Thx for this helpful vid. If i want to use the Nektar Pacer footcontroller with both Ableton and Boss rc505 How easy is it to go from one to the other seperately? Do I need to reconfigure? How about simultanously? Thank you!
Hey Mike - you can connect the Pacer to your computer/Mac AND the Boss RC505 on the same time. You would need to set the Pacer to send the right MIDI messages which are expected by the RC505 - Ableton Live is a little more flexible and can be mapped to custom MIDI CC and Notes values. Just in case I have a M4L looper for Ableton Live -> blog.abletondrummer.com/live-looping-with-ableton-live/
Great video! Thanks! Just subscribed. If Im using your Max for live plugin for the FCB1010, does that mean the pedal then could only be used for ableton or could I theoretically use some banks for ableton and other banks for controlling other products outside of ableton like guitar rig 6 in cubase or even banks for a standalone neural Dsp plugin for example?
Hey - the FCB1010 (or the Nectar Pacer or the MP100) will send its default MIDI Messages to Ableton Live and to any other software (or hardware) you connect and route it to on the same time. My M4L devices will receive the MIDI messages from the MIDI foot pedals and 'translate' those into selectable trigger actions (or into MIDI notes) in Ableton Live. So yes, in theory you can use and specify actions e.g. in one bank for Ableton Live then switch to a bank and have this trigger things 'somewhere' else. The question would be HOW flexible the other software you want to control are e.g. to be able to listen to and trigger things only if you are in Bank X.
@@abletondrummer oh drat. Thanks for the response! Just to confirm, if I midi map the ON/OFF of a device or plugin from ableton to a MP100 switch, the LED with that switch wont respond accordingly to that on / off indication?
Hey the Nectar Pacer can send up to 6 MIDI messages with one press. The other ones 'only' send one. However IF we are talking controlling multiple actions in Ableton Live you can set this up with one MIDI Messages.
Good video. As I just got the M4L device for FCB1010 I decided to subscribe to your channel too. 😊 You must have had a small blackout when you were talking about the FCB1010 and stated that there are no free third-party editor for it. There are at least two, maybe three, that I have come across. One of which only work on windows, the other works for both windows and Mac. You seemed to lose the thread there for a moment, also when you talked about your M4L device, so I'm sure you know that already and just suffered a momentary lapse of concentration. 😊 👍
Hey sorry If I made unclear what I meant. What I wanted to say: there are some 3rd party editors but there is no free one provided by Behringer/Nectar/HarleyBenton - That means there is none which is officially supported.
Yes, that's what I thought you were thinking of. As I said, it seemed like you just lost track there for a moment while recording the video. I like the video. It's wery balanced and informative. Keep it up. 😊 👍
Hi , Thank you for your video. I just got the M wave chocolate midi controller and the expression pedal. Do you have videos explaining how to use them on abelton? would appreciate it
That m wave chocolate is shocking, i plugged it in via usb and it just refuses to work as it should, i try to use it to trigger scene changes but when I map it, all four buttons register as Pitchbend 1, so i can only use one button before ableton replaces my mapping, and even then, i try to trigger the scene launch with the one working button and it does nothing at all. Really wanted this to work, any advice would be really welcome
You can edit what kind of MIDI messages it is sending via an App. Unfortunately the Editor App is a little clunky to understand. I have making a tutorial on that on my to-do list…
Def a great option! When it comes to price and accessibility: Peeps want to control different things in different ways and for a lot of Ableton Live Users the Softstep would be a little 'too much' in price and might not be the best option for setting up things quick and flexible.
Those MIDI controllers are sending MIDI. You would need to research what apps/daws are MIDI compatible and what messages they need and then you need to pick a MIDI controller which can send those messages. You would then need to check how and what MIDI connections your Android can work with

the mvave is so great for the price! lil finicky to run 2 simultanouesly, but once you got it set up the way you want for ableton, seems good to go!!
i notice LEDs on the MP100. Are those LED responsive to the midi return on/off of your midi mapping? It's the one thing I wish I had with the mvave!
Unfortunately the leds cant be adressed via something external

@@JonahHache Yep you are right: the MP100 won't reflect the state of the MAPed parameter in Ableton Live
The M Vave is impossibly difficult to set up with Ableton on computer [ no phone] any links or help??
I show hoe to set the M Wave Chocolate to send MIDI Notes here: ruclips.net/video/b0Fj0_JNHis/видео.html
Hi thanx.. can you send different messages to different machines to control them? Nektar, behringer?

Always good information but why always dark view??
haha - because I like it
What about the Morningstar pedals?

To control Ableton? My favourite is still the McMillan Softstep.
