I lived in Alaska and worked for a flying service throughout the 90's and thats exactly how the north country works. This TV series is sooo dang good, superior to anything currently on TV.
Tyler, a young kid, made himself look significantly better than fully matured Joe McBryan by saying "thank you" and seeking a handshake from Joe.... Joe responded by keeping his hands in his pockets and telling him he hopes he doesn't hurt himself. Wow
Did you bother watching his whinging, attitude, and poor work ethic in previous episodes? I’m with Joe, you can’t be classless as an employee and then only show class the day you leave.
Brilliant Programme, When Ray brought that Electra down on Two sets of Wheels, I would've thought the damage was terminal for the Plane but obviously I was wrong & glad about it. Even the Women have got Balls to Fly & work in this Weather & I wish this Programme was still being made 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I agree with Mr.Malbach. In Canada pilots with 2,500 or more usually have the ATR, which stands for Airline Transport Rating. If you applied for a job with Air Canada, you have to already have this rating. This rating not only requires a minimum time of 2,500 hrs but in it you are already Multi Engine Certified and have a Class 1 instrument rating. Some pilots with this much time, mostly are Flight Instructors too and could also have a Senior Commercial, one step higher than the. basic commercial. The Aussie came with a commercial, multi and instrument rating, and after checking out in a DC 4, they put him down to a rampie. Sounds more like a little bit of jealousy or fear from the other senior pilots. He has the hours, he is younger and if they gave him a fair shot, he could very well displace one of them. These people waste talent. They keep saying that they are short of pilots that aren't fresh out of flight school, and when one falls into their lap, and after they see how good he is, they decided to put him in his place and humiliate him. Now I did not know of this series until recently so I don't know if Buffalo still exists today, but if they do, I'll bet the Aussie is no longer with them.
Great videos series....I over them. Please keep these videos coming, forever, fir the next 25 years. You’ll soon have over 3 million subscribers to this channel!!!!!
I know these episodes are old. but i hope in the future when the engines on the old bombers are no longer fixable, I hope they put turbo props in them to keep them flying.
I think if you want to do that on a commercial aircraft you sort of can't. Mickey talked about it on his yt channel. They can't even use retired C-130 Hercules. There are turbine DC-3s, but I think C-46 is a better size. It's not worth the money to certify one aircraft. Buffalo flies the last c-46. ATRs Dash-7s Dash-8s L-100 hercs 737 probably what's going to do the job.
It looks like they did a very nice rebuilding job on the L-188. I hate seeing a classic airliner end up written off. Great to see the Electra flies again.
Silly question: Is there a way to get an engineer to work out a Canadian equivalent of an STC to beef up the gear to deal with the rough fields? Expensive but cheaper than wrecking a plane?
Well done David. The mistake is your greatest friend, because you know exactly what to not do henceforth. Good luck to you. Buffallo Joe, show some emotions please, the INTP thing is too dry! Good luck will....
Awesome show but be careful with that Electra. That is a very old airframe! Please check the spar caps closely. Especially the forward lower in front of the MLG. Any fuel leak could be a crack! Direct message me for more info.
As tough as it can be to go from high up in the food chain down to the lower or the entry level, personally I think that it's good! You want to be the guy that can go anywhere in the company and be able to do the job. From top to bottom, bottom to top! That makes you valuable and gives you job security, plus it makes your day to day tasks much easier because you understand what and why things are being done the way that they are. That's just my opinion anyway 😁
I knew a young guy who had 1,000 flying hours. He had 500 hours in an Aeronca Champion and 500 hours in a combination of ultra-light aircraft and hot air balloons. Was he ready for the Airlines? Nah! 👨🛩🔥
This is from I believe Late to early 2000-2010. Mikey has been posting about the 737 on his social medias. He hasn't revealed it yet though. I believe when he reaches 100K subs he will.
How did they get the Electra to the repair Shop with half the engines gone and parts of the wing ground off? I assume they did the bare minimum repairs to get it air worth enough for a flight to the repair shop??
@@maytagmark2171 P-3 guy here. Two engines would too dangerous. Mostly did a bunch of temp repairs to make it flyable and got permission for a one-time flight to the repair facility.
This is why they can’t keep pilots. They put a professional pilot who Mikey says is “pretending pilot” on the ramp like a pilot with 100 hours a disgrace that is a slap in the face. Plus old planes carrying their capacity is a recipe to become a black spot in the snow
Very bad using of resources having the Aussie sent to Hay River to become a mindless rampy. Think of the resumes Buffalo gets. Do any of them have a guy with 3000 hours real flying? Mikey and the rest of the office are out of touch with recruiting.
He shouldn't expect any special treatment. He may have over 2000 hours in his log book, but that doesn't qualify him to be anything but a rookie pilot here. By his own admission, Buffalo's aircraft and the conditions in the Canadian North are in a completely different category from anything he has handled before. He'll have to earn his way off the ramp, and rightly so.
It’s not just Canada, but Alaska too & anywhere in the Arctic, because we put large amounts of sand & gravel on the roads during the winter for added traction, the gravel gets kicked up by vehicle tires & crack the windshields of the vehicles behind them. Another cause is putting the heater on defrost right when you start the vehicle & the windshield is frozen can make them crack horizontally across the windshield right where the defroster blows.
@@NotFound-lt9jq Ah yes, I recall a co-worker went to visit his parents in Montana and learned that they didn't have fine glacial gravel for the roads, so the larger rocks would often get kicked up and crack windows.
To see some one out of the blue get to fly when u have other pilots that can fly if you train them instead of having them load freight why are you having pilots and hiring pilots to load freight what makes no sense they don’t care about load they don’t care about the weight distribution it would be almost more of a hazard than anything

Brings back memories. I spent 24 years flying in the Electra's cousin, the Navy's P-3 Orion.
can't beat the sound of those D13's at 90 deg coordinator, baby💖
Much respect to all involved with this production, not just pilots/crew!
Great to see an Aussie guy doing his Best in Yellowknife 👍🏼

I love this show.
I watched it on the Weather Channel.
The courage and perseverance of these folks most impresses me! Love airplanes and love them.
I am addicted to a new story line and new aircraft's.

So glad to see BAQ back in the air!
Thanks for sharing a good group of people.

I remember the last episode Douglas when Joe and Mikey were bidding on one with turboprop engines but they were outbid..I really wanted them to Win
They actually lease a few of the turbo prop dc3 during the winter months to help with demand
Or modern radials. Someone somewhere should be building knock off Pratt and Whitney's
These days they fly electras and a 737 is on the way

Nice to see ex VH-RMA back in the air again ... If it is ever retired be nice if it went into a museum in Australia..
Loved watching this series, but appears I had got my hopes up someone had did a current documentary.
I love these guys
Let's go!
love this
Love this flying TV series.....please, please keep them coming, forever!!! You’ll have alot of subscribers!!! Great videos, loved them!!!
Joe, Arney and Kelly are dead.
Thanks. Ey.
No I work on P3s Orion’s for 20 years. Great planes
How on earth can they throw gold on the street like that? An experienced pilot as rampie??? Nuts
I wish they were still producing the show..I don't know why they stopped
Hang on to yer hats, Boys!

Nothing in the world like that sound of them engines especially on decent
Is it not common to tap the brakes after takeoff to stop the tires from spinning?
Did seapost get rid of his Cessna 150?
Mickee if you read this. There is a dc3 for sale in Australia
You should reply on his channel...

You get an experienced pilot then you stick him on the ramp not surprised your going bust.
I assume you think TV is real life then eh?
@27.05 "how big is the commander?" they got one on the hangar floor @10.48.
No, we all are!😁
Why don't you apply the brakes after takeoff to stop the wheels from rotating as they enter the wheel wells.?
What happened to his cessna 150
Your not the only one who is addicted

They make it sound like the Electra is barely capable of landing on an ice runway. Tell that to the A340 that landed in Antartica.
oh yeah mikie married chuck and had a baby and joe ended up in anger mgmt killed the instructor. just what i read in yellowknifes local newspaper
Lol
Lazarus lives, Clarence Kelly Johnson builds ,em tough.
given the choice of flying interesting aircraft like this airline flies or modern junk I know which I would choose
Joe being himself, ungrateful to the end! Buffalo's FO turnover must be really high.
This is a very Electraflying show....see what I did there ? lololol
I`d work for joe..... 🤠😎
Me too

New episode?

Swap one good engine to the damaged wing? Fly it on two engines?

The engines were replaced and it was flown gear down.

Joe is a businessman until someone needs to do something that is good business for them, after that all its all personal.

Who says hang on to your hats boys?
It was Buffaloes chief pilot (at the time) Arnie Schroeder (spelling?).
