When he landed the jump I loosed a "yoooo!" and sat up straighter. The skills to design, build, and iterate on these bikes? SUPER impressive (there must be petabytes of footage of head-desking and shouting "oh come ON!" from this project). Then grit to put in heaps of hours of work to learn how to actually ride it... and then take one off a jump? That's on a whole other level.

Seriously awesome video. This kind of stuff should not make me so happy, but it does. And the way you lay out everything you did and the failures on the way really makes your work top notch. Thank you!
that's what i want to know? it would be a shame to do all that work and not get the record
Unfortunately Guinness World Records isn't really that interested in keeping accurate records. If you want to beat a record on there you have to apply and pay for a verifier to come out for it, which people say costs around $10,000 though I don't know the true price.
Take the bike there and ride it around in front of their corporate offices until they are forced to come out and deal with the crowds watching you ride the world's smallest bike.
@@JokingJames2 Fortunately, being registered with guinness isnt a requirement for holding the record. just because they dont acknowledge something, doesnt mean it isnt the record
it's a bigger flex to break the record and not care about the paperwork.
The best part of all of this is that your wife is so supportive, even when it seems like she's not.
is she? it sure doesn’t look like it.
@@emoalus It's their schtick, and part of what makes this channel so awesome.
nah honestly it got kind of old here
This channel is the very gold standard of going down the rabbit hole! I very much appreciate your commitment. Your wife playing the straight man in the comedy duo is always a good laugh. Thanks for the videos I enjoy them very much!
Thank you for not making 500 shorts! Your one-at-a-time videos are amazing!
Nothing better than a stuff made here video.
yes, cookies
@@1nicubelet's compromise, it's have cookies while watching a stuff made here video
He’s tied with Jlazer for me, you should watch him too, they’re both insane
My favorite thing about this channel is the trying ideas, finding flaws and working out solutions to them. It really itches a specific part of my brain.
Yeah this is a classic example of the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. 🤔 if that makes sense. I really couldn’t care less about the world’s smallest bike, so the finished product isn’t interesting to me. But this guy bringing engineering and coding and 5 axis milling into the picture is so enthralling.
Hi Shane! I'm starting third semester of mechanical engineering in a few days, and just wanted to let you know that you have been a huge inspiration for me! Thank you so much for quality content! Love from Denmark
Your complete inability to give up is honestly really commendable
@2:40 And that's why we love you. One video to complete a thought/project? Absurdity!
I subbed for this exact reason
I appreciate you frontloading the tiny bikes so we can all see what's coming, rather than making us wait for the good stuff
Your wife is a legend and a saint.
Your videos are always entertainingly educational.
Which is very different than educationally entertaining.
What's legendary about scripted parts of her mocking him for absolutely no reason.
@@games528 The reason is that he gets her to do it for the sake of entertainment, your victimhood is showing.
@@games528 She has the right type for it. A resting bemused and underwhelmed face and a voice to match.
You got some serious dedication man. Don’t give up on making videos, I watch em all as soon as I see them.
I just adore how you found a way to make your favorite person (wife) one of the favorite characters in your episodes😂 they wouldnt be nearly as funny without her
"Your face could be smaller . . . . . Just a hypothetical . . . . . iiii haven't thought that about you..." You've got me rolling man 🤣
You have no business having such high end tools. I've worked at companies with less hardware than you.
I respect it.
Edit:
Brilliant is a solid resource. I've learned coding through it, and made my first video game.
I think thus youtube channel is to fund his tools
@@jasondads9509 a retroactive relationship I'm fully on board with! lol
@@jasondads9509 LOL yeah right
Literally it is his business to have and use such high end tools lmao.
@@josuelservin That makes sense, because I wasn't being literal.
His wife casually throwing shade and not being impressed at his insane engineering, hard work and perseverance was hilarious.
This is insane because of how easy you make it look. Anyone else would have a 20 part series about designing and learning to ride, this is all in one.
Mark Rober was right, this guy has an insane range of engineering ability
Mark rober just stole this guys ideas
Yep, dude's a damn wizard at fabricating anything that comes to mind.
He didn’t even show off his robotics skill set, nor his programming skills
@@nobodyelse-h6hmark explained the situation in his video 🤦🏻♀️ it was a coincidence that they happened to be working on it at the same time, and mark was already working on it before shane’s video released.
@@mountaindrew2241 That is not true, Mark did copy This guys idea. I think it was a douche move. But at least Mark mentioned him which may have benefited his channel in some way.
Now this is creative valuable content that most 99% of other RUclipsrs/content creators fail to make. Bro I can tell you worked you Aaa OFF! And to also have a wife like that to motivate you to do the impossible. Great channel!!

Its so nice seeing how much more comfortable they are at just being themselves in vids. They were really camera shy at first. Now we are getting "Your face could be smaller." lines now. I love it.
The "It should fit you really well then" was probably the hardest I've laughed watching the channel, and it always makes me laugh. Awesome work on this vid. Love you guys.
I am always amazed at your ability to come up with interesting content!

I've been replaying it literally this week 😂
@@jassom1270 don’t do me like that 😂😂😂
I like that you say "we _get to_ redesign and remake everything" instead of "we _have to_ redesign and remake everything"
The way you see things is always surprising. Who else wouldve fixated on making a tiny bike to beat a world record. Absolutely fascinating
The guy who is in the Guinness Book of World Records, probably.
At some point (around the 13 minute mark) you just made a tiy unicycle with a blip for a second wheel to technically make it a bicycle. Super cool project, hats off to you, sir!
Why is every project you do both incredibly technical and incredibly hilarious. I have to pause and laugh for a good 30 seconds in nearly every video.
"I'm gonna have to redesign and remake a bunch of parts" that feels like the mantra of this channel
All the parts is what it's often really is lol

I have some much respect for people that can make stuff like this. He is so smart its crazy.
It’s kind of crazy seeing the five axis cnc remembering about 4 years ago you talking about not being able to get a HAS at the time.
Yeah! Congratulations!
Your wife says what we think. As if she comments for the community before the community can even comment for themselves. It's a perfect dynamic.
But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen- that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles.
Acts 26:22-23
So this is what waterjets are for?
It's OK WaterjetChannel we like to see people goof off with them too :D
U are a real nerd who had no business getting laid but you also somehow manage to do that, just like you do in every video. This is the most enjoyable and entertaining channel i have come upon. Love the work and the usless stuff no one needs but we all want.
Sorry, but if any of y'all aren't subscribed to this channel... this guy acquires some of the most incredible machinery and tool manufacturing equipment that exists - with the full intent of using it. I'm not sure if the 5-axis cnc was an aquisition or a rental but jeez, this channel is great.
Yes you’ve finally got your Haas 5 Axis!! So looking forward to all the stuff you make with it!
There are people struggling to work in one branch of engineering. This dude works with michanics, electronics and softwares. This is the skill level I want to be at. He is the upgraded version of Mark Rober.
Rober can do this too....but he doesn't have to. They're totally different talents for different reasons.
And Rober doesn't do many videos......if he made videos about design and failures and machining and making......he could do a lot more vids.....but his recipe for videos is much different.
@@ian3580 Ofcourse he can, it's not that I look down upon the NASA guy. I am inspired by both of their skills. Marks doesn't show the hardwork that goes into his projects.
@@QazWsx-sn3bn He doesn't, you're right.......and he could pump out WAY more videos if he did....but that's his formula. Which is interesting.....because a lot of us would gladly watch the 'boring parts, even if it was extra on Nebula or something.
mark rober has litterally said in one of his videos that he doesnt compare to him. this guy is a master in all fields according to Mark
@@ian3580Rober outsources a lot of parts of his projects. He doesn't specialize in every field like Shane does.
*I'm glad you made this video,* it reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home, $89k biweekly and a good daughter full of love..

It's Maria Angelina Alexander doing she's changed my life. A BROKER- like her is what you need.

These videos are always top notch entertainment, but I love how you always highlight the iterative process and how important it is to not give up and keep learnig
Also Wife's commentary is always on point but even though her "character" is supposed to be 100% sarcastic and unimpressed I love how in each video there is always a little moment when she cant avoid dropping the act and rooting for you, it's a really sweet wholesome moment every time it happens
Both of you have a great day!
Your dedication to including a freehub is hilarious to me. Like, it's the plan to coast down big hills? Lol, if any bike could just as easily be a fixie, it's this one. But, well done!
Actually the opposite. This is HARD to pedal....he NEEDS it to coast whenever he needs to balance or his foot cant go over the top. Without coast, this would be 100% impossible to ride.
@ 6:00 why do you need a chain at this point? Gear to gear would have been easier
I was wondering the same thing, maybe it's not technically considered a "bicycle" without a chain?
@@chaseczymbor There are bikes that use drive shafts like trucks, so I doubt it needs a chain to be considered a bike.
Wouldn't you need an extra gear? It would be reversed lol
@Hatomix I was waiting for someone to mention this, but I still think 3 gears would be more durable than 2 gears and a chain? I could be flat out wrong tho...
Damn this guy’s engineering, problem solving, and sheer determination is downright inspiring. What a legend.

When your wife said "scooter" I died laughing because that's exactly what I was thinking LOL If there is no seat, then it's a scooter!
