Lachlan and I decided to drill some holes right before the muffler

For people thinking this affects the environment greater, it doesn't. He drilled after the catalytic converter, and before the muffler. The muffler only "muffles" the sound. Basically the exhaust is the exact same emissions level as before just louder. The only danger is potentially rust and exhaust fumes in the car.
So it wont leak right
@@juancena7636 not unless you have an issue with your cats themselves, such this won’t cause.
He's polluting the environment inside his vehicle because now the exhaust doesn't go all the way to the tailpipe it flows up into the trunk

Exactly, in my case I dont want to much welding on the pipe aldo. Drill some holes and cover them with a pipe clamp when You want to goback.
Got the same plan here. I dont need it too loud, dont wanna waste money and time for an electric valve also. Just drill some holes until the volume is right and can go back to original with just a pipe clamp.
Nothing JB weld can’t fix
Then its valved lol you just have to have a drill to open and close the valves

For anyone wondering, I did this to my 1994 MJ triton since you can’t get decent aftermarket mufflers that will fit. Putting 5 3/8 inch holes, and it is LOUD. it’s not extremely obnoxious, but you’ll hear it a block away no issues, and it created a lot of back fire when you’re at higher speeds and revs, but I love it, just got to really crank the music to hear it lol.
I came for a similar comment for my 96 MJ but I didn't think I'd be so spoiled haha👌
Also, where did you drill? Asking for a mate
I was too impatient for your reply for my fully sick new mod so I just sent the cunt 5 times with a 5mm bit just before the muffler😅👌
If anyone else is considering doing it, I suggest to drill one hole at a time and go for a drive until you get the best flavour. I didn't care and just sent it as my exhaust is going to get replaced soon anyway😂
@YoaminYashed yeah bro I'm going to give it a go because I am also replacing mine soon so why not
Really should of explained to the less Informed that the drilling needs to be made after the catalytic convertor, just before the muffler and nowhere around or before the oxygen sensor. And then explained why. You can't smell those gases before they hit the convertor and can be potentially life threatening or cause serious illness if not drilled correctly.
Hey Chris, do you reckon an old 1993 hilux would have these sensors? If not, should I be doing this for my own good. Also side note will this damage the underside of my truck as the exhaust may be coming out prematurely through those holes and hitting the underside. Thanks
@@danielseeto9622 Honestly buddy I'm not sure of the sensor placement on a 93 hilux. Should be able to locate on google, however. As long as you have holes drilled facing the ground you should be fine and avoid underside damage. Maybe some long term rust damage if anything, which is not ideal and keep in mind doing so will most likely fail an inspection. As for doing this for your own good, its completely up to you. Reasonably safe if done right. Just make sure you check for the sensor first, drilling before it or around it will have serious repercussions regarding your MAF. MAF readings that get sent to the ECU will be completely incorrect. The ECU will compensate the increased amount of air with extra fuel and then your in trouble. As for if you should be doing this for your own good... That's purely for you to decide based on the pro's and con's. IMO - con's outweigh the pro's.
@@chrisking4411 thanks for going into more detail, I appreciate that
it’s really not that difficult to just drill in between the muffler and the cat lol … there’s also a resonator in between the cat is like at the top of your exhaust
This is not dumb, it works!! After the Borla exhaust I bought for my 2005 mustang GT was too quiet, I did this mod exactly and it sounded amazing I got compliments on it all the time! Then, I also did it to my next vehicle, a j k Wrangler... And while it wasn't as good as the mustang, it still sounded very good and extremely similar to the aftermarket exhausts I heard for the Wrangler. Now, I recently did it 2 mi 2015 Mazda CX-5, and again the results have been excellent. If I had the bread to buy inexpensive cat back I would certainly do so, but on a tight budget this works really well and does not affect power or fuel efficiency, at least not that I have noticed in my pretty extensive research lol. I started off with drilling one small hole literally just before the muffler flange, then I drilled that one out larger, to about 1/8 inch I think. The mustang was dual exhaust, so I did this on both sidesmustang was dual exhaust, so I did this on bowl sides, and ended up with about 5 holes on each side LOL. For the Jeep and Mazda, I only drilled out a couple holes. If you do this be aware, you can always make it louder, but each hole increases the sound, and you can't undrill lol (although u could plug it). People can say what they want, but everyone loved the sound of the Mustang, especially after I added intake and a tuner. Once I added those mods, the thing ripped big time! It was basically a very loud version of the Borla. On the other two cars, just having couple smaller holes did the job, making them sound aggressive, but on the milder side. Right now my CX-5 is not as loud as say the loudest corksport available for the CX5.
How many years have you been using this upgrade? Has it not damaged anything? The holes kinda change the way the exhausts rotate inside the exhaust pipe. Has the car started to backfire? I need to know this :P
@@patrikrusinko my bmw has 2 pipes and each one has 8holes and theres no popping. Just gave my car a nice exhaust it's nothing that will get u pulled over cuz it's not as loud a muffler delete

What are the bowls on the mustang I wanna do mine
Why r people saying its an exhaust leak or blown exhaust? Im somewhat concerned if i should do this to my catbacks on my stang or not. I really want to make it louder cause right now its just medium loud. Doing this would be nice to cause its free and i dont need to spend money. How would thjs cause exhaust leakage??? Like how is this in any way different then a muffler delete??? of course there would be leakage here and there but its not excessive. Plus u can drill more and larger holes with larger sizes and its practically the exact same and your muffler and tips are just there for aesthetics
pro tip. take the exhaust pipe off and put few holes from the upper side on it. that way when you go to yearly check they wont be able to see it but you will have it permanently louder
