Joe reminds me of my father in law so much. Same quirky smile, same temperament and same sense of humor. My father in law passed away 6 weeks after my own mom passed away in 2016. I miss both so very much. My father in law was more of a dad to me then my father was.
I can not get over how genuine this family is. Yes, every family has their ups and downs, but the cryptic honesty and openness they show is revealing and amazing.

So who do you agree with?? The Electra pilots who wanted an additional test flight? Or Chuck who felt another test was not needed? Chuck seems to be an excellent mechanic and an invaluable person to have around. However, a pilot needs assurance that his ship is in perfect shape for the task at hand.

At 9 minutes 30 seconds into the video an inaccurate statement is made concerning de-icing systems on all jet liners except perhaps the new generation Boeing 787. Up to the Boeing 787 wing de-ice systems use engine bleed air to de-ice the wings, not electrics.
Add to that, it’s more like anti-ice, right?
The captain has a Harley shirt on from Bedford Texas. I almost bought my 96 there but the waiting list was shorter at Lee Woods shop in Dallas.

up north, you cant grow the wheat to make the flour, you cant make any of those ingredients up north, so it makes every grocery item extremely expensive

Since then they bought a Boeing 737. So Buffalo is definitely in the relatively modern jet age now. They have an airplane that is still in wide use.

I think it is fantastic how Joe plans for these men and their safety. I have never heard of ANYONE in the USA doing such a thing for their pilots flying over the ocean in such planes taking such safety precautions. The old saying goes, "prepare for the worst, and the worst never happens"--be unprepared and look out. I am very impressed with this business owner and how much attention he pays to safety for all of his crews and for his passengers. Makes me wish I lived way up there and could be part of that team, if I was younger, and stronger. I love the cold, it would be my dream job!
