On my m135i F20 I just pulled the exhaust flap fuse out (fuse 146). It’s takes seconds..
the exhaust flap is opens when you turn the car off so just remove the fuse BEFORE you start the car and job done. Not sure what other BMW’s this method will work on

Your 320i probably doesn’t have a valve.

I unplugged electrical connector from the trunk wall left side behind the back lamp. So it stays clean. My car is 2011 X3 35i N55 (F25 chassis). The drawback is the warm-up time takes longer now (1 minute) and when it's not warmed enough, the engine won't obey when I push the pedal gas, so I can't use it before it's warm enough.

I'm honestly not sure, great question though. It would make sense that excessive pops (from a tune) could possibly do some damage over time, but keeping your valves open definitely wouldn't. This doesn't create more pops, rather let's you hear the existing ones better

@@jackrayko7167 I tried it out and it works exactly the same, if not easier due to only one sided exhaust. I notice a significant difference in the sound especially at lower RPM. Sounds so much better driving casually.
