsche 991 for oil resets and fault finding
Hey / take a look at this kit, the best handheld tool for porsche - diagnostic-world.com/pages/list_of_all_auto_diagnostic_tools_273181-z=960092&p=135369.cfm#content_item_135369
Glad I rediscovered this channel, new channel name? great content thanks

An interesting video and recommendation by specialist.. 997S, or 9974S in a good shape would be for 20-30k really a great investition, but they cost today much much more 😝😝😝
It may also be worth considering things from the (so called) eco angle. Most 'young' classics will probably be subject to an ulez type charge in very many towns & cities in the uk and europe. In the EU and UK, euro 6 cars (approx after 2017) should be OK (and in the UK have lower annual road tax).
would you prefer a 997.1 or 997.2 C2S?
Tough one. 997,2 is probably the better car but I love my 997.1
Could flip an coin for me 👍
Great video. Toying with the idea of a 997 Carrera S but it would be my daily so not sure... 😂
In all honesty it could be done depending on your situation. If it’s just you and your partner it’s do-able, if you have kids I would definitely think twice. You’d be the coolest dad but frustrated when you want to load car with kids stuff bikes etc. 👍
@@alsatch_ Oh no, just me and the partner with no plans for kids. I currently drive a mk3 TTs, so it would definitely work in that respect. I'm mainly nervous about things going wrong and it being potentially catastrophically expensive. Definitely thinking about it! Cheers for the reply, love your content. :)
@@GerrardTorres7665as a daily I would rather have a 996. I have a 996 and 997 that I don't daily. But if I had to, definitely the 996. Softer ride and more comfortable seats. More than enough performance and lighter on fuel.
I daily a 4s 997.2 and it’s perfect.
996 c4s looks better than any gen 1 997
GT4 no brainer
Keeping my 4RS until it’s worth a milli. If you want to review it hit me up 👊🏻😎 been looking at 955 Turbos haven’t seen the one yet though
That would be mega mate hit me an email if you can driver_81@outlook.com
955’s I sooo want one but just have too many toys right now 😂😫
@@alsatch_ pinged you a email ✌️
Add the GTS4 997.2
Cayman GTS
Where do you see a 2022 Cayman GTS 4.0 in 20 years?
It will be a highly sought after car that’s for sure. 20 years from now we’ll see far less N/A cars on the road. It’s one to hold onto for sure 👍
Nice 997 is my all time fav Can you upload more videos each week please? Thanks
For sure I have lots more coming thanks for watching 👍
Lol 10 years ago you couldn’t find a 993 for 15k pounds. Not even double that. And you for sure ain’t going to buy a 997 for 20k. Damn man what are you using I need that stuff too.
Ha. You might be right about the 993’s I got that wrong but there are currently 4 997’s on Autotrader alone under 20k all you have to do is check my friend 👍
If I were buying a Porsche for investment, it would be the 911 Dakar... period...
I thought the 997’s were twice that?
They are well priced and some very good deals out there
@@alsatch_ Good vid
