So I’m pretty sure this is an 1105 and that I haven’t picked this one before...I think. Just a quick video as I like to keep a RUclips record of my locks before they get sent on :-)
Nice work, a gem in 0.018 is my typical approach too. I don't blame you on the gutting, it is tedious and at this point if anyone does not believe you picked it fully pinned the just haven't watched enough of your channel. Congrats on the open! American locks are my favorite especially the round brass ones.
Lock Noob they have them for sale on eBay in the United States frequently for around $20 to $25 I know with shipping and everything that would be expensive for you but I highly recommend you get one!
Nice pick. Those 1100 locks are good fun. I also thought the 1106 was the longer shackle than the 1105. I find my sparrows high reach 20 works very nicely on these. Cheers!
This is a great little A.L. tutorial, I still struggle with these, have been trying to do one for the UKLS jan challenge but no go at the moment, will try your method tomorrow. Thanks LN
Nice, quick pick! 👍 That's a lovely padlock and I'm lovin' the colour, but I'm a fanatical Ferrarista, so anything in red gets my blood stirring! 🙂 On a different note, I love that curved tension bar. I didn't realise that Madbob sell it like that. I thought that you (and The Lockpicking Lawyer) had modified a standard tensioner. Do you think I could try bending my Praxis kit tensioners? I'm afraid of weakening or breaking them if I don't get the right curvature at the first attempt, and have to make multiple corrections? I'm thinking that by the very nature of a tension tool, it should be ductile, and therefore less brittle. However, how sure can I be of their tempered state. Have you ever tried modding tensioners with that degree of arching?
I have not tried modding, but LPL definitely has bent/customised some of his at an angle - I think that gives the same effect as the curve, so maybe try that?
@@LockNoob When I use top of keyway, which is most of the time, I'll reach for one of those in almost every case unless I want to change it up or remind myself that sometimes I might have different choices made for me. I have some Sparrows Heavy bars on order and I'm looking forward to checking those out, but I don't have many locks that would call for them. Nice to have the option. If they do the job well then I may try to put a bend in them.
My Monstrum XXL kit only came with .025 picks. Could I still pick these locks with those or should I buy Sparrows .020 and .015 picks? I'm sticking with Sparrows cus they're more economical for me at the moment. In a perfect world I'd have pick sets from other companies but due to costs at the moment I can't.
If I can comfortably pick the lock pin-side (TOK in the US) then I will as I prefer it, but if I risk oversetting the pins and have an open enough key way, then I pick BOK
I have sparrows SSDEV picks and they bend all the time they're worse than my Chinese pics mr. Locke Noob can you recommend a good set of lock picks that aren't going to break the bank
Sesamee do pretty good locks, but only Brinks do a lock with as good security (anti pick) as the American Locks IMO. Matlock do a pretty good 1100 clone too :-)
peterson gem .018 is the secret to picking those locks? i have a 1100 series that says 1100 series yours says 1105 and lots of other stuff very odd....
Lock Noob I have only ever tried one and that was a few years ago (fail) but I am a little better now. I dd get a little despondent when I watched LPL open about 12 in something like 7 minutes.

What's the difference between the 1105 and 06? Apologies if you mentioned it. If you did I missed it.
I never get bored with picking American padlocks. Nice picking.
I did get a little bored after picking so many 1100 Clones, but I still enjoy them now and again. They are a great and unique picking experience :-)
That one was made in May of 2001 according to the date code on the back. American Locks are a fun pick. Some can be tricky to get into.
Thanks :-)
Very nice... Just did this one also. Your bitting was way better than mine.
It’s OK bitting, but I think it could be a little better, I got lucky :-)
One day :-) it gets silly money with import duty and postage

Congrats on the open! American locks are my favorite especially the round brass ones.
The round brass one is the only one that have never seen in person. They look cool though. I like the brass army ones :-)

Thanks for watching :-)
Nice one mate. I have never tried the bendy pry bars might have to look into it and get a couple when funds allow.
I love them for picking in hand :-)

Wow you make it look so easy, beautiful work. I just ordered an 1106 an know its going to be a tough one.
Very nice picking my friend i do like the 1100s and the 5200s there a fun pick 👍😊👍😎😎😎
I agree, great locks! :-)
An American 1100 is always nice for picking on the fly ;). You've really developed your picking on them, well done Ash :).
Thanks Foxxy, I think I have the knack now, though you can still get the odd, really tricky one :-)
I saw one last night at an abandoned building. I want to go back and try to save it from trash heap.
Good pick and good lock, love my American Locks!.
Thank you :-)
Nice, quick pick! 👍

Great pick, very nice padlock 👍👍👍
Thanks :-)
I love my Mad Bob curved TOK prybars. So comfortable. Now all I need is enough talent to use them properly.
They are great!

very nice pick.thanks for sharing
Thanks :-)
nice job, you did that pretty fast.
Thank you :-)

I use 0.025 picks most of the time in loads of locks
Nice work ash that was nice an quick :)
Thanks :-)
Fun locks, for sure.
They really are great value picks :-)
Nice lock! Great pick!!!!
Thank you :-)
What kind of wrench is that? Good pick by the way!
It’s a Mad Bob Wrench :-)
how do you decide top of keyway vs. bottom? What is your thought process?

1st yay! Another great vid... thanks :) Never done an American Lock. Off to Ebay me thinks!
Les Turner also try amazon for these and some of the cloned one like Sesamee. That’s where I picked mine up from relatively cheaply.
Papa Smurf thanks. I'll look them up :)

peterson gem .018 is the secret to picking those locks? i have a 1100 series that says 1100 series yours says 1105 and lots of other stuff very odd....
The 110p series has the 1100, 1105 and 1106 in it. The shackle sizes change. And yeah, the 0.018 Gem destroys them :-)
@@LockNoob
looks like i will have to invest in a few peterson lockpicks
Is it standard to have serrated spool pins in these locks? I just want to make sure I'm getting good practice locks for my money.
Yes, serrated and serrated spools
just out of curiosity where did you get that tension tool ?
MAD BOB :]
Yup! :-)
nice pick, are you able to bypass it?
I’ve not gutted it so see if it has a security wafer, but if it doesn’t you could :-)
Thanks Lock Noob
Thanks :-)
I like Americans too. Red ones are harder!😁 Quick pickin' Mr Noob.👍🏽🍺😎✌
My wife always says the red one"s are harder :]
Lol
Oh, for sure. MUCH harder lol :-)
Wish these were more readily available over here although I really do not want to give any money to the lying masterlock corporation.
I know what you mean, but American Locks are a great pick :-)
Lock Noob I have only ever tried one and that was a few years ago (fail) but I am a little better now.
I dd get a little despondent when I watched LPL open about 12 in something like 7 minutes.
I"m sure SQUIRE do an aluminium lock similar to these AMERICAN"s :]
They do, the SAL40 which is a good lock, it not a patch on the American Lock TBH :-)
