SUMMARY:
- Opening new tabs is an action that you do countless times during the day. Instead of doing it manually with your mouse, you can simply press “ctrl” and the letter T and a new tab will open.
- You can type your problem into the Google search bar and read what Microsoft or the various tech forums have to tell you.
- If you’re traveling abroad and you need to see how much money you will get with the exchange, you can simply write down the amount of money and the currencies of the country where you’re traveling.
- When your laptop is on airplane mode it means that many features, like your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, are disabled. This takes some pressure off your battery and allows it to charge faster than if operating normally.
- You can simply push “alt” and then left click on an image and it will be automatically saved on your computer in your Downloads folder.
- There are various ways that can hide your IP address and make your browsing invisible. You need to install a good VPN on your internet browser so that it changes your real location.
- Most computers have the night shift mode, which adjusts the brightness during the night.
- If you are having problems with your computer’s speed, it might be the fact that your desktop is full of icons. Instead of having a folder for every little thing on your desktop, you can create one folder and organize everything in there.
- If you don’t just want to change your password, but also find out who the thief (or thieves) are, then you can download Who Is on My Wi-Fi and maybe go confront them.
- Deleting files and then emptying the recycling bin can prove to be very frustrating. What you can do is download Recuva, which is the top program to recover permanently deleted files.
-Millions of people get hacked every day and you might be one of them at some point. Seeing your antivirus being turned off is one of the first serious signs.
- Another tremendously useful shortcut is the one that exits your web browser. In this case, you press “ctrl” and then the letter Q.
- When combining the “ctrl” key and the letter I there are various things that can happen in a total of 147 different programs. However, the most ordinary and common use of the combo is to turn text in Word and other text editing programs from normal style into italics.

Shortcut
Really great ideas , hope there will be many more in the future , thanks so much .
THEY FORGOT THE FOLLOWING: 1) center - CONTROL E; 2) bold - CONTROL B; 3) underline - CONTROL U; 4) close your word, powerpoint, excel documents - CONTROL W; 5) print document - CONTROL P; 6) change language (if you have 2 or more languages on your computer - ALT + SHIFT (HOLD ALT THEN PRESS SHIFT). These are the shortcuts I use all the time. Hope this helps. Almost forgot some very import computer shortcuts: CONTROL +Z - Undo previously typed work; CONTROL + C - copy highlighted work; CONTROL +V - past copied work. I use this to copy lengthy paragraphs into google translate, among other things. However, remember, if you have already "saved" your work and try to go back to "undo", it won't work.

wow, 4 years later, still sounds new and fresh highly informative !! why didn't i knew this before !!!!!!!
I knew some of them but only 3-4. I'll try to use the other ones soon. Thank you.
Nice! I learned a lot. I’ll probably forget most of it, but I’ll definitely try them out!
The one I found most useful that wasn't mentioned here, as somebody who watched lots of anime was Ctrl + W . It closes the new tab that is usually a pop up ad, this way you don't need to move the mouse 7 million times between the play button and X. Just keep the mouse on the play and press if a new tab opens Ctrl + W. Saved me so many annoying seconds lol 😆
Thank you, I passed that tip on to my daughter who loves anime.
@@louisegogel7973 glad I could help 😁

This was much better than the usual list of shortcuts. It was quite useful.
Great stuff! I use a PC due to that is what I started on and have continued. Macs seem to be too expensive also.
Thank you for this as I found your help useful.

I will admit, this video did remind me to clear up my desktop. Removed like 15-20% of what I had, looks so much better now.
While watching the first trick I discovered a new trick so what happend was I was gonna press Ctrl + T but accidentally pressed Ctrl + R which led me to discover a new trick which was if you press Ctrl + R the page reloads.
It's not a new trick many of us know that.. But that is new trick for you as you didn't know that trick before...!!😇😇
6:02 this might also happen after a short time. Windows always writes things on the hard disk, so a even after a few seconds there is a chance that the file was already overwritten.
I've noticed that too. Because of that, I've not always been able to seen every file that's been deleted. Sigh.
Police forensics can bring back all deleted files surely, so they can't be totally lost
@@wanderer299a not true, it only works sometimes. Most of the time only a part of the deleted files can be recovered. CSI is not reality.
A true trick would be to know, that if you cannot update your windows computer, it might be because there is too much stuff in its update cashe. So if you clean it out, which you can probably use windows cleaner for (I use CC cleaner), then you can update again. You need to clean one thing at a time, else it will not work.
@@rfvtgbzhn Actually with real hard drives it _is_ true, albeit a tad expensive. Due to wear of the head actuating mechanism, the positioning of the head from the spindle varies, so a very much narrower head can often discriminate between several tracks on logically the same cylinder. Obviously this requires removing the platter from the drive and placing it in a purpose-built and very expensive drive mechanism. Obviously solid state drives are not vulnerable to this insecurity.
Windows+D minimizes all open windows and goes to desktop.

Press & hold [windows]+D.
hold shift + left/right arrows to select/highlight texts letter by letter, (hold ctrl as well to mark word by word). You can also mark line by line by pressing shift and up/down arrows.
Ctrl + Enter to change page in Word
Shift + Enter for new line without making a paragraph. (Not leaving/ignoring the spacing between the two lines)

Try windows logo + tab
Some of these I would never use, but some are quite useful. As for the Ctrl-T shortcut, I think what was said here really depends on how we browse. I personally do not like a lot of tabs in my browsing. I try to keep it clean and simple. This works well for me, but I understand it may not be OK for others. I just don't like having too many tabs.
Yup! I tend to have the _opposite_ problem-too many tabs because clicking links opens a new tab. Not mentioned here is the power of keyboard shortcuts under the left hand and mousing with the right combined.
just the opposite. 6 pinned and 9 others open at the moment. when all are view then will be down to 6 + maybe one or two. Just have not had a bit of time to look at the non-pinned so far the past couple days. Most are related to digital imaging programs I use.
Do Control W it will delete that tab
That what he said find out who’s using your Wi-Fi and confront that person is not necessary just change your routers default password wpa3 if your router supports it or just go with wpa2 aes this would make it extremely difficult for anyone to steal your Wi-Fi.
i love having 1000 tabs open
ctrl+a: select all
ctrl+n: new window
ctrl+c: copy
ctrl+v: paste
ctrl+s: save
ctrl+p: print
ctrl+shift+q+q: log out
ctrl+w: delete tab
ctrl+shift+w: delete window
I love all these things that didn't know !
I knew #1 but also if you hold the "control" key and click a link will open that link in a new tab. Holding "shift" will open a new browser window. Putting phones in Airplane mode should do the same. I never thought of that trick. Lesson learned. Thanks!
using the wheel by pressing it does the same as Ctrl + click on the link or also use R mouse the link and choose open in new tab.

Wish that it were that easy with Android. (Yes, I know there's a way, but since I learned the same thing first in Windows, I have to take a moment to remember how with Android.

"Ask Google about any problem you're facing..."
Which would work well IF the user knows how to properly phrase the problem. I may not know the correct terminology for various issues that have simple solutions -- if only I knew a concise, accurate way to state the issue.

For PC, I usually use alt+f4 instead of ctrl+Q to close applications
Alt-F4 actually can do several different things - close a Window or close an App or logout - an overloading which annoys me when using Windows. I prefer using Command W to close a window but not risk quitting the App - and Command Q to quit the app without risking logging out.
As a blind computer user I use these commands regularly. I am totally dependent on them.
But how would you see to use them?

No. 4 - downloading photos your way works for some people. For others (like myself) who need or want to "credit" the source later with dates, locations, etc., it is better to right click before saving. Important details should be added at the SAME TIME the image is saved for future reference. Just saying. Otherwise, ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO from BRIGHT SIDE.
Nice after 30 plus years on a PC I learned a few things
Thank you! Helpful!!
A Wonderful and Helpful video! Have you folks made a similar video for Chromebooks? Thanks.
for Mac users, Command+space opens spotlight search, NOT Siri. most MacBooks set "hold command" as your Siri shortcut

however one of my favorite ones i discovered several years ago is the print screen.

Few Keyboard shortcuts added below...
Moving junk files in Desktop to a Folder in desktop won't save anything,
It is not only the number of files that reduces performance , it's the size of files,
So move them to any Drive instead of C Drive,
If you want it on your Desktop, create a shortcut.
Because Desktop is a limited storage area allocated from C Drive.
The folders that mainly take up your C Drive space are : Desktop & Downloads.
Move junk files to other Drives from these folders , so that your PC will run faster.
Few Shortcuts :
Alt + Tab : Switches between currently opened windows (eg:Chrome,Notepad)
Ctrl + Tab : Switches between Browser Tabs also works with applications let you open multiple tabs at once like Photoshop, Acrobat Reader etc.
Shift + Ctrl + Tab : Same as Ctrl + Tab but in reverse Direction.
Home: (Home key in keyboard) Moves Cursor to the beginning of the line;
End: (End key in keyboard) Moves Cursor to the end of the line;
Shift + Arrow keys : Selects text from current cursor position to the direction of arrow key you pressed.
Shift + Home : Selects text from current cursor position to beginning of line.
Shift + End : Selects text from current cursor position to end of line.
Alt + F4 : exit an Application, Works on almost all Applications except Turbo C++ etc
Nice sharing apu
I use PC. I purchased my first computer in 1978 and started writing accounting programs when I had to enter a program via keyboard every time I turned it on. Soon cassette recorders allowed me to actually save a program up to 11 lines reliably. After that disk drives came along and I could get serious about writing much longer programs. I used DOS and learned many keyboard shortcuts still used today by Windows operating systems (which came largely from DOS). I knew others who preferred Macs way back then but their keyboards did not have a numeric keypad which I considered mandatory for accounting type input. Therefore I never purchased a Mac for serious use.
Need alert
I like that last line: "Therefore I never purchased a Mac for serious use.
" which sums it up well.
To me, anybody who buys an Apple computer doesn't do any serious computing. They just have it to show how much money they can waste!
@@christopherknee5756 I know what you mean. In more recent times, I travelled to different companies to tutor or enter financial information using Quickbooks software. The version they had for Mac was terrible which exemplifies the waste.
I learned a lot of keyboard tricks way earlier, I ran a computer that had win95 for a few months without a mouse. I had a better computer with windows 98 on it so I didn't use it as much. The shortcuts haven't changed in years.
I loved win 98 2nd edition
Are you old enough to remember doing it on DOS? LOL
I wish we had a Siri and a printer so then we can always get an A
one I learnt recently, was to access Emojis on my PC keyboard, press the Windows icon + the full stop key and you can see a selection of Emojis

Very helpful thank you
Did I just hear that removing desktop icons will instantly speed up your computer??? hahahahahaha
These are just a few of the things that I have found while using my Mac. These are the ones I use the most.
On a MAC;
Command C = Copy
Command X = Clear (Highlighted text)
Command V = Paste
Command W = Closes Tab that you are on
Command A = Highlight All
Command R = Return to previous or Back
Command D = Bookmark page
Command Z = Undo
Shift+Option+Arrow keys skips the whole word and and not just the letter (Much faster when correcting mistakes when not using the mouse or for quicker highlighting for copy and paste
On RUclips with a MAC
L = Fast Forward 10 seconds
J = Rewind 10 seconds
Spacebar = Pause or unpause
I think there is also a 5 second fast forward and rewind but I can't remember what they are.
with the RUclips on mac those work on windows As well well for me at least and k is also to pause and unpause. you can go into settings, i think, and change it from 10 seconds to 5 seconds.
THANKS! now i know a about PC even more...
