You almost have it correct. It ONLY saves the KERNEL. It does not save running programs. Any programs running will have to be restarted either by the registry run function, the startup menu, or the operator. If you want to save the running programs you must do a hibernate or sleep, which doesn't actually save them it just keeps memory alive. That will be a problem if power fails.

I think You're confusing the hibernation feature with shutdown feature. While hibernation saves running programs and kernel, shutdown only saves the kernel.

    can i ask the following:
    1. prolong press on the power button (10sec)?
    2. unplug the power?
Thanks, you explain stuff better than the teacher in computer class

If your computer is not meant to work 24/7 as a server, your HD computer will colapse in half the time you should be using it, so yes, you should restart it and then shut it down

What if you disable fast startup?

This is a major flaw, what happens when something prevents you from restarting

Do you mean if a program prevents restart? If this happens Ctrl,Alt,Del and when clicking Restart hold Shift.

Question: If you start from the BIOS, I assume that would clean the same as a restart would. Is that correct?

Good idea. Will gather all the actual facts and data before posting this as force-shutdown is the root cause of so many problems. Many thanks for suggestion. All best. Barry.

When you are using SSD shutdown is better for a pristine state.
