No mention of Palace changing the asking price over and over for guehi and stringing Newcastle along. If Palace had said he is not for sale at any price Newcastle would have moved on
no but the last time we had such a messy window Ashley was recruiting from relegated teams every year - strange mitchell thinks the strategy that identified Burn, Bruno, Gordon, Isak & Botman as players to help was flawed? Within 3 months of the takeover they recruited trippier, burn, bruno & wood to address issues to survive
@@andrewharrison7767 It has been flawed though because on the other side of the coin of signing players, we have been horrible sellers. Everyone we're looking to offload gets loaned out and we've just had to terminate Fraser's contract to finally get him off the books. Hayden meanwhile is still on the books and didn't even get a loan move this summer and Lewis has been loaned off to Brazil.
@@TheNextStep851 which goes beyond the takeover, so nothing to do with the last plan which was being criticized, the same recruitment policy that found (and profited on) Minteh. All 4 of our most sellable players (bruno, botman, isac & gordon) would sell for significant profit if needed, but having £65 M+ to spend doesn't explain Mitchell's failing move on from guehi early enough, or being too late bidding for elanga - All of the dead wood were signed with survival the goal, when Cashley regularly signed from relegated teams, or free contracts. Between Hayden Fraser & lewis, their wages wouldn't exceed £125,000 a week - their lack of sell on isn't why we only bought in keepers, or Osula after Mitchel joined us
@@TheNextStep851 as for 'horrible sellers' blame the contracts given under Ashley - or the player's refusal to drop leagues. You can't sell if there's nobody paying our asking price for Miggy - the americans offered half our asking price. After that, loaning them out at least covers some of their wages
@@andrewharrison7767 A lot of that might be true but we had the opportunity to sell Trippier and Wilson and didn't take it. Selling them for half price is better than getting no fee at all. It gets all of their wages off the books. Hayden and Lewis will leave on free transfers, and we'll struggle to sell Targett who is nowhere near first choice at left back.
Paul Mitchell comes across so badly here. Blaming everyone but himself for a really poor transfer window. Can't in a million years blame the previous strategy thar signed isak Bruno gordon to name others for low fees. This guy thinks we're stupid. Very unimpressed 😢
Mitchells not fit for purpose was that based upon PSR he can’t spend spend spend without selling. That was all he meant. And he came in and tried to deliver targets agreed before he joined. Jury out on him but it’s pretty obvious stuff.
Eddie Howe said in his press conferences that he wasn’t directly involved in transfers and was solely focused on managing the team and let others sort that out. So either Howe is lying and trying to deflect the question or Mitchell is lying and trying to throw Howe under the bus and making him sound awkward and stubborn. Either way, it’s a complete mess.
Howe is a liar. We were only linked with average British players all summer. The guy wanted to spend £100m on Marc Guehi and James Trafford. He offered £45m for Joe Gomez and wanted to sign Kalvin Phillips in January. The bloke has to go

Agree totally, he looks like a Mitchell and talks the same, but it should have been said in a board meeting, nit in front of Journos. Zero respect to him
Jordan basically takes the things being discussed by supporters about a week late and brings them up like they're his insights. Yes, we had an abysmal window- we've been talking about this for while. It was a complete mess. We lost two great prospects and bought Kelly (a backup defender) on a free, two backup keepers and a striker that's never scored a goal. This isn't some great insight from Simon Jordan!
The only issue here I see is the over-inflated ego of a person at a football club who should be locked in a cupboard to do his job. Got no interest in listening to a Sporting Director…… got nothing I want to hear. Identify players, secure them….nothing more required
A farcical episode. Perhaps if they had managed at least to qualify for the Europa League, or managed to win a trophy last season, the outcome may have been different?
@@JM-1Le-d9p Yes, not a bad achievement. I was just wondering if for example Newcastle had qualified for the CL again, Guehi may have found them a more attractive proposition and pushed for a transfer, who knows? (Anyway, I am a Newcastle supporter).

Loves to take digs at Newcastle this specky cont
Frankly, Jordan’s record as an owner was, to put it mildly, not the best. I quite like listening to some of what he says, but IMHO the rest is opinionated tosh.
Newcastle will not be held to random by small town clubs
Eddie & Mitch have consciously uncoupled 😂😂😂
Mister Jordan speaking the realistic truth again.
Palace wanted X amount. Newcastle said we're not paying X amount but will pay Y amount. Palace said no. End of story.
Also who tf is Gairy?? Isn't this man supposed to be a die-hard fan and yet doesn't know how to pronounce the name of their star player?
That’s not end of story at all. Newcastle kept meeting Palace’s asking price but then Palace kept moving the goalposts.
It was obvious to everyone that they were mugging Newcastle off. Everyone except Paul Mitchell.
"Mitch, as he's known" 😂😂😂😂
Marc Gairy.
Guehi is overrated and has been Gareth'ed to play sideways and backwards and I'm glad we didn't get him. We don't need him, Dan Burn now playing at CB now that we have proper LB's has been outstanding, couple of good signings in Jan and watch Eddie "overachieve" again and get us champions league while all the other clubs around us struggle playing twice a week in the crappy euro leagues
Jim White is such a waste of space. Palace didn't want to sell him, end of. In fact if they HAD sold him at the price they were offered I'd been mad as hell because he's not worth anywhere near it. Talksport looking for headlines where there are none as usual.
3 days running he's been bleating on , the clown is like a stuck record.
Excellant analysis 🙂
Scary how misinformed this entire conversation is. Simon should reserve opinion before understanding the situation
Newcastle's recruitment since the takeover has been good. Botman, Guimares, Isak, Trippier, Burn, Gordon.... Been unlucky with Barnes & Tonali. Even Wood was a great signing. One of the few clubs where you can't really criticise the recruitment policy
How does Jordan find it so hard to pronounce his name
Why would I care what a school dinner lady thinks
a need to give my heed a wobble as i keep agreeing with simon lol
Why would we pay 70mill for geuhi 😂 people try over price players to us. We done alright. We didn’t really need anyone with the strength we have in the midfield now with tonali & Bruno joelinton harvey barnes isak Gordon.
Guehi is primarily a defender, not a midfielder.
Schar sending off and Anderson being sold blew the deal out of the water unless crazy money was involved... Disappointing but hey ho the club is bigger than any player or manager come to that
Newcastle should have spent the money on buying Chelsea and Man Citys accountants and lawyers you'll never win anything without those you think the top 6 could win anything without accountants and lawyers to circumvent the rules.
Paul Mitchell has already been speaking about it and talking common sense. Simon put palace in a tonne of debt and done nothing since so he’s the last person to talk about strategy and spending
PIF is an investment fund, they will be happy to keep Newcastle as mid/Europa level team.
TalkSport always hating on Newcastle nothing new.

They going to hate us more when we do the Chelsea and give PSR and FFP the middle finger wait then I say it a good thing ha ha it s a good look for these clowns

@Cedisdead Surprise ? they own most of stock exchange lol because this government is useless and takes grants from them in Billions. No one liked the Russian Abramovich either. And last year invested in the hotel projects . They just fooling mans like you at home that hasn't got a clue because people like you think the media tells it like it is.
Man I'm glad Chelsea is in this state
If you finish 10th this season everyone's going to Diss you like mad. And I hope that happens.
Meh. We got a stronger squad than last year and we have good players like Schär and Krafu at the RCB position. HOWAY THE LADS :D
Losing Anderson and Minteh has weakened us not strengthened.
@@kevinwilliams1602 I would like us to keep both. But Minteh didn't play for us so that can't be weaken us since last season. We have a bigger squad now and better bench options. Better option with Kelly att LB and 3rd striker option with talented Will Osula. And having Tonali and Willock back makes our midfelt much better. We also have Targett and Pop back. Joelinton and Trippier also hade a lot of injuries last season but are back now. Howay Kev!
Guehi tends to be used, and prefers to play, in the LCB position.
@@sebbaninho Ah, yes Osula, has never scored a goal in the PL, I believe his career total is 2. Not good for a supposed CF is it. As for Minteh, he is tearing it up at Brighton, so he would have been our ready made RW, so yes we are weaker. Tripps isn't the player he was a couple of years ago. Willock is injured. yet again as is Miley, so we have 4 fit midfielders.
@@kevinwilliams1602 Well Osula played for the awfully bad Sheffield side last season. He nearly scored a good goal in the friendly against champions league side Girona in the friendly. He also recently scored for the danish u21 in the qualifying for the euros. Clearly he's talented.
And ops, Willock wasn't Injured. So we have Bruno, Joelinton, Longstaff, Tonali + Willock = 5. Lewis Hall also can play in the CM-position if needed. =6.
We never had Minteh in our squad so we can't be weaker when we haven't lost a player we had last season.
But we're standing more still with our squad. Better depth, maybe not better starting 11. By standing still we are risking going slightly backwards. We se how our better bench have made difference in almost every game so far this season. This is much better than last season.
Trippier has clearly a place in the team and important with his leadership. He did 10 assists last season and was solid in the euros this summer. You can also argo he's been better than Livramento these recent games.
Hating on Newcastle again, can I just remind them they’ve won 3 games and drawn 1 out of 4

Newcastle cannot do what Chelsea & Man City did over the last few decades. They were taking over from a much weaker position squad -wise
Exactly
With a thousand roadblocks now installed.
@@archivalhorror At least your chairman doesn't have to pay £1M for a season ticket to his own club like Abramovich did lol
Newcastle gotta do it the honest way, but it will taste much sweeter
Eddy clearly says hes not in the loop the dodge press questions and i think we were right to pursue a defender as the data suggests we scored enough goals to qualify for top 4 but we conceeded to much there for need to strengthen our defense
Wow twice in one week Jordans tirade against Newcastle continues. No Newcastle fans are pointing the finger at Ashley for us not signing a "superstar" player.
All 4 of our most sellable players (bruno, botman, isac & gordon) would sell for significant profit if needed, but having £65 M+ to spend doesn't explain Mitchell's failing move on from guehi early enough, or being too late bidding for elanga
- All of the dead wood were signed with survival the goal, when Cashley regularly signed from relegated teams, or free contracts.
4:01 “eddie made a rod for his own back” imagine he thought nah i dont want champions league because i dont want to make a rod for my own back 😂
Paul Mitchell comes across so badly here.

Newcastles previous policy led to them buying a midfielder that was immediately banned for 10 months and selling perhaps their best young prospects for 70m to stay on the right side of PSR. Jordan is a moron.
That was hardly their fault tbf. Tonali woujd have been a fantastic acquisition if he hadn't come with a dark little secret.... And he might still be yet. PSR rules are a joke and need to be rid of.

PSR is killing football in the UK, never before has so much young talent left the PL, clubs like Newcastle and Villa have no chance. Villa qualify for the CL then have to sell top players to avoid points deductions. Its a house of cards
they whige if u spend and if you dont carnt win with these cocneys
Why can't Simon say Guehi?
Mitchell , Is that the same scouting Network your criticising that signed Bruno, Isak, Gordon, Barnes, Tonali, Burn, Liveremento, Trippier, Hall, Botman, all Superb players..is that the same scouting network you are talking about ? yes ? Yes I think it is. Not fit for purpose you say ? Go do one Mitchell . You will have upset Eddie with your comments to the media ..Deflecting blame from yourself in a Job you were brought into do and are getting paid to do from the off..Pull the other one .
Agree totally, he looks like a Mitchell and talks the same, but it should have been said in a board meeting, nit in front of Journos. Zero respect to him
He was having a dig at Ashworth not Amanda Staveley
Jordan basically takes the things being discussed by supporters about a week late and brings them up like they're his insights. Yes, we had an abysmal window- we've been talking about this for while. It was a complete mess. We lost two great prospects and bought Kelly (a backup defender) on a free, two backup keepers and a striker that's never scored a goal.
This isn't some great insight from Simon Jordan!
I blame VAR & Greggs😂
The only issue here I see is the over-inflated ego of a person at a football club who should be locked in a cupboard to do his job. Got no interest in listening to a Sporting Director…… got nothing I want to hear. Identify players, secure them….nothing more required
He reads one section of a 90 min interview and makes a bull story about it.
amazing they say newcastle are not a big club but expect clubs to roll over and sell their players to them which is it simon
Crystal palace it back fired on them greedy club get it right jordan
They will never get a £70m offer again lol
It hasn't backfired on Palace. They are more than happy to keep him, and aren't in a financial position where they have to sell.
Mitchell has probably told Eddie that 100% we'll get Guehi so Eddie's believed him and not even thought about other targets.
Apparently they were playing like looking at options outseide the PL Eddie likes PL players that might be the reason
Big fan base… small club
A farcical episode. Perhaps if they had managed at least to qualify for the Europa League, or managed to win a trophy last season, the outcome may have been different?
Finished 7th to be fair
@@JM-1Le-d9p Yes, not a bad achievement. I was just wondering if for example Newcastle had qualified for the CL again, Guehi may have found them a more attractive proposition and pushed for a transfer, who knows? (Anyway, I am a Newcastle supporter).

Nobody knows the full story on why this didnt happen, doesnt stop jordan speaking like he was in the meetings. Absolute balloon of a man
Opened this to read the comments but I had to turn the volume down so as not to hear Jordan's annoying voice. Never have so many (often grammatically incongruous) words been used to say so little.
Jordan is hiding the facts here and protecting Palace and Parrish..fact if the deal was all agreed at £65 million with £5 million add ons and in the last 3 hours Parrish decided to move the goalposts and added another £5 million on. fact So..Not anyones fault at Newcastle United.
Used to think Jordon was interesting but he's just become jarring to listen to. Hes not alone, no-one actually talks about the football anymore.
What a gonk 🤣
I don’t think you guys at Talk Sport really understand what’s happening at Newcastle now.
The heart has gone from the club, fans and team since Amanda a Co left. There is a void which only Amanda can fill. We are being ran by grey suits now and there is no colour left. She was our saviour from the awful Ashley era and she and her husband are a great big miss.
Much love for Amanda and co but calm down 😂
Gairy Glitter?
We have one of the best forwards in the league . the 2 best wingers, the best midfield , a top class Goalkeeper, a decent defence With a top class Center back in Botman..and a classy centre back in Schar. I think anyone would agree that our scouting network has been first class and Mitchell comes in and criticises it all..all that hard work ! Eddies Brother is going to be livid.
It seems these days every man and his dog are worried, concerned, puzzled and can't get their heads around Newcastle United, apart of course from the people directly involved within the club and about 95% of the fan base?? We are unbeaten in the league, currently sitting 5th, and have knocked a premier league club out of the cup, having been drawn away for the 8th consecutive time. They are trying to create problems where there are clearly none. All anybody at the club is guilty of doing is underestimating Parrish's stupidity.
This guy just hates newcastle.
No need to watch this
Simon hears a 10th of the story and runs with it until he stumbles on a way to prop himself as the quintessential club owner
