The Phony Phantom is actually the most terrifying of the original spooks because it's literally just a crazy guy trying to axe murder you. Like if he wasn't wearing the bedsheet it would be just as scary.
He only shows up at the very end and he’s using the ax to look for treasure in the wall. They were haunted by the headless specter and the ghost balloons for most of the episode. He leaves the ax behind to chase Shaggy and Scooby
Velma claims the paranormal doesn't exist while in 'Hassle in the Castle' Shaggy idly asks for a ham sandwich in an empty room only for one to materialize from thin-air and float down in front of him. And when he asks for mustard the same thing happens again. Both times his hand passes over the top revealing there are no wires. He brushes it off as his imagination but Scooby is next to him and visibly reacts to it. This is never explained by the end of the episode.
Honestly, the whole "there's no such thing as ghost and the supernatural" falls pretty flat when you stop to remember that Scooby-Doo is a TALKING DOG. Apparently, ghost are scientifically impossible in the Scooby-Doo universe, but talking animals are not. :/
@Robin The God First, I'm not an atheist (I'm mostly agnostic). Second, I never said whether ghosts are real or not, because I was talking about the in-universe canon of the Scooby-Doo cartoons. In-universe, they claim that ghost and the supernatural are not real (despite all the different times when they are), but they consistently ignore how Scooby-Doo is a talking dog and how scientifically implausibly that is...basically I was poking fun at the critical flaw in the cartoon's own logic.
Captain Cutler was easily my favourite monster. Now I can consider myself to be old enough to become the villain, and now I finally know how to do so! Thanks Ed!
My opinion of Eddache went from “funny animated man of entertainment” to “High Society Jester for the Upper Class” the exact moment he showed a photo of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
There's always been a small presence of real supernatural elements in Scooby Doo. Heck that bone floating in A Night of Fright is No Delight was a real ghost. On top of the entries where those elements were the focus, the Scooby Universe also takes place in the same world as the Funky Phantom and some versions with the DCU. They just tend to come across more hoaxes and Velma is pretty skeptical. Shag and Scoob are rightfully scared no matter what cause even if it isn't real, it's some freak trying to kill/chase them off.
I think I laughed too much as you said "now I know how what's like to be a farther" as your child is like "yay!" Befor door closed. Loved it and love the videos

I love these more research oriented videos. Lemme shoot you an idea for next Christmas: In the movie Arthur Christmas, many numbers are thrown around regarding the efficiency of the elves and the S1. Speed of the ship, number of elves per household and amount of time spent in each one, even cargo limit of each elf. Even the sleigh is said to travel at something like 30,000 mph My challenge to you is to determine if these numbers add up. Can a ship that size deliver all those gifts in one night, before 6 am GMT? You also gotta consider the population of the world that celebrates Christmas and the density of those areas. NYC for example would take much longer than Cornwall, England because of it's larger population, but it's more densely packed and has a smaller surface area. Normally I'd say the writers just pulled some numbers out of thin air, but this is Aardman we're talking about. If they'll willing to make a clay chicken actually knit using little tooth picks, anything is possible.
Love this video!! Only issue is that there is a third season of Scooby-Doo Where Are You! consisting of 16 more episodes, although I honestly would have probably expected it to be cut for time even if it was acknowledged. Still, the video is funny as ever!!
Wow, I had bought the "complete" collection and it absolute did not include those. In fact, looking into it, those 16 episodes appear to be actually "The Scooby Doo Show" that they just slapped on the "Where Are You" title sequence on during the re-runs. Very confusing!!
@@eddache that's really bizzare!! I just recently got the 50th Anniversary Bluray set, so I assumed the collected episodes would all be in the same series. This franchise does have a wide history of repackaging itself for reruns as you said though, so it doesnt surprise me that would be the case!! Glad I could learn something from this!!
There's a good reason the projections work so well: the characters are all just 2D images on a 2D background, so it's impossible for them to tell a 2D projection apart from the real thing.
At age 4, Daphne was my first crush. Yeah, the 'explanations' were really stretching what was actually possible. Mystery, Inc. kind of parodied that initially, with people in masks doing really incredible things, but then they came up with a magical explanation towards the end of the series, undermining any rational explanation.
I got the MC Escher reference! Probably because I grew up with multiple copies of the movie Labyrinth, and my mom is an artist. Art history is one of the things that you always have a loose idea of in a household like mine.

There is actually a more common hologram method commonly used, which is a series of prism reflecting light and creating an image in the 3D space above it, only problem is that it is visible only from certain angles and with certain light conditions.
