You’re not gaining any horsepower without a tune for being catless, all you’re doing is increasing the amount of times you’re going to see your check engine light.
If there is no downstream O2 sensor behind the cat, it won't throw a code or lower performance. Those only happen when altering cats infront of the downstream as it'll not only throw a code, but also alter the afr because it believes there is still a cat and the O2 is bad. For example, when I had a bad leak infront of my downstream O2, my truck ran very rich and would even flood with gas at times.

Chuck Taylor problem with rock auto or similar catalytic converters is that they are garbage. I have installed off brand cats for customers and had them accuse me of not doing the repair because their cel would come back on in a week. Aftermarket cats use less than the minimum required to get the job done
have you noticed you don't see many muffler shops these days? That is because cars are equipped with catalytic converters. They prevent the formation of sulfuric acid and condensates in the exhaust which used to rust out mufflers and tail pipes.
That cat is unmetered. Just buy a cheap Y pipe without the cat and install. Easier and will give more hp. Did one on my 05 3.5 and loved it. Added power everywhere.

@@Justnn I personally wouldn't do it, also the car is engineered to have a certain amount of back pressure from the exhaust system. Missing is stupid but broken up like he did? The cat could certainly disintegrate. The exhaust system would have to be removed and inspected to verity. They can't prove he did it. Not saying its right but a straight pipe is a bad idea. Anything over 25 yrs in NY is exempt. Things rot out here, had to buy a new cat for my 96 Explorer, it had a hole. Probably could have welded it , looked pristine inside. Cats in NY and CA cost a fucking fortune too. There is a special part number and it has to be certified. Technically you fail inspection if the numbers aren't visible.
Yes wear a mask. I had a 1983 Saab 900 turbo that I used a 1 1/2 inch wood spade bit to cut a core through the center of the honeycomb cat . Left remainder there. Car ran a lot stronger for next 100K miles but old air cooled turbos only lasted 65K miles. I abused the crap out of the motor as under back seat could turn up boost and I ran 104 Octane booster . Ate up Corvettes , Mustangs and Camaros back then . Also ate up front tires every 20K miles but worth it to see the look on Billy Bob's face.
"by releasing more air, you should be able to take in more air..." To put this into context, that's like me saying "by farting more, you should be able to breath more." It's 2 separate systems that make 1 whole system. Deleting the cat, will not let more air into the engine. I would study up a bit before saying something. Don't just believe what someone once told you without verifying. 👍
Doing this has increased hp on my motorized bicycle dramatically, top speed and acceleration. It's because there's less back pressure pushing against the pistons exhaust stroke. Not to get into if any back pressure is necessary, but less is better in this case for getting more power.
@@lieutenantmikeo5979 a catalytic converter delete? Likely not, unless electronic systems are not adjusted and tell the engine "hey dude, my cat is fucked up!" Consequently sending it into limp mode, but not hurting the engine. If a tune is implemented, the engine will run BETTER. If you mean deleting the exhaust as a whole, it will damage the engine. The extent of which depends on the stroke type and other characteristics of the engine.
Also re-reading this. The original comment sounds more idiotic the older I get. Saying they're two separate systems is so foul. Every system in an engine relates to every other system. From the intake to the headers, from the coolant system to the pistons. They all are integral and affect eachother
Thanks for the information....I deleted my whole exhaust so theres no pipes running off of the cats and I wanted to also remove my cats for my own personal reason(s). I pretty much would only have the headers on the motor and I'm hearing that I could bend something in the motor or have warping so I was just scared to follow through with removing the cats
*Whào!.. made a really good amount of difference. Im surprised! Unexpected!.. sounds alot more sportier, better.* I have a altima se on se-r's. Def gutting out my third cat out next months. Thanks for da example bro. Good shyt.
Did it have 02 sensors on the cat? I’m thinking about doing this on my 17’ Sonata, with an upper and lower 02 sensor, may have to get a spark plug defouler for the lower if the cat throws a code. But without the honeycomb, the car would have a free flowing cat, which is attached to the manifold. Easy enough to get too, but still work to reach. If I can get the comb popped off/out, I think my exhaust stock will pop with mufflers on.
I'm going to make a correction...deleting the cat only improves outgoing gases, not incoming air. You still need to modify intake if you want it to "inhale" more.
Thats not going to disrupt scavenging lmao. All it will do is slightly reduce backpresure. If he had a larger diameter exhaust pupe then yes it would reduce scavenging by a small amount but would reduce back pressure by a lot. It helps to add a 4-1 or a 4-2-1 manifold to optimize it
Cats are filled with PLATINUM , Wich is more valuable than gold.... This is why the junkyards want your vehicle with the stock exhaust on it.... They make a killing off that ONE item.
I just hollowed out my cat converter from an 82 Vette over the weekend. I used a hammer, crowbar, and a box to set it in while breaking up the innards. Took about 10 minutes.
You should have said it’s illegal in all states be cause it is lol. There are a lot of states that don’t do emissions checks so you can get away with it but if you get caught then you’re breaking federal and state law. Because even though there are no emissions checks it’s still illegal. Plus another hint if you wrap exhaust back to the first oxy sensor and install a oxygen sensor defouler you can clear nearly every check engine light that has anything to do with exhaust emissions because it will come on.
Short of changing other parameters...camshaft..timing..injection timing/volume...inlet tract...all you gain is noise! More noise is not more performace! Std cars are designed to have back pressure. Romve it with no other mods you lose power and drivabilty. Ang if you run hi flow cats they are not restrictive at all. Even std cats not very restrictive if at all
This is good. It seemed like there was piece of sheetrock stuck in the cat. I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima, just changed the motor at 220, I didnt have to but A mechanic took my old motor apart when he changed the alternator to get to the timing chain that clicked. I wasnt happy since these cars make the ticking noise bc of the timing guide, anyhow that starts around 150k they said the motor that was installed has 77k, but im saying it has 135k since i know the noise of these vehicles. The old motor could have made it to 250k before a rebuild. what can you do. Alternator isnt a joke on these cars by the way.

😂😂😂😂😂 dis shit got me dying
Really 3 Cat converters? Thats amazing . You sure your not talking about a resonator or muffler?
Heaps of cars have more then two cats... My y62 nissan patrol has four, as does my Nissan elgrand
@@rowanparmiter7622 one off each manifold and a rear cat…that’s 3.

@@Mensaje22 , if it still ran! Lol.
I would consider a high flow catalytic converter instead. Cats help keep the exhaust note smooth and they serve an emission purpose.
Wow! Fancy seeing you here!
@@thesilentobserver93 I like seeing what other people are up to, can always learn something new 🙂
You’re not gaining any horsepower without a tune for being catless, all you’re doing is increasing the amount of times you’re going to see your check engine light.
Mathis 😂🤣
If there is no downstream O2 sensor behind the cat, it won't throw a code or lower performance. Those only happen when altering cats infront of the downstream as it'll not only throw a code, but also alter the afr because it believes there is still a cat and the O2 is bad. For example, when I had a bad leak infront of my downstream O2, my truck ran very rich and would even flood with gas at times.
I gotta give mad respect to this video .. I like it ‼️
Did you get more power and mpg ? Also did it mess with the computer at all ? I heard it will run better without .
A nice way to ruin a 500+$ part.
800+ $ dollar part in may area
If thats what you are thinking after watching this video, you completely missed the point.
@@elitesniper40 lmao he's doing a cat delete on a fucking ALTIMA LOLOL and your worried about what it's going to sound like he coulda just replaced the cat with a pipe and sold the cat to fix his broke ass catback

why?
Would be way easier with a drill to much banging way to make other things on exhaust come loose or cause a gap somewhere
Thanks alot that really help me out my car had no power and am going to do that in the morning
Joyst International how’d it go?
Dumb asf this won’t gain you shit you’ll lose power lmfao
Adam Wooten ehhh not true it does add tiny bit of horse Power but not as much as just taking it off and putting a straight pipe on it
Need help I used a king Soopers bag and now my car won't start dammit I should have used the Walmart bag FML
Get a target bag, it will run perfect for years
🤣🤣🤣
Shit least u gotta a bag. I live in California. No plastic bags aloud. We have to used weaved bamboo baskets. Since it's a fast renewable resource. I love California. Go gay!,
I am trying to do this not because of the hp because my cat a mess up and it will cost 1k to get new one for my jeep so if I delete it it won't mess up the engine sometime the engine stall cuz of that
You need to put a straight pipe in place of the cat and you need to delete the egr system with a block of plat also remove the smog pump if you have one and install o2 sensor plugs which can be purchased on ebay then you will be ok in the state of MA you can do this if you car is at least 15 years old or older because they do not require emissions testings as long as they are quite so you have to leave the resonator and muffler alone.
Whoever told you a cat costs a grand is pulling your gullible ass around by the dick.
Try RockAuto. Glad my Toyota only has one and it's $115.
Chuck Taylor problem with rock auto or similar catalytic converters is that they are garbage. I have installed off brand cats for customers and had them accuse me of not doing the repair because their cel would come back on in a week. Aftermarket cats use less than the minimum required to get the job done
Very helpful Thanks man.
1.5hp increase. Totally worth it
Every horsepower counts in the ¼ mile tho bro. Even if it's a few half seconds faster. 😅
You’re not doing a decat for hp, you do it for sound!
Gains is gains
If the converter is old or clogged up, its way more than that, plus better mpg.
captainchaos087 1.5 horsepower, or even 10 horsepower, will not remove a tenth of a second off a 1/4 mile time.
I'm a police officer and I've managed to decipher your licence plate.
have you noticed you don't see many muffler shops these days? That is because cars are equipped with catalytic converters. They prevent the formation of sulfuric acid and condensates in the exhaust which used to rust out mufflers and tail pipes.
You dont gain horsepower from this, u gain noise and a but more throttle response depending on the car
You do if they're clogged anyway
yes tf you do more air flow more hp that includes exhaust flow
How to make ur daily driver louder
That cat is unmetered. Just buy a cheap Y pipe without the cat and install. Easier and will give more hp. Did one on my 05 3.5 and loved it. Added power everywhere.
i have the same car, but an 06' SL with the VQ35 aswell. you should do a muffler delete. it sounds amazing! and its not obnoxious.
Tyrese Brazell ricer
im thinkin about taking off the mufflers of my 02 SE vq35, will it turn the ses light? just curious
I just wasted 5 mins of my life. Change the title call it how to gut a catalytic converter. U just lost money when u could of straight pipe and sell the cat. U just threw out platinum which is what inside a cat. 🤦🏾♂️
In some states you have to have a catalytic converter to pass inspection
@@noahcroft6943 yup that's why u have to get two, one for emissions and the other for power lol
@@noahcroft6943 Technically no. One monitor is allowed not to run. You just have to do your drive cycle right.
@@Justnn What state do you live in that cops inspect cat converters , We have state inspection stickers here.
Wow 😮 it really makes a big difference👌🏻great content bro
"by releasing more air, you should be able to take in more air..." To put this into context, that's like me saying "by farting more, you should be able to breath more."
It's 2 separate systems that make 1 whole system.
@@uknowngamer1017 would a delete destroy the motor to a vehicle
Good shyt.
Removing catalytic converter increases life of car and smooth running
when is the guy going to prison
9:50 I thought it was gon fly😂😂
Sound great! Can't wait to work on my cat for my Ford ranger!! Thanks!!
I straight piped my ‘15 Altima and it’s sound mint‼️‼️
Did it have 02 sensors on the cat? I’m thinking about doing this on my 17’ Sonata, with an upper and lower 02 sensor, may have to get a spark plug defouler for the lower if the cat throws a code.
But without the honeycomb, the car would have a free flowing cat, which is attached to the manifold. Easy enough to get too, but still work to reach.
If I can get the comb popped off/out, I think my exhaust stock will pop with mufflers on.
I'm going to make a correction...deleting the cat only improves outgoing gases, not incoming air. You still need to modify intake if you want it to "inhale" more.
if the exhaust can’t escape you can’t gulp air
That was the slowest fly by ever
I think it would have been easier to use a drill or dremel tool.
Like just for the proper jack, n jack stands setup! I also enjoy the vid, just to make sure! I’ve done the baffles on a motorcycle.
yall are so worried about him removing this one cat. Anyone realize there is two more further up so he really isnt hurting anything.
yes
This will make your car stink did it on my wife's Tucson complained til I put high flow cat on it from flow master lol 🤣
so you created an expansion chamber therby reducing or killing your exhaust scavenging and lowering your horsepower output. But it sounds good, right?
Harry Rathien shhh ricers gonna rice
Thats not going to disrupt scavenging lmao. All it will do is slightly reduce backpresure. If he had a larger diameter exhaust pupe then yes it would reduce scavenging by a small amount but would reduce back pressure by a lot. It helps to add a 4-1 or a 4-2-1 manifold to optimize it
Cats are filled with PLATINUM , Wich is more valuable than gold.... This is why the junkyards want your vehicle with the stock exhaust on it....
They make a killing off that ONE item.
Good job many have slot of comments but would never attempt to do what you did
Because it’s not worth it on a NA car. Loss of power.
Thanks alot for showing the demo
Sale the catalytic converters on eBay. And just weld cheap straight pipe in its place.
Thanks, time to make cash from all the prius cars in my neighborhood
I just hollowed out my cat converter from an 82 Vette over the weekend. I used a hammer, crowbar, and a box to set it in while breaking up the innards. Took about 10 minutes.
I would weld up another section of tube to replace it with. Should take about an hour and you get to keep the cat.
Swat I did.
James Wilson i dont think cops take apart catalytic converters
It's not illegal in Alabama
@@luldjay4785 its a federal law meaning it is illegal in Alabama
@@EthanL21800 What law is it? If it's federal law then it may only apply to auto manufacturer? IDK just wondering.
still sounds like shit lol
Some cars will actually loose power doing this, and I would wear a dust mask if you try.
Pretty much any naturally aspirated car.... like an Altima... will lose power.
This kid has watched too much fast and furious
Just park your car in the hood. Then magically in the morning your CAT will be gone. 😁
