I have a Cayman S with 111,000 miles on it and will never sell it I’m 54 and yes I red line it, you don’t have to be under 30 to enjoy and drive it like it should be driven 😜
The 911 is in a class by itself as no other auto manufacture has offered a non-interrupted and refined car model from introduction to present (50+ years) to say the least. Theres always a comparison to the 911 and truthfull not necessary. I'd consider myself a diehard 911 person. Put simply a 911 is three padel car as originally designed.
Great video Tedward! I don't have a Porsche but I do love the cars! You made me appreciate Porsche cars when I subscribed to your channel and when I saw your Outlaw back in May. Magnus Walker also helped made me appreciate them when I saw him and the variety of Porsche's in the car meet in Brooklyn a couple of months ago. Last night, I was driving on route 107 to Glen Cove to meet up with my friends when I saw a black 991 turbo in front of me! I was driving behind the 991 for 5 miles smiling just listening to the engine, and the crackle and pops from the exhaust!
Hey Ted, I once could have belonged to your under-30 Porsche club, having bought my 911 the day after my 29th bday. Alas, here I am less than 2 yrs away from 60. But I still have the Porsche! Hope you young fellers hang on to yours until near old age. Have you done any PCA driver's ed events? If not, why not?!
Between your video, Nick's, and the Obsessed Garage series, I am starting to warm up to the idea that I need to graduate out of the BMW world eventually and try a Porsche. I only have 7 months to make it into your fancy club though, better get on it!
Why do purists hate everything? 😂... I do think it’s ironic how the Porsche community will support their argument that Porsche is the best car/supercar with specs that can only be accomplished with the PDK while at the same time lamenting anything that isn’t a 6 speed manual gearbox. It’s just odd to me how I much disrespect I’ve seen within the Porsche community for the Turbo S, a combustible engine car that can beat a Tesla P100D, yet immense amount of respect for the GT3 RS manual, a car that a Viper and Vette Z06 can beat around the track. And it’s all because it doesn’t have a manual. I know it’s about the driving experiencing but if that’s all it’s about then don’t talk about specs and relative pricing because other automatic cars will top the purists Porsche with ease.
Just drive one and you will get it. Gt3rs provides the comfort and track performance that the z06 overheat and viper can't be driven on the road like a gt3 rs. It's a all rounder that the other cars u mentioned can't match. It may not be the best in every category but 2 in each. And if U care about performance will give u the gt2rs and 918. If you want the manaul expierecne get the 997 gen or 991.2 gt3. All fast cars with manual
I am in the club! 27 and bought my first p car, 987.1 cayman. I drive it like it is supposed too, but I also pamper it with very frequent oil changes and hand washes. It has always been a dream of mine to DD a true pcar with the manual. I have my eyes on a gt3, not sure how to get there as far as price. I also want an air cooled model of course.
I totally agree with Tedward. Love ❤️ your car it's sounds as good as it looks. How did you become a Porsche lover ? For me it was at a car meet in Boston! I was so in love with the car that the owner spotted and asked me why I love he's car ! Well I spent a hour it seem like a hour I was hooked! I am addicted and I never want a cure ! Nice videos Tedward! Take care !
Unfortunately not but i want to acchiefe it in my life .. but look the new porsche gt2 rs is rwd and it launches form 0-100 in 2,8 sec and the position of the engine is a big factor . one of my friends father owns a 993 and it was the best driving experience i ever had . but nice video 👍
Hey Now...dont diss the 928. Back in the day even the 911 (except) turbo could touch it. 87 3rd in land speed record 2nd to Tessarossa and Countach in 3rd. I think the 993 are Beautiful. Let's get along Porsche family. Yes I'm biased...i love my 88 S4. Nice car
Do any sports car tire companys make tires that come with white lettering yet does anyone know?? Looks so sick! All the DIY ways seem too short term...then look smudgy. I have a white on white rims and would love to have the white lettering to pop. Just fantasizing about a Cayman lately which is what brought me here. As a japanese car guy and a sort of cheap skate, I am terrified of Porsche maintenance cost possibilities.
For performance oriented tires I've only seen the letters as an aftermarket project. AND if you're worried about cayman maintenance, you can lessen the risk by going with an 09+ (987.2) which will not have an IMS bearing. Many will say that the IMS isn't as big of a problem as it seems.. But even if it is just for your own sanity, buying a .2 might keep the stress levels down!
Tedward -Thanks for that advice. I have only just begun with the research on that type of thing so thats what I was looking for. 09+ sounds like a good idea! We shall see what my next bout of mid life crisis brings.
Early adopter! When it came out it felt like a forced addition to the gearbox. And maybe it is. I'm all for it for increased efficiency and lower RPM at speed. The biggest issue I took with it originally was a further separation from the GT cars, and that the Boxster/Cayman gearboxes felt more sporty than the 911's
No one should ever buy gas at that shell. There is another one a minute down the road that charges .20 less per gallon. Expensive vintage sign mark-up!
a GT3 for 140k? You must be joking. Yeah 140k for one without anything on it, few years old and second hand. 997's which is the old body and design are the budget ones. 991's aren't budget cars.
Why Porsches are the best? Look no further than the most gruelling motorsport race to get the idea: Le Mans Grand Prix. No other brand have won so many races across so many decades. They are no one trick pony. Their looks are unique, unlike all the modern super cars which are just copies of each other. The most badass of all is you can rally them like you said. That makes them the best looking rally cars, bar none. It's not another hatchback.
I like Porsche but I wouldn’t exactly call them cheap. I also don’t think I would go along with the gt3 as having “supercar” looks. There isn’t anything more expensive than a cheap Porsche when you try and buy an older one. They are amazing cars though you have to know what you are getting into. I will say the nice thing about the community is you see a lot more Porsche drivers actually using their cars, and not just sitting on them.
Porsche, with their ims faults bringing new meaning to engineering planned obsolescence into ones product at the factory the design stage. Porsche ims bearings, designed down to the lowest Price instead of up to the highest standard of quality. Remember the same folks designed your brakes, steering and suspension to the same penny pinching standard!

Ehh Ford did it with the Mustang
And Chevrolet with the corvette

I am happy to see such a young bunch of P car drivers. Got to keep that love for the German engineering going! Heidi

Great arguments... Loe the mixture of scenes.
Porsche engineered the rear engine until it worked. I love the GT4. So sweet. Also Porsche’s are also known for their reliability
But the GT4 is a mid engine, not a rear engine.

Spot on! Porsches are made for driving! Others, especially Italian ones, are made for show.
I'm loving my 981 Cayman S. I do want another 40hp from it, but I'll keep it stock until the CPO warranty runs out.
0:40 I'm drunk and this has me dying right now 🤣
I’m so glad my favorite car is considered a budget super car so I can actually afford it.
I'm in college but I want a Porsche so bad, they're beautiful
Great vid. I also loved that drop trop Lambo, that blew by him at 6:15. A true exotic felt the need to show up the 911 a little. Lol.
Turns out he has a couple turbos on that v10!

If a Porsche was a person, he'd be that sporty but modest guy nextdoor with a basecap on who easily beats all the cocky bodybuilders on the field 😆
This is an awesome video that I wish was longer
I just bought a 2016 cayenne and I love it !
Great video as always Tedward! I hope the vintage Porsche bubble pops soon because id love to seriously look for one.
for you i hope it pops...for me i hope it keeps going!
Ferrari Owners: Nice VW Beetles guys.
Porsche Owners: My car is not in the shop!
Cool vid. That Gallardo Spyder was nice as well.
Turns out that gallardo was a twin turbo build.. Sounded nasty!
Dude drives with the windows down! That's how you enjoy the vehicle fully.
wrong position of the engine ? i think its is the perfect location
hmmm you must be a fellow 911 owner

Going to be joining that Porsche owner/driver under 30 here pretty soon!
Congrats dood! What are you after?
The kid who owns the red 997 GT3 went to Bentley University

Porsche is a better race car than Ferrari. Lambo is the only competition they truly have.
Porsche is always the answer
Porsches are the best because they don't lose value like mad when they are driven like they're supposed to be.
Ted six speeds suck too. LOL The G50 is the greatest manual transmission ever made. The 1989 930 (911 Turbo) is the best air cooled 911 EVER.
can anyone tell me what is the cost of this Porsche?from what i googled its quite an expensive car lol almost 113000$
The 7 speed is not garbage. If you don't want to use 7th, don't. It is that simple. 991.1 owner here.
It's grown on me in the 2 years since this video.
@@TedwardDrives I've had mine since 2013. Love it!

To be honest I wish that it was a 6 speed, but on long trips it reduces the noise and gives excellent fuel economy for 400 hp.
what speed do you feel its most happy in 7th? its a very low gear so 65-70 is quite low. Does it encourage you to drive 85+ to find that sweet spot?
It’s a Volkswagen Beetle that will make you feel the speed
No one should ever buy gas at that shell. There is another one a minute down the road that charges .20 less per gallon. Expensive vintage sign mark-up!
my god, what camera do you use its so good
I love my Panamera GTS. NA V8.
This v8 is so under appreciated. It sounds incredible!
Hi Ted! Well done you are really a PORSCHE ethusiast! So am I 8-) How's the setup of your awesome sounding 964? Always a good ride - ENJOY! 8-)
What's the exhaust on that red GT3?
Used Panamara's are affordable!
Ted have you read magnus' book? If not you should!
IMS Bearing failure, Water Pump, etc. Best money pit!
Porsches are known for their reliability. Also who cares about reliability in a luxury sports car like this?
Nice BMW shirt at the end Tedward!
Can't be TOO biased lol
nice head garbanzo
bought my first Porsche 981 at 21
wow congrats! that's quite an accomplishment
I do kind of hate that there are too many trims for the 911
I will take the black 911 out law such a badass car.
Thanks man!!!
