Guys I have worked day and night on a 11-0-0 formation. In this formation 5 players sit on the remaining 6 player shoulders and they cover the goal completely, thus leaving no room for the ball to go in. This formation guarantees a nil nil in all games. Giving solid 38 points to the team and keeping it safe from relegation.

Perhaps Fabian Hurzeler's most interesting attribute is his willingness to adapt and learn. He didn't completely overhaul Roberto DeZerbi's Brighton system with the St. Pauli one, instead he put his own tweaks and flair to Brighton's 3ATB last season. The inverted wingback is more common under Hurzeler but the buildup is between 3ATB and 4ATB, just like RDZ last season. Hurzeler uses a more advanced CM instead of a RDZ double DM pivot as well.

You solved the basic problems posed in the Harry Enfield documentary Arsenal 1933 versus Liverpool 1991. Finally you came up with a way to beat the tactic of gluing the ball to a players foot.

  • @facelesscsgo4134
    @facelesscsgo4134 2 месяца назад +13

First, you need specific players. Second, you will need a long bench for the season. The amount of running some of the players do is huge. It's not a tactic for every club, but for a team ranked around 20th to 10th position, it is a legitimate way to compete for 50-60% of the points. I like aggressive football with high pressure and midfielders who can cover wide and long distances, but for a season with 50+ games, it's tough. 4-4-2 diamond is totally different tactic but at the same time you need CM who can cover on flangs and help RB and LB in Def game. + you will need exceptional RB and LB who can really play strong 1 on 1 and in the same time who can cover the whole flang in both phases of the game.

I'm not sure I know a lot about this, so I would appreciate it if you could provide me with more information. I realize I made a small mistake in my earlier message: I meant to say, "At the same time, you need two central midfielders who can cover the flanks." I was referring to the two midfielders on the sides of the diamond shape. Players like Seedorf, Lampard, and a young Gerrard were capable of this, and Henderson was an excellent option for this type of game. Please, I'd love to hear more from you! ;)

8:50 is an interesting strategic concept that I didn't even think about being used in football. I am a Rocket League player and we have a similar concept (although not highly spoken about) that many pros made use of instinctively on their come-up during the COVID and preCOVID era called a "half-turn", which basically does the same thing.
NOTE: Half-turn is distinctly different from a half-flip. A half-turn is entirely a positional feature that allows for more effective cutting, defending, and counters. While half-flip is a bailout mechanic for poor position or unexpected clears that is unsurprisingly used less the higher level you get.

As an extra, they also took Ferdi. The best ball-carrying full-back you've ever seen. I am a Fenerbahçe fan and throughout the season I watched him make excellent plays with playmaker wings like Tadic. I think they will be very compatible with Mitoma. But if there is a dribbling winger in front of him, his usefulness decreases. Because they're trying to use the same half space corridor

We're Dutch and he loved total football.
We set up as a 2-3-5. And basically every other team was 4-4-2.
We won every game all year by at least 5 goals. Something like 25 games.
I hardly remember the ball ever being in our own half all year. I think our goalie took like 10 shots against all year.
We just smothered them in their own end, nobody had an answer to our strategy.
Everyone hated us. Lol. The league commissioner tried all year to remove our speedy players trying to handicap us, still didnt work. Lol

I love this. I don't much about the game of European football so videos like this give me ideas when I'm playing FM because I love innovations in tactics in sports.
You gave a very good breakdown and explanation of what the tactic is and while listening to the video I would pause and see how FM can do it. Some of things I couldn't figure out how to do. That could be either the limitation of the current interface or something that would have to happen by the players themselves and that's where their ratings come into play. Vision, Anticipation, Positioning, Decisions and the mobility ratings (Pace, Acceleration, Agility, Balance) in particular strike me as key for pulling this kind of thing off. Have to read the play, know where to be, and of course be able to get there.
One thing in particular I would love to do is the whole "face vertically" you described for the back line. I don't know what that would be in FM terms, or would it be simulated by going High Defensive Line, Drop Off More, and then their acceleration, agility, and balance ratings? But then that would seem to run counter to the "catch them offside", which would seem to imply Step Up More defensive instruction?
Would love some thoughts from more experienced FM'ers on how to emulate this situation especially with the defensive line behavior.

japan also does that since the last few years. in the asian cup, friendlies etc.
307/127 and other similar structure with a very long line of 6-8 and with the defenders very high as midfielders.
the up and down and consistantly movement from the 7 up top is were all the passing lines are.
ofc only against a low block or teams that dont press much like Myanmar etc

The WM formation has been used since 1920's... it made a comeback over the last 10 years or so because teams started high pressing. The WM creates dilemmas because if you press the back you need numbers which then leaves the midfield open and a simple direct ball or a drive out of defense can begin an attack. Or if they choose not to press then you'll control the game against their low block.

Is it just me? Or does this seem like how Erik Ten Hag wants Manchester United to play with a fully fit squad (i.e. when Yoro is back, with Martinez and De Ligt either side of him)? This curiously make some sense why the middle of the park was always empty last season...

For this to work you need incredibly good players who know positioning intimately, while also have very high endurance and speed.
If you have that, his overload tactics could be the future.

Hello, I am a Galatasaray fan from Turkey. I can say that our coach Okan Buruk is trying to make the team play like this, but he has not been able to do it in terms of play yet. I would be very happy if you could make a video for this tactic of Okan Buruk.
