    Knowing that indigenous Inuit serve in a unit of Canadian Rangers in the high arctic just gives me the fizz.
    I doubt if any one else could rough it out at -50 Centigrade on the frozen ocean, or operate as effectivly is such an extreme ( and scary cold ) environment.
    Massive respect to those guys, from balmy Israel !

      No, any human from anywhere on earth could learn to "rough it out" under the same conditions - otherwise you're claiming that some cultures are superior to others, and we all know what that leads to.

    Spent 13 years maintaining aircraft in Alaska and theres a huge difference in an operating aircraft at 40 below zero temperatures and cold soaking that same aircraft overnight in those temps. When referring to cold soaking "Everything breaks in 40 below" and when it comes to the Electra/P3 aircraft, Chuck is the man.

    @mikeymcbryan, I remember my comment when I first saw this episode: "Not only no, but *HELL NO!* "
    My opinion has not changed. I'm more than happy to leave patrolling the surface north of the Arctic Circle to the Canadian Rangers. Closest I ever came to this was having to put an extra blanket on my bunk when my submarine was far north.

    Year round we keep our freezers well below freezing,only takes a walk from 1 end to the other to freeze my wet uniform and exiting the doors on other side the frost just evaporates off you... a real chilli check but someones gotta maintain freezer lights and else for the forklift drivers that seem to love smashing my handywork repairing racking by not stopping full load into the 1 inch bolts in the cement floor to hold it... made a necklace of a sheered 🔩 bolt thats kinda pretty just so cold it snapped when many thousand pound hit it at whatever slow under 25mph speed they careened into it gliding on frost that they were supposed to sweep away dry glad we got exits every 100 ft to the outside plant or emergency ones to outside outside which i must regularly check for operation of door heaters opening closing properly door seals etc I'm not the saftey engineer or nothing but i gotta keep coworkers safe by making sure especially certain things are maintained emaculately including the co2 vents they clog with moisture often on humid days restricting flow so i check em twice on my 8hr shift though not required to till the alarm goes off saying co2 level too high or the other redundancy saftey equipment the other maintenance guys check it too always making sure refrigeration in tip top shape and else also changing air filters often now weekly in fact for exess protections uh where was i kinda hit a tangent there.. oh yeah cold ❄ can make stuff stronger, or just plain brittle

      How do the animals that live in the arctic wear their fur? Inside or out? lol.

    • @wally7856
      @wally7856 Год назад +1

      I'll add that I'm Canadian and the fur goes on the outside. The fur on your hood is to keep the falling snow from going in your eyes, it also traps some warm rising air from your face to make a little heat dome around your face (only works on calm days, winds will destroy that heat dome but the fur will help block the wind and blowing snow while still allowing you to see a little bit through the fur so it still works that way). The fur on your gloves are not just there for your hands, it is there to warm up your cheeks/nose when your get a chance to bring your hands up to your face and also helps keep snow from going in your gloves and up your sleeves which can really ruin your day in those temps. Once your hands get really cold, there is really no way to get them to warm back up as your body will constrict the blood vessels to preserve the heat for the organs so your hands will never really recover out in the field after they freeze, feet same way.

    I get tired of watching mikey go do stuff, it's boring, and has nothing to do with the normal operations of the business. You never see mikey in the hanger, or near anything but a chair. I would rather watch more of the poor guy's stuck outside in the cold working. I hate military of any kind, because it's a lie, and everyone wants to be thanked. My two grandpa's served 4 year's in wwll, and wanted no recognition, and nothing on their headstone, because they know what hell was like. Going over to steal other countries oil, that's what war in the middle east was. Everyone with a brain knows the tower's were imploded by our own people. The world is a stage, but the KING will return, and rule with a rod of iron for 1,000 year's.
