    @StuffMadeHere I have an idea for your .27 cal pencil sharpener. First you need to vent some of the gas off. Second don't try to force too blunt objects together and expect a sharpened result, in other words try you can't just compress the wood on the pencil. Try the sharp angle on the sharping end again but this time try to not only cut the wood instead of compress it, but also give the cut off bits somewhere to go. I wish i could leave a diagram in comments, but generally if i were to try to build this i would vent the gas off at the same place the cut off bits go. Hope you try this in the future, this video was very fun watch. Keep doing what you do!

      There's a complete "genre" of machine tools that use the pantograph or a similar mechanism to copy a template.

      Most notably, the pantograph milling machine is still used to cut/copy keys when you take them to the locksmith.
      Also, pantograph mechanism is also used to establish the sliding electrical contact with conductors, mostly in trains, trams and trolleys.

      He could probably also do progressively smaller rings of blades with gaps in between if he wanted to fix the original method. So that way it basically peels away layers as it travels and the excess can get out of the way.

    for the .50 cal powered sharpener, instead of trying to impact form the pencil, why not use the acceleration to propel the pencil past a series of razor blades, that progressively shave it down to a point? the razor blades would also act as a brake, each one taking some of the momentum away and converting it to heat, which could potentially prevent the pencil from exploding at the end of the blade-form
    edit: for clarity, i'm more or less proposing you make a pencil gun and then use that gun to shoot the pencil into a helical cone of razor blades that will shave the pencil-bullet while decelerating it

    • @jono6379
      @jono6379 Год назад +28

      I had the same thought. Better to actually sharpen it to a point than try to compress it into one

    • @jonoel6638
      @jonoel6638 Год назад +13

      Same idea. A gun already has a rifled barrel which puts a spin on the projectile (pencil) and then just a cone sharpener

    • @SOOKIE42069
      @SOOKIE42069 Год назад +7

      @@jonoel6638 come to think of it you could just make a really really long barrel that comes to a point with some vents at the end so the gasses have somewhere to go and the rifling would take care of the sharpening on its own

      Cool idea, although I have some doubts on a technical aspect. Shooting a pencil into a helical cone of razor blades leaves you with many long strips of pencil wood. In case u actually found circular blade, you'd get wood straws with increasing diameter depending on how many blades you have.
