I've been holding out for Toyota to make the V-6 RAV again but so far no luck. I lost mine in a car accident in 2015. It was in perfect condition with over 220k and I expected to get at least another 100k if an accident hadn't taken her from me. I'm rambling because I loved mine so much. I really like the look of this one but still hoping for a V-6 in the future.
Oh look Toyota took many design cues for the Dash/gauges and chassis design from the 2014 JEEP Cherokee KL. Heck even the back looks like a JEEP had a baby with a Hyundai.
It does look nice overall. I did rent one for two days and it seems to be under powered when going up hill. I am usually a die hard Toyota fan but if I were in the market I think I would have look at other options before making a decision.

I personally test drove 2019 RAV4 two weeks ago to buy the XLE-premium trim just to get the blind spot monitoring system. Just few seconds after we started, I got disappointed! The engine noise was so horrible that I asked the dealer guy whether or not we could go back to the dealership right then ! I have no idea why the new RAV4 engine is screaming so loud during the initial acceleration. Also, the driver seat cushion was slightly short for me as a 6’ tall man. On the positive side however, the suspension was great. It could dampen the bumps even better than 2018 Cadillac XT5 I had some experience with earlier. At the end I ended up in another SUV, mainly because of the aforementioned noisy 2.5L engine and slow acceleration. My final word: make sure you test drive it carefully before making up your minds. Don’t spend ~ $ 30k of your money without test driving 2019 RAV4.
A gas, XSE V6 trim level would’ve been perfect. Thanks a lot Toyota, now I have to either wait and see if this will be offered in the 2020 models or go weigh my options elsewhere.

@@MasonMorris_RadioSaladStudios IF the Cherokee lasted long enough... No actually. Let's consider this very carefully. The RAV has command over this segment but Hyundai will soon be up to the game. Finally a very in depth and thorough test drive review!!! Everyone else on youtube missed by a mile....Thank you so much! Can you test drive the Adventure model for performance thoughts?
Could be normal. I think reverse works off the rear axle and it’s totally electric back there. I have noticed some different noises also. Some of them they went over with us at the dealership.
I like the new looks ! Gives you that rhaaawww first impression. Definately beats the current generation CRV to me. Can you show us how it handles in deep snow? I know for sure the new Forester handles very well(they have a deep snow mode) and i want to compare the two. Reliability/safety are the most important thing for a suv.
I literally thought those two guys were the same person until they sat right next to each other in the same car. I’ve seen many of their vids and they have so many similarities. It’s kinda cool to see them together.
Stereo Typist Yes! My mom bought one in 2007. Toyota lost her by doing away with the V6, though I guess they just got her back in a sense with her brand new RX350 Luxury. She didn't want anything without a V6. Lol
I liked the previous generation Highlander much better. The current Highlander front grille is ridiculous. The only way Toyota could make the grille larger is to wrap it up onto the windshield and around the sides. Newsflash Toyota: That little V6 engine doesn't need ALL the air.
why does every vehicle have to be sporty for it to be considered good? if i cant feel any bumps on the road whatsoever and sit on the softest seats then that's a win in my book.

@@Sicktrickintuner not entirely the old V6 has 269 hp, the new 2.5 at about 220. I won't be able to say how much of a difference it will feel to me until i drive the new Hybrid version.
kai zen: I'm part of the anti-CVT brigade, too. Have to admit, however, that several manufacturers have improved the design significantly in the last few years. I think Toyota has avoided them as a part of their tendency to sacrifice innovation in the interest of reliability. Same applies to Toyota's reluctance to embrace small displacement turbos.
@Stephen Hendricks wholeheartedly in agreement. CVTs have gradually improved. Still, it's hard to shake the stigma that comes along with it. From Audi and the debacle with it's JATCO CVTs to Nissan's reluctance to acknowledge is problematic CVTs then finally extending the warranty on it's transmissions. Maybe I'll wait a few generations 😊

Drastic change I'd say from the previous model, but those millions of old Rav 4s will be excellent used cars. although the resale value never drops...ugh!
I considered the RAV4 hybrid, but the milquetoast performance, especially of it's AWD, sent me over to the CX5 GT-R, with the turbo. Having owned plenty of sports cars, the CX5 with turbo actually makes me smile.
Glad to see the new RAV4 is improved. I seriously thought of getting a RAV4 but after having a 2016 RAV4 as a dealer loaner it seemed tippy and noisy. I traded my 2007 Forester instead on a cert-pre-owned 2015 Camry LE off a 2 year lease with 23k miles w/ included 7yr/100k power train warr. I got it for $15,500 because sedans aren't in demand anymore. An equivalent year & model RAV4 was $3k more. Good to know RAV4 is a better vehicle day.
It would make no sense for Toyota to put a six cylinder in a car that is ment for fuel efficient daily drives. I'd rather see a fully electric version with a 75 kWh battery or a 2.0l diesel for those who want more torque for towing.
I hate all these “journalists” keep saying “wish they had this feature like the other high ends would have” This is not a high end car. ugh. He’s the worst car review.

The Cherokee would take it to school and make it cry.
goyaskippy81 you absolutely right
@@MasonMorris_RadioSaladStudios IF the Cherokee lasted long enough... No actually. Let's consider this very carefully. The RAV has command over this segment but Hyundai will soon be up to the game. If the RAV doesn't kill the Cherokee, the Hyundai will. The only reason the Cherokee drives away from the dealership is because its inexpensive, initially.
But without the crap build quality and poor driving behaviour. Jeep is pure garbage.
I see Redline Review, I see Toyota or Lexus. Like right away. 👍🏻
Just got the Rav 4 Hybrid limited. Was a great overview of the vehicle(s). Keep up the great work.
Damon Broderick what do you think of it?
@@bthojh9849 Great! still on my first tank of gas and i have it @ 34 mpg. The cooled/heated seat come in handy. The 360 camera is great to have.
Wow the interior and MPG figures are a big upgrade! Great review Sofyan!
Your reviews are AMAZING. They really help to make a decision when getting a new car!
Interior looks like my 2019 Corolla Hatchback, which I love. Can not wait to get this big brother version.
I'll be getting this one next. It'll be my first SUV/cross over. 😁
This model by far looks better than the previous one ..( my opinion)
If I were a soccer mom with a bad attitude, I'd buy this.
Don't worry, Shit-UVs will eventually die. With the amount of energy these things require to transport their lazy suburban ass from their kids' school to Walmart, we will run out crude oil in no time.
@That Guy From Legendary Axe i wishthey brought back the old body on frame suvs with the spare wheel stuck on the tailgate which were actually meant for off roading... Those were REAL SUVS
Ed Jones well you got one of those things lol
Wow, someone managed to make the RAV4 into a political argument. People are bored.
Lmao, Has that grumpy soccer mom neighbor look right?
This is a great video. I just got a 2012 Toyota RAV4 Limited Edition and I love the 3.5 L V6 mine came with. Thank you for your great work.
If this had the 3.5 in it... what a monster that would be lol
Bernie on Cars 6.2 liter Corvette Engine! HAHAHA!
My moms '11 rav4 has the v6 fwd with like 260hp. Now thing is fast...
Tina Young no sorry. I meant the looks
Tina Young 4Runner has a 4L v6
I have the 2007 RAV4 with the 3.5 v6 4wd sport. It is pretty quick for a cross over. 269 horse power gets you going. Do wish the new adventure came with this 3.5 engine.
Love my Rav. Getting the same mileage I was getting on my old compact. Happy to say the least.
Finally a very in depth and thorough test drive review!!! Everyone else on youtube missed by a mile....Thank you so much! Can you test drive the Adventure model for performance thoughts?
Damnnnn the silver colorway is sick
I miss the old hot rod V6 trims that these used to come in....A new 300hp Rav4 Sport would be nice :D
2021 RAV4 Prime Plug in hybrid over 300hp. 40 miles or more electric range.
As I watch this video I own a 2018 RAV4 I like how they gave this RAV4 a better line of sight at the mirror I wish my 2018 had good move Toyota
I want that xse in red interior😍
Great review again, thanks! I am balancing between this (hybrid) and the Subaru Forester. Each has their own strengths.
Adventure Forester me too. Which one did you get ?
Just bought one and we absolutely love it. We got this exact model. The blizzard pearl paint is very nice.
bkbrown5881 i did bougth one too but my makes a weird sound when i put it in revers.
Well,well,well...I knew I had my troubles with Sofyan before but this review was well done.
Tell the CRV to take a hike,RAV4 is here to take over.
Don't think so, CR-V still out sells this.
Andyco79 Look here, for 2019 the CRV will not outsell the RAV4,use your common sense fanboy.
I literally thought those two guys were the same person until they sat right next to each other in the same car. I’ve seen many of their vids and they have so many similarities. It’s kinda cool to see them together.
There is one thing missing, A V6
@Tina Young there is a reason some people want a v6 in this vehicle. Atleast give us the option to do so.
Tina Young Not everyone wants the three row Highlander or the body on frame 4Runner, or the expensive price tag of a Lexus RX350
Stereo Typist Yes! My mom bought one in 2007. Toyota lost her by doing away with the V6, though I guess they just got her back in a sense with her brand new RX350 Luxury. She didn't want anything without a V6. Lol
Blue Legion I think cause that's the traditional sturdy engine with some power in their minds. Power is also a safety feature really.
I liked the previous generation Highlander much better. The current Highlander front grille is ridiculous. The only way Toyota could make the grille larger is to wrap it up onto the windshield and around the sides. Newsflash Toyota: That little V6 engine doesn't need ALL the air.
been in love with the 19 Rav4 since I first saw it... I wish so much I could afford it.
why does every vehicle have to be sporty for it to be considered good? if i cant feel any bumps on the road whatsoever and sit on the softest seats then that's a win in my book.
I hate crossovers but this thing is impressive. It would be awesome if this thing gets the 3.5l v6.
sayem 16.4 unfortunately Toyota has no plans to bring back the 3.5 liter v6 to the RAV4. I wish they would too, I still own a 2007 RAV4 Limited with the v6 and I love its power and acceleration.
The new 2.5 has pretty much the same hp as the old v6
@@Sicktrickintuner not entirely the old V6 has 269 hp, the new 2.5 at about 220. I won't be able to say how much of a difference it will feel to me until i drive the new Hybrid version.
Why it doesn't have the projector LED headlights on all trims, but only the hybrid?
Rented one! And it was very nice . Was impressed with the sport mode
Much better looking than the current rav4 but then again that doesn't mean much
Haha i like how you said just outside of San Francisco. Carmel is easily 2 hours away.
Its a hybrid design , retro box combined with unibody. Looks really cool!
FML I just bought an LE!! If I waited a few months I would have been able to get the hybrid 😭
Kudos to Toyota for doubling down with 8spd automatics! I will never purchase a Cvt equipped vehicle (excluding Toyota CVTs, of course)😁
What's wrong with the efficiency of the CVT?
Rubber banding was the biggest problem o had with the CVT. Other than that, it worked well and kept the rpms where they were needed.
kai zen: I'm part of the anti-CVT brigade, too. Have to admit, however, that several manufacturers have improved the design significantly in the last few years. I think Toyota has avoided them as a part of their tendency to sacrifice innovation in the interest of reliability. Same applies to Toyota's reluctance to embrace small displacement turbos.
Unreliable except the Toyota ones if u have to get a cvt get a Toyota one
@Stephen Hendricks wholeheartedly in agreement. CVTs have gradually improved. Still, it's hard to shake the stigma that comes along with it.
From Audi and the debacle with it's JATCO CVTs to Nissan's reluctance to acknowledge is problematic CVTs then finally extending the warranty on it's transmissions.
Maybe I'll wait a few generations 😊
This is a very nice trim, you get all what you really needed Some people ask for more that they don't really need & doesn't really buy too
The first RAV four that I really like. The interior has been largely improved.
I think the new RAV4 will sell very well.
400k sold in 2018, bet half a million in 2019.... next only to Ford F-150 globally...
Your voice is smooth, easy flowing and clear. One tip if I may, please stop saying "actually" at almost EVERY sentence. Otherwise, most professional delivery.
Drastic change I'd say from the previous model, but those millions of old Rav 4s will be excellent used cars. although the resale value never drops...ugh!
Omg I saw one with blackrims and dark blue it wad amazing ... looking like range rover
I considered the RAV4 hybrid, but the milquetoast performance, especially of it's AWD, sent me over to the CX5 GT-R, with the turbo. Having owned plenty of sports cars, the CX5 with turbo actually makes me smile.
Who else remembers when the RAV4 used to be a compact SUV, this thing is nearly the same size as the 1st gen Highlander!
Our next family car 😍😍😍😍 Looks so mean!
You need to be a narrator bro you rock it
it is funny to watch American car tests from Europe. In Europe this is a family vehicle size. The "compact" means half of this, max.
the look on their faces as they floored it!
Why don't they just make a V6 Rav4 again?
You Like!? Emissions
v6 are less reliable gas killer
Bc the v6 would dust all the sports cars.
Because nobody wants a crossover that gets 18 MPG
@@masternobody1896 wrong. Those 3.5L 2GR V6 are far reliable
It would make no sense for Toyota to put a six cylinder in a car that is ment for fuel efficient daily drives. I'd rather see a fully electric version with a 75 kWh battery or a 2.0l diesel for those who want more torque for towing.
Yeah I agree with criticism of the back up camera. We definitely have the tech for car makers to make ‘em a lot more sharper.
I hate all these “journalists” keep saying “wish they had this feature like the other high ends would have” This is not a high end car. ugh. He’s the worst car review.
It is real stitching on the dash, I build the new Rav4 in Canada.
Why does Toyota give Canada the Trail and the USA the Adventure? And why can’t us Canadians get a full pano roof in a similar model like the US vehicles?
No it’s just injection molded to look real. It’s not.
Mr Dice i build them, there isn’t a full pano roof yet
