Hey it is a little more complex then just converting - for the native MIDI MAP in Ableton Live the MIDI messages need to be coming 'external' - so only converting would be only the first step but then sending MIDI OUT via IAC(virtual MIDI Bus) and then routing back would work. Regarding the toggle and Note or CC question - it really depends what your controller is sending. One solution could be to use my "Advanced MIDI Control Buttons" device (which reacts to Note or CC) and MAP this to control parameters in Ableton Live as it will observe the state of the parameter and will always toggle the opposite of its current state blog.abletondrummer.com/advanced-midi-control-in-ableton-live/

Hey - there are a few things you could check: -please make sure to hit "Refresh" on the Looper devices (once after changing track numbers etc.) - the loopers need to get the infos of what tracks are present and should be triggered -make sure ARM is activated when rec to a track, the looper has an Auto-ARM On/Off function and would take care of that if activated (which it is per default) It helps to take the time to watch the full run-through videos to dive a little deeper and understand all functions: ruclips.net/video/5wCiUkaXJvU/видео.html

Hey - when everything is recorded into the Arrangement you would need to 'clean' all loopers, click on "Back To Arrangement" to activate all the recorded clips in Arrangement and then hit export. That should be it.

I did that but the problem is that even though the loops are clean and the automation is activated, the button activates while exporting and so the loops work fine up to a point but then never turn off. I don't know if there are problems with conflicting information in the loopers that don't allow them to be exported properly

@@seethruseethru ah ok - you would just need to turn off the loopers or even delete the MIDI tracks you got the looper on - you just want to export the tracks n clips you have recorded to but don't want the M4L loopers to do anything while exporting

Hey - it is a little more complicated, let me explain: Ableton Live's native MIDI Mapping doesn't look what current state a parameter is in. My Advanced MIDI Control Buttons plug in will do, so if you use that it always triggers the opposite state. BUT unfortunately Ableton didn't make the ARM accessible via the Ableton-M4L.API - this means you could use the "Automation Arm" on a track and MAP from the Advanced MIDI Control Buttons to the Automation ARM device. blog.abletondrummer.com/advanced-midi-control-in-ableton-live/

Hey - yep - you would need to record the created MIDI via the device into another MIDI Track. That is the way like Ableton Live's MIDI tracks are working. Just set up a second MIDI Track and under "MIDI From" select the track you got the extended Keyboard M4L device sitting on.

Hey - yep as you are able to set up the audio routing in Ableton Live quite flexible you could route the audio to however you like. e.g. you could even route 'everything' to one Audio Track and re-route this ONE audio track to the loopers tracks. I wasn't referring to routing to a single track, although had thought of that as plan b in case we couldn't record individual tracks - this could work as long as the single track to be looped can be stereo. It looks like the template is all mono tracks.

@@AudioMarsh Yep you can set this to receive a stereo signal. You can as well set up the tracks within a 'looper group' to receive Audio from different sources.

@@abletondrummer I bought one button looper, fixed length, and quantize. I am having THE most frustrating time with trying to record a 4 bar loop in session for kick, snare, OH L, and OH R in simultaneoulsy. That is, I must record four seperate layers (I.e. tracks) in one take for the drum looper (then record other loops over that group or tracks later). The control tracks parameter is set to 4 ( I refreshed), and all tracks are armed, but only the first track (Kick) records a clip!! This is the same in your demos - only ever one track records one new clip at a time... (I need x4). None of your demos cover what you claimed above to be possible, so I can't copy them. I tried consulting the Tobibot thing and it just suggested to set things up exactly the way I have. When I said I had already had already done that, I tried to push me into buying lessons. Extremely disillusioned so far. I would just like the basic functionality I paid for to work as described and promised. :(

​​⁠hey sorry to hear that this isn‘t fun for you finding the right setup technique here. The looper is not made for recording multiple tracks at once (and this is not whats promoted here or elsewhere) and this is not the way most peeps want it to use. It is recording/looping/handling ONE source of audio (or midi) and making it possible to rec/add layers - so your routing with one looper for 4 sources wouldnt work. BUT you can set up 4 loopers for each source and control all 4 loopers via the same Midi control, so rec/loop/delete etc. for all 4 loopers would be in sync. Another solution could b to route all 4 source tracks into one audio track and record from this one audio into one looper. If none of that is a satisfying solution please drop me an email and we will work out a refund

Hey - it is a little sturdy at the start as you would need to make sure that all clips have scale awareness de-activated. Then of course ‚only‘ being in the same harmony or using the circle of fifth doesnt necessarily mean that its all gonna sound great - BUT its a great tool if you stuck and reproduce the same chord progressions/movements and if you want to explore new combinations

The native mapping wouldn't work as expected e.g. the SCN-7 preset sends out different values on the same MIDI CC number which the native Ableton Live MIDI Mapping can't be used for different controls. However you could set up your own custom preset but If using the native Mapping you would get 6 controls 'only' - with this tool you get 128 layers of 6 controls each

Hey regarding 1. - A clip recording needs to b happening to record MIDI notes and won't take MIDI notes in which are played before recording. 2.Quantisation will be applied after the recording - (keep in mind that we are in Session here and "overdubbing" is done via the "Session Record Button" for MIDI in Session.) When you rec a clip and re-trigger it but "Session Rec" is active - you can still rec MIDI - after de-activation of Session Rec the quantisation will be applied.

Hey - I m not 100% sure if I get your exact use case but I m guessing you could just activate "Start Recording On Scene Launch" (in the Prefs under Record, Warp+Launch -> Launch)

@@abletondrummer Thank you for your answer <3 I did not know this function. But I want to record automatically a clip just for a couple of specific scenes. This function "Start Recording On Scene Launch" is triggering a recording everytime I launch a scene. Doesn't work for me.

Hey unfortunately Ableton decided to not make 'everything' which is MIDI Map-able being accessible to the M4L-API via selecting it via mouse click. I have done quite a few devices which can be 'sit in between' for that, meaning you would use those devices to access certain functions via them AND then MAP the Pacer plugin to those M4L devices. @@mirandazohran Hey IF you are sending out MIDI from a Track then yes. IF you are using the native blue MIDI MAP function and send messages out via a MIDI Remote Out port then you would need to use an external app for monitoring MIDI messages.

Hey please make sure and test IF the MIDI Note is really going into this track (e.g. record it into there or use a MIDI Monitor M4l device to double check) - IF that is being received: currently the "Off by Note Function" is set to work IF the LOOP ON was engaged via the device. Does this help?

@@abletondrummer Thanks for the advise! I recorded the note onto a midi track and found it was a different note?! So the Roland module is not sending the same note I told it to. Even when switching the device to the correct note it didn't work quite yet. But I used the repitch button and hit the pad and it fixed the issue. Thank you! It's working great now.

@@iangalloway6360 ah great - yep thats what the "S" (Sync/Learn) button is for, just activate this, hit the pad + the MIDI note pitch is set automatically. Roland starts counting MIDI note numbers one octave below then Ableton Live does. So C0 in Roland is C1 in Ableton Live and so on...
