How hard could it be to make an unpickable lock? Turns out pretty flippin hard. After I recovering from the mental and physical turmoil of getting this thing made I called up a locksmith to see if they would be able to pick it. A fun time for all involved. - Наука
This is a really interesting project that shows promise. It's always fun to see what happens when fresh eyes look at a problem.
Shane and I just talked, and he'll be sending an improved version my way once it's ready. I look forward to seeing if I can come up with a creative approach to cracking this nut.

this could be a great design to sell the patent for. However you need to remember to make it out of very sturdy parts and have it also surrounded by very sturdy material in case of brute force attacks. Or just simply cutting away all the material around the lock because its too hard haha.
if ur gonna damage stuff u might aswell go for the door hinges
Battery powered angle grinders exist, these locks are obsolete at this point
As he says, the lock isn't commercially viable. This is because each lock has to be individually made to match the key. With a conventional lock, you only need to replace the pins to get it to work with a different key.

I can't wait to see how the Lockpicking Lawyer will tackle this challenge. I also agree with the suggestion to engineer the entire door in v3 to make it even more secure. Keep up the great work!
It is interesting philosophically that most of your projects are designing something to do something. The challenge of this is you’re designing something to prevent someone from doing something. Anticipating and overcoming all possibilities is extremely difficult. The former only requires finding one way that works.

@@lordofchaosiori You sir, or mdm, just made my day.
There's a flaw in some locks that concentrate on being unpickable. With moderate force, you can rotate the core with a bent screwdriver. The door this lock is in has a glass panel, and I assume you don't need a key to open it from the inside.
@@VecheslavNovikov destructive entry isn't the same thing as non-destructive entry.
When it is unpickable the crooks I know of will just hammer a screwdriver blade in and turn it with a big Stillson wrench. Or just smash the wall down if you can't get through the door.
Well. I'm so happy to see this. It's a really good idea

LPL: you see, if you smash it on the ground... Tada!
Put a pound of TNT on it,
Instant unlock.
Just submerge it in liquid nitrogen, Snap on 1, 2 is gone, 3 is binding...
Using only one of those cheap flat toothpicks that broke with the slightest bend.
Can pretty much guarantee that there's a design vulnerability. Like pushing the rear lever back and driving all the pins up. Then reverse picking by dropping pins 1 by 1. There's probably worse tolerances than most factory locks.

LPL picked that lock before it was invented.
It's only a matter of milliseconds
God damn it I cant believe I actually laughed at the fart noise.
Hey there Mr. Stuff, since watching your video years ago I’ve been designing a lock mechanism that accomplishes all of the goals you had in the design of this one. I finally had my eureka moment a few weeks ago and have designed the lock in Fusion. I’m currently working on saving for a patent and I’m hoping to manufacture it to sell. If there’s any way you could help me build a functioning prototype in metal (as a 3D printer can’t make small structural parts) it would be an immense help. I hope whatever project you’re working on isn’t too frustrating. Thank you for the inspiration behind what I believe to be my most practical invention yet.
When LPL tries to open this, we will have a true example of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object
He will have a massive advantage cuz he is able to know just how the lock works but I think this one is going into to "I'll get back to it later" bucket lol
Lpl probably will partner with Bosnian Bill to make a custom pin just for that lock . Stuff showed how the lock was made and explained it detail which is putting yourself at a disadvantage in a way . Because you don't tell your enemy how to beat u right ?
This will create a massive black hole, sucking all RUclips material in it.

I just got an idea recenly based on the presented concepts if possible you can convert the pins into screw and just turns into the right angle in either cc or cv to move the pins lower or higher this means special key is needed with complex gears inside which turns in two stage 1 is to position the screw pins into the right angle and 2nd is to finally to turn and unlock. the turning angle of screw can be adjusted by its thread fine thread means less angle and large thread means larger angle adding more complexity of picking
