So if Singapore wants to start a war they have to do it quick and take over Malaysia, better let them to develop Malaysia and become a very strong country, let Sabah and Sarawak to be an Independent country, most of their development are getting drag by the Malaysian Central Government, because they can't use the religious manefesto to take control of the Sabah Sarawak majority.

Tbh tho, the militaries of both countries are built for different purposes. Singappre military are built to resemble Israel’s military in which they are excellent at early offensive attack and defending a small area. While Malaysian military are built to police the SEA waters. They are more of a pirate buster than a country conqueror. They both have very different doctrines and its very unlikely they would even want to fight each other
On behalf of both countries, I would like to apologize regarding how many uh... Passionate comments there are on this video. Hopefully the algorithm benefits outweigh the cons. Regardless, really interesting video. I like how in-depth you go in discussing the differences between the two countries military powers. Definitely subscribed!
Twandepan And so if I promote my new military project to either of the government I can use this video as a reference to increase the chance of my project getting funded. Like I should promote to Singapore side a quick solution that allows its infrastructures and equipment to self repair. Alright let me start drafting it with CAD programmes, should I use Pro Enginning or Auto desk inventor?
"War is the continuation of politics by other means." Clauswitz You cannot separate war from politics. But I'll indulge you. For Singapore and Malaysia to get to this stage, the politicians on both sides would have been utter imbeciles.

When the Japanese invaded Singapore, the locals expected the British to defend the island. Instead, the British just packed up and left. Singapore built its military with the mindset that there will be no one to rely on in case of an invasion, that's why they spend so much effort to build the biggest military force in the region. Their military training is professional and well equipped. They also take reservist training seriously. Also, Singapore hires Nepali Gurkha. With that mindset, the scenario of this video should be the other way around.

Happens every time. It's one of the reason the US military used zombies in a recent planning exercise, so they didn't have to deal with a bunch of idiots taking things out of context.
That's why this topic shouldn't be a general discussion. It can form a negative perception in the general public and instill a passion for war for no reason.

Until this thought experiment isnt just a thought, it has actually happened if you know the history behind Singapore and Malaysian. The threat to cut Singapore's water supplies, the joint military exercise held a mere 50km off Singapore's border and on a 'coincedental' National day parade where most military assets were on deployed for the march, the still unresolved airspace and sea borders. These are real life events that have happened. Going further back, Indonesian did openly threaten to go war with Malaysia when Singapore was still part of the federation. This video.is at best insensitive and at worst, a provocation. Thought experiment up his
My daughter was stationed at mountain home air force base for a couple of years. Her expertise was in the computer world and in intelligence. She told me she became friends with Singaporean air force pilots who were training at Mountain Home for some pretty intensive training. She told me these pilots were damned good and Singapore spared no expense in getting them the best training. Though many counties in the U.S. are bigger than this city-state, Singapore is an extremely well equipped military force to reckon with. The air force has top notch fighters, transports, and multi role helicopters. My daughter says Singapore invests millions, if not billions for defense annually and a lot of that money goes for training. She said any country in the region declaring war on Singapore would be suicidal as Singapore is well equipped, armed with missiles, bombs and the best jets and fighters. Like the U.S., the pilots get a lot of flight time with training from USAF flight instructors. Singapore can take care of herself at times of conflict. Why would Malaysia want to go to war with a powerhouse like Singapore?
Don't worry, the Malaysian 🇲🇾 artillery will do some damage to all Singaporean 🇸🇬 aircraft runway, so the Singaporean 🇸🇬 military pilot can't landed their plane 😎 .

From Singapore here. This analysis is pretty commendable although there are strategies on our side here which I am certain can’t be openly shared. Nevertheless, we don’t want a war. We love Malaysia. Ask any Singaporeans and we will tell you we love Malaysia. Malaysians share very similar cultures to Singapore and we Singaporeans enjoy taking the random holidays to tour Malaysia. Nobody here in their right sense would want to fight Malaysia. I know, your analysis was based on hypothesis, but why would any of our countries want to destroy the many decades of peace and prosperity? Both sides will suffer greatly if a war do break out. It is better to exercise patience and understanding than to ruin the many years of harmony and interdependency.
But if theoretically if there is a war Singapore would try to have johor without fighting honestly consideirng alot of Singaporeans stay there and Malaysians that work in Singapore stays there.
Sometime war is an avenue to distract the population. Look at China invasion of Vietnam or Japanese invasion of Korea during the 1600s . Didn't Singapore always become a Malaysian target board whenever they had domestic issue. Well someone did says war is just part of political tool .
Sakiru Eiji not sure about that man. Fight or not really depends on the government of both countries. So vote wisely for the right government and we will have peace. As what Mark Ong said below in another reply, MY ministers for the last few decades have always used Singapore as a target board whenever they have their own domestic issues. By doing that they diverted all the attention and hatred of the citizens of Malaysia towards Singapore instead of themselves. I just hope the government over there will stand up and do a good job for the people rather than divert blames to us. This have always been my sincere wishes.
Mark Ong Yes it’s true. But we just got to exercise patience, not because we are a small country, but because it doesn’t benefit both sides in the long run.

Singapore will never go to war with its neighbours. The culture of both countries are so similar, with families, relatives and friends on both sides of the Johor Straits. Unless, there are no other solutions and Singapore is pushed to the walls. The US would be involved way ahead, whether diplomatically or militarily. On tactics, the beachhead in western Johor is insufficient to defend in depth. Pushing to Malacca might allow sufficient space for various divisions to manoeuvre.
I am almost certain we would invade Malaysia the moment the water is cut back in the day we were reliant on them for it. But in 2020, I think true lah, won't invade even if they cut the water. Lmao but this is still a poor scenario. Political power directly influences military power. For example Malaysia wouldn't touch Singapore shopping because it would risk war with other nations. Singapore would fight very offensively striking deep into the country with air/Navy or assassinate major leaders to force a quick surrender.
@@kakerake6018 THE WHOLE POINT OF IT IS AS A HYPOTHETICAL WAR OH MY GOD It's really, REALLY obvious that if Singapore gets US support they'll win but its isn't 'Singapore and US vs Malaysia' it's just Singapore and Malaysia
geez it's just a video guys. In reality anything could happen, Singapore might win, Malaysia might win, or it could be a stalemate and both countries enters into a peace agreement. No need to get hostile with each other over a war that will never happen. Malaysia and Singapore have great relations with each other and I don't see in any way, a war could break out between the two countries. So embarassed with triggered Malaysians and over-patriotic singaporeans in the comments smh.
Okay, I'm getting tired reading some of the comments here. So, if you people had not realize it yet, this is a scenario, not an actual declaration of war. It's not as if Malaysia would actually declare war on Singapore, Binkov's just making assumptions - with a very specific types of rules - IF a hypothetical war does happen. Not the actual war itself, nor it's cause. And as for the "Call allies" argument some people may rant about in the comments, Binkov clearly mentioned in the start of the video that "No allies are involved" or something similar to that. Again, of does not necessarily imply that they - Singapore and Malaysia - would have no allies whatsoever. But this video is simply depicting a plausible scenario of “IF” these two Nations declare war, with no allies, who would've the bigger the possibility of achieving victory. Please, know the difference. And lastly. This is a video, made by the same guy who made the video about Russia and China fighting the Us to kick them out of Japan. It's not entirely accurate when it comes to actual alliances and diplomacy. But I do have to give props to Binkov for doing a thorough research for each and everyone of his scenarios, as they are all well made, and somewhat believable.
During ww2 LT Adan and the Malay regiment sacrificed themselves to defend against the Imperial Japanese. if Malaysia and Singapore go to war, wouldnt his sacrifice be wasted?
This is just a tougue-in-cheek video, not to be taken seriously. If SG and MY go to war, both will be crippled badly. No sensible person or politician wants that. There's absolutely no reason for SG and MY to go to war, since we are virtually of the same racial stock and mix. SG and MY do not have some long historical enmity, and going to war is simply too far-fetched. And after WW2, most nations have learnt that it is far better to live in peace with each other.
@@IDK-fv3hu which is why we still quarrel over it. IMO malaysia has better Nasi Lemak, but we have better chicken rice. Still, we won't go to war over that
A lot of you are probably watching this channel for the first time and talk about how implausible this scenario is, about how 'my country would totally level your country' and other varying levels of patriotic chest thumping. I can mostly agree with you, but the videos here always carry the implied disclaimer (though Binkov doesn't always make this explicit) that, unless explicitly stated: - Alliances of any kind are ignored - Troop morale is ignored - History, internal politics and overall geopolitics is also ignored These are all just purely speculational and do not in any way reflect the channel's views or politics.
The Ordinary Dude a.k.a BABiFun like I said, it's SPECULATION, ignoring politics and common sense, and focused STRICTLY on military, logistics, and geography.
The focal point of Malaysia's defence used to be up north near Thai border during the communist insurgency. There's more overlapping claim in eastern Sabah than anywhere in the Peninsular. Singapore isn't priority.
Also Malaysian army did not even position their troops and equipment despite being the attacker in this scenario which doesn't make sense even for Russian army unless the Malaysian leadership are too stupid to declare war without proper mobilization, and even waiting to be invaded by Singapore
I tasted nasi goreng when I go to Indonesia working together with their marine and costrad/kostrad (sorry for the costrad thing I forget how to pronounce that unit) and they said "nasi goreng are their national dishes same as nasi pidang"

My god these comments. Half of them are just butthurt Malaysian and Singaporeans talking about allies and how it’ll never happen. This is all theoretical. He’s not saying they’ll go to war, he’s just implicating the strategies and outcomes IF a war were to happen (which is highly unlikely)

Yeah in the event of a war neither side would really win. Singapore would most likely win in the short term with superior equipment and being able to mobilise most of its forces quickly (unless it was a preemptive strike by Malaysia taking Singapore by surprise) whereas Malaysia's forces are spread out. Singapore won't be able to actually hold and secure that much land taken from Malaysia and it would end in a stalemate with Singapore holding a buffer zone to protect the main city-state while Malaysia taking a major blow to its forces from the initial attack and unable to (immediately) push Singapore back. With the trade route cut off for being a war zone both Singapore and Malaysia would take a huge blow to their economies (Singapore even more so). Instead what would most likely happen is that both Singapore and Malaysia would become the playground for other major countries to step in and take advantage with the justification of their trade being affected (the Malacca Strait) and both Malaysia and Singapore would lose even more (for example China would likely seize the opportunity to intervene and then the US would also step in to counter China and so on.). So yeah, war between Malaysia and Singapore is highly unlikely and stupid and both sides would take every measure to prevent it from happening in the first place.
@Aiman Shaw yes, in long term war. We might be have no best in Tech military with cold war equipment but we have enough Manpower to fight back. Starting small war like Guerilla war here and there and the military flank em. Destory the water supplies line will cripple Singapore, and their citizen will start a riot here and there.
I did not see this coming. Anyways, there will be devestation on both sides as many singaporeans and malaysians have family on both sides, not to mention some coming from malaysia to go to school/work in singapore.
Kinda crazy to see such a small place like Singapore has such a strong military. I mean, the whole country is basically a city yet they have F-15s, tankers, AWACS, the works.
Both leaders are economy-driven. A war will badly affect the economy and the leaders themselves will be voted out in the coming elections. In my opinion, no war for at least 100 years. Any matter required to be resolved, both nations will resolve by diplomatic means or last resort bring it to international court for judgement. Additional information, 300k Malaysian working in Singapore and declare war is certainly suicidal for any leaders. Malaysian leaders killing their own people or Singaporean leaders deprive themselves skill labours. Don't see any win win situation in war for both parties. Peace man!
Ummm, that’s basically suicide if it is open air and no cover. Singapore is so small a medium sized nuke can take out a quarter to half of the country, with fallouts, shockwaves, etc

@DL2R you're in the wrong place if you're looking for a serious discussion about geopolitics.. even if we are talking on binkovs channel. Edutainment at best. The human factor is difficult to estimate and depends on context. Is the country going to be invaded? Are our interests going to be affected? All the more reason to fight or else there'll be nothing left. Training standards are deliberately set lower than other professional armies like the USA and UK as the SAF is a conscripted army. It is dependent on public support and each training death is one too many. During a period of tension perhaps the training tempo will be ramped up? Will the conscripts match up to the professionals of an opposing force? Who knows.

The presentation of this battle is amazing. Data for the Singaporean forces and probable actions by them do make sense. However, the start of this conflict seems off. As you mentioned that Malaysia would be offensive to take control Singapore, but the simulation shows that Malaysia was not even ready to begin with all their troops were not even positioned for offensive operation prior to the operation. If Malaysia was planning to take Singapore, wouldn't the simulation should start with Malaysian troops and assets well positioned in offensive manner as necessary? Anyway, the video is great :)
After seeing the video, I can agree on what you said. The presentation shows as if Malaysia just out of the blue declared war on Singapore without any preparation whatsoever, it's like they mistakenly pressed a button that declared war
@@BABiFun Actually I was kinda surprised to see of how this hypothetical/simulation of war was presented. I've watched almost all Binkov's videos so far and yet this is the first time I see such odd and inconsistent presentation of his. Maybe Binkov forgot that Malaysia was set to attack first? and another part is the Malaysian fighter jets are SU-30MKM. By review of expert, the jet is highly capable with high maneuverability but Binkov marked it as (Mediocre).
@@aidenschavell3218 ah yeah that too, I was kinda surprises as to how that plane is marked as is. But then again, the artillery alone will deal enough damage to the airfield that it could disable most if not all Singaporean planes within the beginning of the escalation
The simulation should be Malaysia trying to conquer Singapore, but not a single preemptive strike is made by Malaysia. Suddenly the "attacking" Malaysia forget about cutting supply lines through land & sea. They simply wait for Singapore to invade. Who is conquering who then?? And even marked SU-30MKM as mediocre by simply putting it as same as SU30 is just unacceptable when it is practically on par with SU35. Then treating a PT91 as the same spec as a T72 and placing it as mediocre.
Because in any sort of scenario where war was on the table, Singapore would strike first. SG watches Malaysia closely, and any movement of Msian assets to Johor are next to hide from SG intel, human and electronic. In our mutual history, SG always mobilized first and sent the terse messages. Malaysia will not mobilize first as SG will interpret that as a prelude to war, and strike first if the message to stop is unheeded
Its all started when Malaysia as the biggest producer of Palm Oil running of land to be sacrificed. Then those big INVESTORS come. And the general said "welcome". Since then Indonesia became no.1 and Malaysia no.2. Still Singapore have some rich people with some sleep fund ready to be invested.
@Gavin Lim thanks for that information i didn't know we asked India. That some new to me. My eldest brother also been called up to Thailand to stop the Vietnam coming in the place called Ayanraprathe in Thailand.
Malaysia and Singapore would help fight together but not against each other. We are family after all... When war comes, we support each other. All conflict are just verbal, it will be resolved.
Malaysia will not attack Singapore because both are culturally, economically, socially integrated, alot of Malaysian works in Singapore and alot of Singaporean lives in Malaysia, both country depends on each other economically, Singapore need the resources from Malaysia and Malaysia needs intellectuals and investment from Singapore.
It would take a lot of effort for to make the 2 countries go to war. Singapore knows it can't hold Johor, and Malaysia knows it can't hold Singapore. That's why they split in the first place. Citizens on both sides are also very anti war. Unlike ALL their other neighbors in South East Asia, both nations have never elected militarist factions and have never been led by one. They are more likely to ally with one another to check their neighbors. Singapore bringing in an advance standing army, with Malaysia providing strategic depth.
If it really came into an armed conflict it would probably due to disputed islands and maritime territories. So far the Pedra Branca Island issues is resolved as Malaysians built military installations on Middle Rocks which is near to Pedra Branca that is controlled by Singaporean navy. And yes, there are 'other' islands that is within Malaysian territory but is handled by Singaporean authorities. Not sure one day Malaysian government is starting to take back these islands and demand control over her southern neighbors.
Good Strategic Analysis & Studies, Good Work Mr. Binkov, you are a talented Military Strategy Analyst. If and only if a war starts between Malaysia and Singapore... most likely both will lose, and there is absolutely no reason why Malaysia & Singapore need to enter a war ^^ However, if it do happen, Both Sides will lose badly... Singapore & Malaysia Culture are so much knitted and integrated, it's so common to have Malaysians working in Singapore and vice versa, even have family and kids across the borders... so, it's kind of hard to have War... maybe some political squabbles, but it's really unlikely.
Tl:dr: Singapore has the upper-edge if it takes a first strike doctrine and make it a short war; Malaysia has the upper-edge if it is able to draw out the conflict and make it a long war.

First of all, Malaysia is not interested to go war with Singapore when a significant portion of Singaporeans have family or blood-ties with Malaysians especially the Malays. I like this kind of video from Binkov. However, his thought experiment (at least in this video) is only focused on three traditional domain (land, sea, air) and not include the other, equally important, two (space, cyber). Why he didn't include it, maybe he knows nothing about the opposing nations' capabilities of these other two domains. Maybe it would make the analysis more complex. Maybe he don't really know about these other domains and as such omitted it.

China already tolerate those courntries. It is not our fault since we found those islands first in hundreds years ago. And china is not interested in others territory. If you konw the langfang repubilc you will understand this. Langfang republic was established by chinese people in kalimantan and Chinese emperor reject them to be part of china. ln addition, the rise of china can also be benefit to local ethnic chinese in malaysia.
Although you are a malaysia citizen and you must be loyal to your nation chinese people in malaysia still have little political right.
@Beng Liew Lim
@Beng Liew Lim
Tbh tho, the militaries of both countries are built for different purposes.

After all. We're brothers and look out for each other.
Better if ASEAN vs China. This what I wanna see.

Singapore outspend Malaysia in defence by a factor of 2 for decades. The result is obvious.

Fellow sinkie here. Technology is only half of the equation. The other half is whether our soldiers have superior motivation, morale and training. Having served ns I have serious doubts about the human factor..

Malaysia will not mobilize first as SG will interpret that as a prelude to war, and strike first if the message to stop is unheeded

war between us is stupid. both nations needed each other to thrive.
Should I tell you that this is just a "What If" situation not some political shits
I think most of us know that.
But the comment section somehow became a warzone.
I'm from Batu Pahat, Johor. Sultan Johor have many armed forces💪

In war, everyone is a loser. The citizens will ultimately suffer the most.
Except that Singapore's army is a deterrent force composed mainly of its reservist citizens. Singapore is so small they are not in it to fight or win wars. Their sole purpose is to tell you what you stand to lose if you ever invade them. Their citizens are basically given training to be ready to take arms and fight for their country if Malaysia ever invaded them, and they will go down dying along with millions of Malaysians. Win or lose, Singapore will not let its country be walked over. And that is the definition of a deterrence. If push comes to shove, why are you talking about citizens suffering?
