Japan should establish Foreign Legion branch for Weeb and Weaboo alike. We would fight for our Holy land!

Honestly they should do that now because they’re facing a manpower shortage. They could easily create at least a regiment of fit enough weebs to hold onto important areas.
@ By important areas, they would likely be station near the danger zone like coastal. The Japan Higher up would consider use them as expendable forces. And here they, the weaboo in particular thought they would be stationing at Akihabara all day long.
Nah, I love my life. I wouldn't even fight for my own country, why would I go to another country to fight their war? I'm going to a small peaceful island country in a time of war.
Well, the myth of the Russian army has been shattered by themselves. The reputation they built up and road since WWII has come crashing down in weeks. So the newest information says no they couldn't take or hold any country with decent size.
Plus it's monumentally difficult to take an island by force under any circumstances. I doubt very much that Russia could get large numbers of troops across the Japanese Sea to Japan in the first place.
I feel like there's a pretty big misunderstanding in some comments of the scale between these two in a longer term war footing. Maybe because Russia is geographically huge and people equate it to the Soviet Union. Japan has 126 million people Russia has 145 million Japan's GDP is $4.9 Trillion with 5.2 trillion PPP(-basically how much a dollar buys inside the country) Russia's GDP is 1.7 Trillion with 4.0 Trillion PPP That means that despite the standing Russian military being much bigger than other countries of its size, in a long term war they're much closer than they seem with Japan's massive nominal GDP advantage allowing it to buy much more outside materiel than Russia while Russia can rely on its internal territorial resources to make up the difference. This is not David vs Goliath unless Russia can somehow finish the war without nukes before Japan can leverage its much more automated economy and mobilize it's much more compact population to parity.
Japan has a major strategic weakness. It has very few natural resources. It's GDP relies entirely on getting oil and raw materials from outside Japan. Russia could throttle Japan's industries by setting up an exclusion zone round Japan and attack all shippings within the zone. It does not have to be 100% watertight. Just the threat alone would intimidate a large portion of commercial shippings. Furthermore, Russia could use its planes and submarines to lay mines along major sea lanes. All these would force Japan to commit its naval assets to form convoys and mine countermeasures. Once Russia is able to relocate its naval and air assets to the east and consolidates its strangling hold on its economic warfare against Japan, the war is unlikely to favor Japan from then onwards. It was the same strategy used by the US against Japan in WW2. Japan simply cannot defend itself against Russia without allies.
@@PumpkinEater-dm1xx If the Russians had learnt their lession in the Russo-Japanese War, they would do what the Americans have done in WW2. They would concentrate their efforts in destroying Japanese merchant shippings, ports and Japanese economic infrastructure. Most of Russia's industries are located far west in Europe, out of reach from virtually all Japanese weaponry while Russia's economic warfare could hurt Japanese economy directly. With this kind of strategic disparity, which is similar to what happened in WW2, Japan simply can't win without allies.
@@PumpkinEater-dm1xx Remember the Kurils? now under Russian control... Japanese lost to the soviets during ww2... ww1 is over, we are in the future... Japan's army can't win against the Russians, Japan is behind Russia in war techs and missles. the Guy had a point, Russia will not give away their islands just like that.
Japan rely heavily on US support. without US support Japan is in a very dangerous place militarily. No nuclear arsenal, even if they had nukes their cities are so concentrated, that it wont survive an exchange of nuclear warheads.
After seeing the non nuclear Russian Army and Aerospace Force fail so badly in Ukraine, It looks like Japan could easily take back the Northern Territories lost at the end of WWII. For sure, Russia will have almost nothing to stop Japan. And Japan is re-arming to confront China, so a little dustup against an exhausted Russia might be good training for a resurgent Japan. ...time will tell.

There's not a single country in Europe that could take Russia, assuming there's no allies of course. Russia is best on the defensive and Ukraine is actually getting stomped right now, there only oil refinery was destroyed. I could go on why Russia is actually winning and Ukraine is losing. Maybe you also forgot things like Ukraine had been prepared for years and had better prep time, they kept getting supplied anti tank weaponry and overall are getting help from basically several major superpowers while Russia, for the most part, isn't getting as much as help. I think you also forgot that being on the defense has historically proven more effective and easier. The Russians aren't motivated, but if someone does try to attack and take their land, they'll fight till their last breath.
They would have to be mad to invade Japan, even if The US was factored out of the equation. If they thought the Ukrainians were vicious, the Japanese will fight for every single inch of their land and die for it.
The Japanese are a lot weaker culturally and demographically than they were in WW2. The willingness to fight and die for the emperor is one of the things which there has been considerable effort to undermine and also the are large groups of anti war opponents (who are fanatical and thus will undermine the public interest no matter what and left wing traitors (the communists and socialists who are both entrenched in the education system and have a history of doing nasty stuff like covering for the North Koreans when there were suspicions about people going missing along the coasts). A large part of the population is elderly and unlike in other countries there aren't even going to have ever had military training, Japan will have a lot less to make up troop numbers than the population size would suggest. The one thing which might be good is production, there is already a work culture of working yourself to death without complaint and most people are reasonably clever and know how to work together and take orders so production would probably go a lot smoother than most would think possible for such a challenge and in a timeframe which would leave western experts baffled. They would just have issue finding the men to use the equipment who aren't one foot in the grave or totally apathetic.
@@vorynrosethorn903 russia's logistics collapsed in a country right next to their industrial and political heartland connected by nice flat terrain, now they have to pull off the biggest amphibious invasion since d day and do so from SIBERIA of all places. @@lepepelepub12 I wasn’t saying they’d lose, considering Russia’s policy on nukes and Japans lack of a deterrence the war likely wouldn’t start in the first place. I was responding to the idea that fight like the Japanese of WW2 did, even if the cultural context was not fundamentally different the capability would be inhibited by the fact that a large portion of the population would be unfit to fight. Ultimately the context is different however, in 1945 the Japanese had been at war for 14 years and had been steeped in Emperor deification, state shinto and militarism for 70 years. The school system drilled into them that death was better than dishonour and life lighter than a cherry blossom, adults in their live including their parents would also affirm it. There was military style training from a young age and even the school uniforms were based on military uniforms (Prussian for boys, sailor for girls), on top of this the population was young, vigorous and confident, the birth rate was high so each generation grew and the elderly were cared for within the traditional family unit (though care for might be a western way to put it as they were often the ones at the top of the family hierarchy and at the very least were accorded considerable respect). The two societies were in some ways mirror images of one another. I know I might have made it sound a bit romantic but the cost of the old system was in human life and it had negative aspects like being terminally stupid in it’s fanaticism, dealing with people on intentions too much (it doesn’t matter if someone professes loyalty to the state, if they don’t follow orders then they are impediment to its aims and should be punished) and having a culture of political assassination. An actual war between japan and Russia might be worthwhile so long as Japan gets nukes first so it can call Russias bluff, the northern territories are mostly of strategic worth but Sakhalin has oil reserves which would make it worth the price in blood considering how resource poor japan is. The fact that many of the professional troops are off getting killed and the Japanese have local naval superiority so it be a probable bet. Japan would do less well if it wanted to take more than islands and China would probably be the main threat throughout. A limited war followed by consolidation would be the only plan feasible from the start however. Though it would do little to deal with the much greater existential threats to the nation.
You forgot that the JMSDF are currently in the process of modifying one of the Helicopter Destroyers to be able to house F-35s, making it an aircraft carrier, its also ironically named JS Kaga.

After seeing how things are going for Russia in Ukraine, it is official that if Russia were to face a country equal to it in technology it would get stomped. I can see that Poland alone could take on Russia now. Japan? Russia would get curb stomped.
Funny enough, before the Russian invasion, I was under the impression and even argued with a German friend of mine that the present Bundeswehr (often considered a joke in terms of readiness among NATO militaries do to being deprived of funding since reunification) would get curbstomped by the 2014 Russian army. After what everyone is witnessing in Ukraine, I think it's fair to say we have all overestimates the Russian military. I think Japan would win by taking and holding the Kuril Islands. Japan probably can't attack Russia, but they can easily take the Islands that belong to them anyways.
Surprisingly Russia has logistical problem in Ukraine. Ukraine soldiers easily listen to their communication radio and cut their supply line. Against Japan, Russia would have more more difficulties.
Most they can pull off is have a bloody fight with the japanese on the northern islands, maybe land a few hits on hokkaido.. and thats it. SAM wall too strong on the eastern side of Honshu.
Imagine Russia couldn't even take Ukraine's cities after 50 days. Geographically Ukraine is one of the easiest country to invade but still their demilitarized army is winning against Russia.
Russia has to go nuclear on day 1 to win. Russia has no amphibious capacity and airborne assault cannot take and hold ground until relief force arrived. No air superiority mean you are dead meat.
@@WaspCameraInSpringfield Yes, ballistic missiles from land and sea would be more than enough. No air superiority needed unfortunately. That’s the horrifying thing about nukes. If they are ever launched in significant numbers there’s essentially no stopping them.

1) Japan is a significantly richer and industrial country than Russia ($1.5 trillion RU vs $5 trillion JP) 2) Japan ranks #4-5 militarily with a very modern and advanced navy, airforce and defense system 3) Ukraine was ranked #22 (albeit with significant Western support) and Russia is struggling with them 4) Russia has big problems with logistics and maintenance in Ukraine, a neighboring country with a huge shared border whereas Japan is an island nation that is thousands of miles away from Russia’s main population increasing these logistics problems exponentially 5) Japan has a defense treaty with the US and houses 50k US troops and equipment, both which will increase immediately if Japan is invaded. 6) Japan will receive insane financial and most likely military support from Western countries just like Ukraine did, further boosting their capabilities. Conclusion: As long as we are talking about conventional warfare, no chance in hell.

I have been watching the Japanese re-arm and expand their forces for several years now. Honest opinion... attacking Japan will be a big mistake by anyone. The Japanese have been extra careful with all of their work and are not going to be making many mistakes on any field they are forced to fight on. -Q
I'm seeing a lot of folks saying that U.S. involvement would prevent this conflict from happening. We may only hope so: I have great respect for the Russian people and for the Japanese (on one of whose islands I spent most of my childhood). Binkov is trying to simplify the scenario to make it easier for those of us who like to contemplate such scenarios in isolation, so making those assertions runs counter to the little wargame we are playing. It's a thought experiment. If you're going to drag the U.S. into it, why not all the other regional powers, too? That will certainly affect any outcomes in ways that are much harder to predict.
The USA would never give up the jewel in its economic slavery crown without a fight. After waiting nearly 100 years for the fortuitous good luck to own Japan and enslave its people the US couldn't afford to see Japan freed of their yoke on it. The big question here is does the Japanese think an alliance with another super power could make them a soverign country again and give them their freedom ??? The games being played out by China the master of the long war might end up surprising the USA.
Actually, it would be much easier to predict. The ccp is still too weak to fight the entirety of east Asia, let alone America. They know that too, and would be the most likely to stay put. Even if they didn't, their main fleet was designed in the 70s, with 50s technology. Politically, there is no contest. There is no way russia or the ccp could survive for long, since the EU is China’s greatest market, and their cash comes from the USA. The ccp also has its elite living mostly in the US, so they have a LOT to lose.
After Russia’s flagship Moskva was sunk by an Ukrainian made subsonic missile, there is no doubt that Russia’s military in all three branches are overhyped. Japan would sink the entire fleet no problem.
I actually think vs an actual navy they have a chance to do better as the Russian ships and especially their subs are designed to target large warships but yeh 1970s and 1980s warships with poor maintenance and sketchy modernisation vs mostly 2000s and newer warships with actual modernisation is never going to go well.
@@CoolCraftCool you aren’t getting my point, if a flagship level cruiser got sunk by Ukrainian made missile then it is even more likely for Japan, which has more advanced defense capabilities to inflict damage on Russia. what Ukraine is doing to the Russian army will be done tenfold by the Japanese.
@@YFun-ux5rs No I got it what i'm saying is there is every chance the Russians were not looking for Ukrainian attacks as there is no fleet to contend with and were just content to monitor standard Radar for planes and attack helicopters. A low flying anti ship missiles were not a capability that Ukraine were able to field even a few years ago so its possible they haven't taken the possibility seriously; then again it could be like a lot of the land vehicles that poor maintenance meant that the more advanced systems were not even available even if they had want to keep them active or its also possible that the system strait up failed to do its job I haven't seen anyone willing to make a guess as to which yet. But taking all that aside having an actual fleet to shoot at which is again what the Russian fleet is built to do they would probably perform better doing what they were designed to do rather than what they were not designed to do.

2022 says no, they can't.
Well, the myth of the Russian army has been shattered by themselves. The reputation they built up and road since WWII has come crashing down in weeks. So the newest information says no they couldn't take or hold any country with decent size.
Which is weird as they have never succeed after WWII
Now we know the answer. Russia cant even take on a poor Europe country I doubt they can take on Japan
Japan has 126 million people
Russia has 145 million
Japan's GDP is $4.9 Trillion with 5.2 trillion PPP(-basically how much a dollar buys inside the country)
Russia's GDP is 1.7 Trillion with 4.0 Trillion PPP
That means that despite the standing Russian military being much bigger than other countries of its size, in a long term war they're much closer than they seem with Japan's massive nominal GDP advantage allowing it to buy much more outside materiel than Russia while Russia can rely on its internal territorial resources to make up the difference.
This is not David vs Goliath unless Russia can somehow finish the war without nukes before Japan can leverage its much more automated economy and mobilize it's much more compact population to parity.
Or actually it is David vs Goliath and David has a constant supply of rocks and a tree fort.

Exactly
Under command of general Godzilla
They would have to be mad to invade Japan, even if The US was factored out of the equation. If they thought the Ukrainians were vicious, the Japanese will fight for every single inch of their land and die for it.
You are right
The Japanese are a lot weaker culturally and demographically than they were in WW2.

@@vorynrosethorn903 you are brainwashed.

But taking all that aside having an actual fleet to shoot at which is again what the Russian fleet is built to do they would probably perform better doing what they were designed to do rather than what they were not designed to do.
they couldnt defeat Ukraine despite overwhelming superiority in everything, japan would clean their clock.
Revisiting the comment section after seeing Russia’s performance in Ukraine
Yeah , Russia is having a hard time against Ukaraine. I don’t think they can invade anyone without risking being defenseless against NATO.
@@itsupportpropertymasters1679 they are not having a "hard time" they are absolutely wiping out ukraine as we speak, they have gained far more ground than US did in Iraq per day.
@@anarchyorslavery1616 lmao
If the condition of Russian navy can be judged by the condition of their army,
They'd sail out of of Vladivostok ... and sink straight down.
My bet the ships will sink in the harbour.
@@natanaelvandijk2027 they'll sink in dry dock 🤣
In order to win, Japan would have to bomb their ports and bases before Russia can gather their forces. Wait...this sounds familiar.
shit got real they just awoke the motherland (6800 NUKES)
4 countries you never try to invade and occupy: US, Russia, Japan, and Vietnam
Especially Vietnam
True
why Japan? Soviet invade and occupy Japan in 3 weeks.
@@trololoev Because the US will show up and defend it
@@nathans3815 along with NATO becuase America got involed.
Lol why include Vietnam? They are easily to invade.
This video hasn’t aged well. After the Russian Debacle in Ukraine, this video is kind of redundant.
Id like to see an african country conflict video... Like could Kenya hold off an Ethiopian invasion? Or something like that
Maybe democratic Republic of congo vs congo
Or, would the UK be able to invade Norway within 1 year?
Another detail about any invasion against Japan is the terrain. Have you looked at an elevation map of that country?

Simple answer... no it can't. It can't even take Ukraine and Japan has a good military with high tech equipment plus usa has military bases all over Japan
Looks like Russia will have to hand over Kuril Islands...
Russia: it will be easy comrades
Japan bringing out the laser samurais: *omae wa mou shindeiru*
They lost to japan in 1910 already
Did you take japanese farmers into account?
I was going to say, if they have tractors, Russia would be in big trouble.
It's be Tsushima Strait 2.0. The Ghost of Togo returns
Who else came here because of tensions over Kuril Islands while russia is losing a war in Ukraine?
I want to see Hawaii fight Saudi Arabia.
Or Antarctica fight Bulgaria.
Unfortunately Antarctica and Hawaii are not countries
But Antarctica would always enjoy a victory because it would suffer zero casualties while the opponent will suffer loses
You forgot to mention those cute girls that are equipped with rocket launchers and a robot.

Oh and the teenage girls in robotic suits
Also Ice cream pizza.

Russia's having problems in a war in which the railways run from Russia to the battle field. Japan, last time I looked, is an island.
Based on Ukraine. Absolutly no chance.
I don’t think so, if Russia cannot take down Ukraine, than no way they can take Japan
Let's face it, if Japan wants the Kuriles back, what's Russia going to do about it?
As long as russia doesn't nuke them. Might be something for them to realistically look forward to negotiating after putin is gone.
Absolutely nothing, they got a small taste of western military hardware and they don't like what they are seeing.
The same thing they did in 1904... Send a fleet fighting fisherman on the way and shooting themselves while doing it. The Russo-Japanese War was the funniest thing I've ever heard about.
