The reality here is I cut my muffler off, it sounded bad ass, I didnt give a fuck, then I got dual pipes straight out the back. It became quite then. Either way it didnt hurt the truck, and theres videos proving having wider pipes, more airflow etc allows the engine to move more air and make more power.
I tried this drilling hole method and did a bunch on the rear of the muffler and it sounded "ok" however I drilled some on the front side of the muffler and it really made a complete difference. Now I can levitate. My gas mileage has never been better.
This is easier if you do it at the pipe between the muffler and your cats. You won't throw a check light on because it is still after the catalytic converter but it will sound crazy loud with only 3 drilled 3/8in holes on it. I had this mod on my truck for maybe 5 years now and nothing happens.
Wow, sound great. I realize that every muffler would be different but I really liked whatever number of holes it took to make the exhaust start popping. Although in my next build I'm going to put an electric cutout just behind the header extension and before a high flow catalytic converter. Its going to be a 5.3L LS with a S475 turbo in a 5 inch turbo back exhaust system with the aforementioned cutout and location some sort of muffler and exhaust tip. However since I could run the engine exhaust before the catalytic converter it might not pass inspection with the cutout open and it would also be very loud (something that I don't mind but my neighbors might throw a fit).
It works lol I guess you right it is the free way if you want to be totally free. Hahah But ya jsut buying a couple clamps and 18 inches of pipe and you have even a louder sound with no muffler at all and it doesn’t have a bunch of exhaust leaks under the truck cut the pipe of clamp in Straihht pipe can do it for 30 bucs easy by yourself. But yes you got a point good way of doing it completely free lol hahah!
I had a friend who bought a truck with holes in it none went into the cab sounded pretty good it was an 05 Chevy 1500 5.3 I want to do it to my 04 Chevy 2500
I remember when I was 16 an had no money......sort of like now, but anyway I drilled holes into my 69 chevelle muffler until I could afford headers. Just do it after you get your car inspected. Because it won't pass after you drill holes in the muffler
Idler pulley or tensioner for sure. It's extremely common on these trucks. You can check by taking your belt off and wiggling the pulleys or spinning them by hand. There should be no movement in the bearings and should be smooth as butter spinning by hand.
I just unbolted mine all the way to the catalytic converters I have a 2013 raptor though it’ll make it super loud....louder than any muffler you put on
The air box makes it sound like that for some reason. I have a 5.4 lincoln mark lt, mines has a cold air intake but it sounds like it supercharged when you floor it, it's honestly kind of weird
If you’re talking about the whistle sound, it’s cause the holes are small and when air is pushed out of such a small hole, it makes the whistle effect.
Don't get carbon monoxide poisoning now. Probably won't be a problem but just wanted to mention it, and SUV, car or an open rear cab window can increase the possibility.
Anybody know the negative effects? I’m new to working on vehicles wanna try this on my own truck (2002 Silverado) just don’t wanna fuck anything up lol
To the noobs cut off cats and muffler and put 3inch piping and a straight pipe it half way back with a small muffler. Cutting off the muffler isn't straight piping
if you want sound why tf did you drill holes in the back of the muffler 😂 you’ll get a lot more noise if you drill before it, either way 0/10 wouldn’t recommend probably won’t pass inspection depending on your state, A+ for effort though
Wisco Stance that’s good I’m glad but just in general that’s why people get their exhaust replaced is cause it has holes but hey whatever works for you 😂 do you know how many decibels I’m increased it by?
We ended up just cutting the muffler off!
Wisco Stance lol why cutting the muffler, thats the point of the muffler, to make less sound
Wisco Stance you’re a dumbass bitch
did it turn check ingine light?
You gotta be careful cutting the muffler off you will lose all power because the muffler gives back pressure

Just put a microphone on it and plug the aux into the trucks speakers. Then you can control the volume of the truck

@@rainninja217 you wanna try it and let me know?
Just do a muffler delete man
You should weld an old oil filter to the exhaust tip that should add at least 5hp...
Hope you didn’t cut the muffler bearing out..
Honestly the sound was perfect when the muffler with the holes was still on. Once we cut it off it got annoying

Like drill into the pipe instead of muffler?
Right please clarify. Are you drilling into the pipe you installed?
@@shonuff601dj yep drill in the exhaust just before muffler
@@nickhughes794Yeah he's saying to drill into the exhaust pipe that is connected to the muffler
Did u drill all the way through to the other side or did u just make 3 3/8 inch holes
I think the truck would look sick with a side dump exhaust
I paid $400+ on my exhaust system.
And I coulda just gotten a dang glasspack.
