Binkov didn't say that this attack was likely. It seems that he just wanted to examine China's ability to project air and sea force. Sounds like Singapore needs some more submarines.
Singapore's problem has always been a total absence of strategic depth. It doesn't have the territory to conduct a tactical withdraw, much less a strategic one. Imagine boxing at the edge of a diving board.
@@gorilladisco9108 I believe common analogy would be a very hard shelled egg. Singapore likely is more dependent on diplomacy than anything else. I suspect the military functions mainly to buy time for international outrage to develop.
These scenarios ignore a few basic facts known to anyone who has spent a few years in Singapore. 1) Singapore has compulsory National Service - virtually all men do a year or two of active duty and then two weeks every year until they reach a certain age. The urban planning in the city state is done very much with Civil Defense needs in mind.. The SDF training includes elements like advancing into the bordering areas of Malaysia, to create buffer zones there and bases for prolonged guerilla. 2) Singapore hosts a US Navy supply base and most probably an attack on Singapore will be treated as an attack on the United States. 3) Singapore keeps much of its Navy and Airforce assets outside the country, in Australia and New Zealand, partly to facilitate training, but more importantly, to mitigate the risk of a sudden destruction. These assets which include submarines will remain in the fight and will likely paralyze any shipping through the Malacca Strait for an extended period. In other words, short of a nuclear strike or a D-Day type amphibious landing, there will be no blitzkrieg in Singapore.
Aren't there many ethnic Chinese in Singapore also? Why would they invade and probably kill/maim many of their own people? Similar to Taiwan also, maybe a reason an invasion has not been launched there yet. Many in the west don't realise launching an invasion purely on ideological/political grounds without any more deep-seated considerations is nigh on impossible...and the leaders of the invaders would have to justify to themselves and their senior lieutenants that there's an almost perfectly rational reason for doing it (no while publicly they may appear as yes men you can bet there would be many disputes behind closed doors, which appears even more so in PRC where Politburo appointments etc. would be done through negotiations rather than decree, fair to assume similar consultations would take place before any major military operation).

I think it would have a lot of views considering lot of people there.
I agree, and it will definitely grant the SEA a much better fighting chance. Islands all over the place and thicker jungles both natural and concrete in the whole region means ASEANs can make extreme use of Defense-in-depth
@@kingofchebureki3448 Perhaps. It would definitely be a completely different kind of conflict than an attack limited to Singapore. To everyone who says that the US would most likely invade Singapore, note that the US is one of Singapore's largest defence suppliers. So no, the US would probably not invade Singapore. The real concern is India and China, mostly due to the strategic location of the Malacca and Singapore Straits, which allows quick access to the Indian Ocean. Would China invade Singapore? Yeah, it is possible. Malaysia is also caught in that crossfire, and has conducted naval drills, which are "totally not a message to China".

If the PRC sent a force to attack Singapore, they’d be detected by the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam early on. Then they’ll warn the rest of SEA, the US, and Australia. Next move is we see a coalition fleet gathering to meet up with the SEA Navies to push back the PRC attack.
Its literally impossible nor impractical to actually even imagine such scenario... Considering this small island does have a visible impact towards the economy of PRC especially in Suzhou economic zone... Singapore is literally an island of neutrality and forms cooperation ( I try avoid the word *alliance* ) with almost every nation
Singapore is deep inside South East Asia. If China wants to invade Singapore, they have to go through Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia territorial sea. And there are no guarantee that Thailand and Cambodia will not get involved too.
I think all China needs to do is send over a million or more tourists at the same time and Singapore will surrender or any other country for that matter.
Singapore's hotels and airport can't handle a 25% increase in the population all at once (they are already desperately trying to reclaim the land from the sea to expand the island inch by inch as it is) and they are very intolerant of people sleeping on the streets homeless, that strategy would never work.
I accept this as a purely theoretical tabletop exercise. In reality, in the event of relations between China-SG deteriorating until the point of war (which... Is extremely unlikely) our neighbours have a greater reason to not want a PRC occupied Singapore, hence there is no way they would not be involved in such a conflict. That alone would mean they'd be attacking the entire ASEAN region rather than just the smallest island nation sandwiched in between two ASEAN giants. Whether out of an alliance obligation or pure opportunism, it would be hard to imagine the US would stand idly by. I don't see why war would be a realistic option for the Chinese to take Singapore, they really just have to invest until they own a lot of it
Singapore's military are hardly meant to stop a committed superpower the likes of China or US. It has a far more different strategy to deter such an aggression from happening in the first place. But in a hypothetical scenario, Singapore is the best equipped SE Asian nation to actually do some decent damage on China's military. It will never be enough to stop a full invasion, however.
@BlackBannerz banzai attacks are only done as a last resort and the Singapore army possess long range weapons such as the SSPH Primus and Himars that could take out an entire Malaysian army in a few strikes

Also, usually S-400 are covered by Pantsir, Thor, S-350 systems.

A more likely scenario is how China will deal with all the US military installation within it's surrounding countries like the ones in Japan, airbases in S. Korea, and Philippines, and several others surrounding China e.a Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
In a decade, we probably won't have military installations in Asia at all, except for a few places like Guam and Diego Garcia. The past few American Presidents have actually been encouraging Japan to get rid of it's pacifist doctrines because we are going to leave.
They can attack US bases using their ballistic missiles. The Chinese don't need to destroy the bases, they just need to slow the US down and put the bases out of action for maybe a week. They will want to harm as few American troops as possible to avoid provoking the US excessively.
The political cost to China would be great, since 74% of the population of Singapore is ethnic Chinese. Other countries in East Asia have substantial ethnic Chinese minorities.

Rather absurd, but entertaining scenario as always. I think one significant miss in this scenario is the role of the H-6K/H-6N bombers (I'm surprised Binkov mentioned H-6U refuelers, but not the bombers). They have sufficient combat radius to reach Singapore (SG), even if taking off from Hainan island. & they carry a bigger cruise missile/ALBM payload, relative to J-16s or JH-7As. In the initial phase outlined in this video, I think IRBMs & HGVs will be used for airfield bombardment to start, the 2 CVBGs will provide close air cover, due to their J-15s' proximity (& thus increased loitering time) over SG, as well as the availability of air defenses from the rest of the fleet, & the SCS based fighters (including J-20) will perform mop up to ensure air supremacy. H-6s will be providing not only refueling, but also deliver stand off cruise missiles to destroy or suppress SG air & naval assets.
There’s a video on Australia versus New Zealand Not every scenario is a crystal ball bro Besides, this wouldn’t be the first time Singapore had an East Asian sized problem, would it?
Is the aircraft comparison "accurate"? Are the chinese numbers meant for the whole of China or the aircraft allocated to the operational theater that will be in charge of attacking Singapore? The other fronts of China don't operate in a power vacuum do they?
He mentioned both the entirety of chinese airforce numbers, and the amount they can mobilize. China has around 2000 planes of various types. In a war with Singapore, it would be reasonable to assume that China can mobilize half of its Air Force to the war effort. That would be around 1000 airplanes of different capabilities. In this video, China will have trouble with logistics, which means about 100 planes can be deployed to Singapore from bases, and then 50 more from aircraft carriers. The J20s, which are the best Chinese planes, can probably be fully deployed to Singapore. Other Chinese fronts don’t need any J20s during peacetime. In terms of navy, it would be reasonable to assume China can mobilize its 2 carrier fleets, and the majority of its submarines. Chinese navy does have the most number of ships in the world. Obviously not as big as the US in tonnage, but certainly numerous enough to demolish Singapore. In my opinion, China will have a tough time organizing a naval invasion. Chinese navy did build many landing support ships and helicopter carriers, but it’s marine capabilities have never been tested in a real war. We will see if this is the case in part 2 of the vid.
I disagree. Singapore has conscription which can generate a lot of soldiers in a very short time. Unless China goes to a total war footing as well, the numbers are actually about even.
@@danielc2701 The problem isn't even the foot soldiers, it's the production. China's economy is literally 40+ times that of Singapore's, while manufacturing output is over 60 times. Without any significant help, Singapore would be quickly overwhelmed. Being a small coastal city-state with an area less than 300 square miles doesn't help. China could just easily send hundreds of bombers or thousands of cruise missiles to destroy Singapore air defenses and industrial capacity and scores of surface combatants to wipe out their navy and form a blockade, all while replenishing any assets lost to Singapore's military
@@solomonokoli212 You make it sound like it's easy to squeeze 1000 cruise missiles into the field, much less squeeze 100 bombers into an airfield. Talk is cheap, doing is hard. And talking about "economy" is useless unless you think you're going to throw money at the enemy. Logistics is the key and China will have one hell of a problem with logistics at that range. A division uses 5,000 tons of ammunition fighting a day and about 400 tons of food. PER DAY.

In reality, in the event of relations between China-SG deteriorating until the point of war (which...
There’s a video on Australia versus New Zealand
Not every scenario is a crystal ball bro
Besides, this wouldn’t be the first time Singapore had an East Asian sized problem, would it?
Can you update this to include what, if any, difference the five powers defence agreement would make?
Singapore is a city-state smaller than the New York Metropolitan area. Without any allied help, they would be annihilated sadly.
PER DAY. Singaporean military maybe weak against China, but it is still capable enough to defeat any ASEAN military
That's a very capable military for such a small county
Just want to clarify, having a military that doesn't serve deterrence and only for nationalism and national education doesn't mean it is not useful - it is. But it certainly can be rethought with budget reallocated to achieve the same results without needing to burn billions each year. Also, it's a government organisation that creates jobs for many who would otherwise not have jobs to perpetuate their toxic power hungriness and masculinity, and they certainly don't want that taken away.
@@danghoangluong2942 Wrong. Malaysia would easily crush us with numbers.
In fact, China will use missile not aircraft or airplane or submarine, but why war, think Singapore will be the last country China wanna declare war…
Maybe because Singapore is a break away province?. At this point China can declare any island as its own in Asia
@@annoyedcat9291 You sure you got the right country? Taiwan is the breakaway province, Singapore was a British outpost that got expanded into their large naval base, it was never owned by China ever. You missed by about 2,000 miles.
@@danielc2701 China claims 90% of the South China Sea, you might want to recheck your math. They may use ancient ties, map or Chinese population to justify Singapore as a Chinese city.
@@annoyedcat9291 You're just reaching for an excuse. Even during the Cold War the Chinese did not use that reason, much less now.
Singapore will be the last country China wanna declare war? This is an idea that the CCP will definitely like to promote. That way, when it does attack, it will be an easy victory.
Singaporean here.
Well if the PLA invades, we're pretty fucked if Malaysia is already defeated.
But we will definitely still fight nonetheless.
As a sultan army from johor we will protect our people and assist with your fight
@@deadman9323 Well yea. If China wants to invade Singapore, they'd definitely have to attack Johor as well.
@@leehongjin6884 yea our sultan has been once thinking to unite with Singapore once in 2018
Quite impressive defence for an island. I mean china would still win the war, but the number of losses needed to invade Singapore makes invading Singapore not really profitable. If Singapore gets fully invaded that means many things would already be destroyed in Singapore and they need to rebuild everything from scratch. Not to forget, they will have even more loss as asean would probably inavade china and attack china’s naval forces and Air Force.
To be really honest, I have my doubts that even China can win. These comparisons don't really show how terrible trying to fight in Singapore is. Even as an intellectual exercise, just one look at the huge number of buildings and the equally huge number of apartments you have to clear with door to door fighting is already enough to make me give up. It'll take a whole day and a whole company of men to just clear ONE building, it'll take at least months just to root everyone out of the whole island with casualties all the way.
No, going into Singapore is an idiotic thing to do. You either siege it out by starving/dehydrating them out or don't start a fight in the first place. Fighting in Singapore is just a fast way to commit suicide.
Unlikely, Singapore has F-16 F-15 and now F-35, their navy has modern vessels with Israeli Blue Spear missiles, lots of Israeli designed state of the art weapons.
Another problem with the fueling is if a fighter gets caught up. If it is unable to leave the area around Singapore, and slowly loses fuel, what does it do?
Just as unlikely as this scenario, please do one about what Singapore will do when US attacks.
@@AstrobumTV I would like to see him cover that too. If he wants to make up scenarios (and cause unwarranted panic among his viewers), I hope he not be biased. If China can be invaders, why not US or India or Australia?
@Zero_Requiem There are. There is a bunch of theoretical wars on this channel so why are you getting do angry. A wumao perhaps
@@nightwolf2546 1. I am not angry. I would like to know how US can invade Singapore. I would like to know how Singapore can stop the British military too.
2. I do not like how he decided on finding the most unlikely of foes while leaving out more likely scenarios like US attacking Palestine / Lebanon.
3. I do not like him coming up with exclusively pro-Western media situations when it comes to our region. China has always been an ally and friend to SEA. I would like him to come up with US as aggressors in the Asian region for a change.
4. Twice he had made Singapore look bad in his videos. To a Singaporean, it felt he had an agenda against us.
Many Singaporeans here are ignorant. Melayu cakap bodoh. China can attacked Singapore, not because we don't have anything. We do have something. Singapore is a strategic location for the whole of South East Asia.
1) They might attacked Singapore because US Navy have their temporary base here.
2) Singapore is the only route to go through straits of Melacca to Indian Ocean connected to India and the Middle East.
3) Singapore have the biggest port. We have 5 active airbase. We have 67 Available berth. Not include 3 military naval base.
So yes we are one Country that could potentially be one big fortress. With good defense and once called impregnable. Nobody wants Singapore? Think again.
@Yusamirul Putra Yusof We have things that other countries want but what for you wana say it out loud! one of J20's main role is to remove enemy Tankers and AWACS behind enemy lines by using stealth. 4 Singapore AWACS are not enough to face 40+ J20 in the first/second wave.
Chinese DF15C are ballistic missiles with bunker buster ability. They may not only only use cruise missiles as SRBM or MRBM are plentiful.
And enemy high value targets on ground.
There's a ton of Chinese investments in Singapore. I think this city is the Switzerland of South East Asia and the world in general. A lot of foreign businessmen live in Singapore. I think China would think twice before attacking this beautiful city.
Well this is just a "what if" scenario, like all other videos talking about Malaysia vs singapore🤣
People need to understand these videos are for entertainment. He even says it's unlikely especially with the US base there.
So what? US base there means other countries must be afraid? Of coz its unlikely to happen as China has never invade another external country in modern times, unlike the US.
@@Monkey341 Vietnam? Tibet? Taiwan? Uhigerstan?
Name one country the US has been to war with (unjustifiably) other than Iraq. Then name two more and we're tied and then 4 countries other than Iraq and you win. If not, shut up.
