    Mel, I started to notice you when you had your first TedTalks. I thought "One day she would make a Web series about people, perspectives and she will change a lot of people's minds and pre-judgment about the norms in life" and now I am at your Web series and I am so happy you made it here.       I admire her questions and advice. I also admire the fact that she doesn't give in to 'the show' of wearing high heels that she only wears on stage! I'm disappointed for her, AND all the people she could have helped, that her show was canceled.

    What the blond girl is describing with her EBM is what happens during a fight or flight response. When you get really anxious, your body prepares for a fight or flight, literally, and your bowels and bladder empty themselves. This happens to me every time I get really anxious. I always have to pee and poo immediately. In fact, that's one of the ways I know it's anxiety because all of a sudden my body is trying to evacuate in preparation for fighting/flight. All the symptoms of anxiety are related to this physical preparation. For example, the lightheadedness is when you start breathing very quickly and shallow to put a lot of oxygen into your muscles to be able to fight or run. But if that actual fight does not happen, then you will get lightheadeded. That's why it is a very good technique to go for a walk (not an anxious run - but a steady walk) to use up some of that energy and oxygen so your lightheadedness goes away.

      Check for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). That is exactly what lady number 2 has, whatever else she wanted to call it.

    I don’t think anxiety is abnormal. I think the world is. Do animals in nature have to worry about how to make money for food and housing. How to sustain this long term. Of course most people are just in survival mode all the time because of money. It’s not natural. We have animal bodies trying to cope in a weird environment.

      I agree. Maybe with the future robot 🤖 workforce people can include more leisurely time, than again the people with minimal job skills could be dealing with more stress and anxiety in the near future.

    I've had on going tension headaches for 3 years due to anxiety. Went from 3 a week to maybe 1 per month with the help of massage therapy for my neck and shoulders in additional to occasional muscle relaxers. Caffeine and alcohol make it worse too.

    It helps me to imagine best case/worst case scenarios. Once I realize that I can handle either situation, I can relax since what happens is almost always somewhere in the middle. Grandma crazy lady needs to understand diabetes--she's putting his well being at risk!

      Jo Swearingen exactly what I find myself doing so I feel comfortable Im aware of how bad it could be or how good it can be and won’t be caught off guard which is what really Messes me up. The idea of the Unexpected sends me into crazy anxiety

    I'm worried about Thanksgiving...😖 Its so stressful! The family and "friends" are judgemental & gossipy. I want to stay in bed all day and watch TV📺

      I did have this happen to me. I Findlay said No more! Refused to go back to in-laws house on Christmas eve. Almost broke up over it. I have had the best lay back Christmas eves ever.

      I didn't like this Christmas that much this year... rude people & a big dog that pounces on me all the time when I'm there. I guess they don't care if the dog jumps on me & dirtys my white jeans😕

    So relatable! My anxiety causes my stomach to be nauseous a lot! I feel like vomiting after eating. I drop weight fast and can’t gain weight. What has helped is eating something small and drink water in the morning before I have coffee. I limit coffee to one cup a day. Coffee can upset my tummy too so eating before helps. People think I have an eating disorder when really my tummy just feels terrible all the time. I have been tested for other stomach issues and they all come up negative.

    I didnt realised I had anxiety until I followed Mel's programme #mindsetReset in January 2019 wherr I also discovered that my anxiety caused my migraine..

    I have Autoimmune Hashimotos' (a thyroid disease) and anxiety runs hand-in-hand with Hashhimotos'. I have anxiety because my husband has early cognitive decline and has many needs and no long drives and depends on me for everything..Now I have anxiety becasue our condo community is experiencing flooding and we are the ground floor, add to that the recent COVID 19 (self-isolating, no monthly massage, no senior center social contact, yoga and exercise classes) and you have the perfect recipe for anxiety. My symptoms are lack of motivation, non-sleeping, waking in the night with claustrophobia, worrying about my husband and our future and money.

    Please do a show on women with autism. Many women are misdiagnosed with depression and anxiety disorders, when the root issue is that they are autistic. Most women (and their health care providers) struggle to find the proper diagnosis because there’s a lack of understanding of how autism shows up in women. Women cover up the symptoms via masking which can make it even more difficult to get the proper diagnosis because we have often taught ours how to make eye contact, make conversation and seem social. This masking often manifests itself in depression and anxiety, etc, as we struggle to hold it all together and function in a world that wasn’t designed for us. (Jaw clinching is a stim for many autistics, which can lead to physical symptoms like headaches and sore muscles.)

    Worry put you on edge all the time when it becomes fear than it can happen cause you open the door to it. Diet has a lot to do with it too much sugar lack of vitamin B & D
    And magnesium & lots of meditation lots of it your to do list should be no more than 4 things to a day don’t do multiple task TRY to get a hold of this learn to shut down your brain a half hour before bed
    You don’t want to go on meds !!!

    It would be good if you would recap the most important points, just like the 5 anxiety signs that you mention at the end. I also would much more enjoy if this was more educational then entertaining. There are enough of entertainment shows.     That doesn’t make sense. They get anxious and they get constipated! I have constipation issues due to thyroid issues. I have da opposite when I’m anxious which for me is pretty much 24/7. Especially when there are certain people calling me on da phone. One positive thing about having an anxiety attack helps to go to da bathroom. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I have anxiety. It’s both social and generalized. I have always had a hard time concentrating even before menopause. I worry a lot. But I think some of it is having had two Virgo parents and my sister. And it’s always what if with me. It’s so bad sometimes I can not open mail, make phone calls. Just to go to farmers market I get totally anxious

    I have continuous anxiety about missing my mom because we are going through the COVID 19 pandemic and the organization that my waver home is in is closed and I’m feeling anxiety because I can’t spend time with my mom. So Mel can you please help me?

    mine is bad enough that it wakes me up at night, heart pounding so hard I wake up, numbness in my arms, then up for a couple hours, I only get about 5 to 6 hours on the regular. And I get cramps all over my body most nights so bad I don't sleep anyways.

      Try Natural Vitality magnesium supplement. It’s a powder supplement for stress relief. I swear by it. I buy at a health food store. GNC will have it. I buy the raspberry-lemon flavor. Take it in the morning and bedtime. Love it!

    I'm struggling so badly at the moment I'm not even going to work, I feel like a failure I hate myself I have a dissertation and assignments to write.

      relax@ndchill I was able to find a counselor for myself. I tried 3 face to face and 2 online. I finally found the one! Sometimes I walk in with nothing to say and somehow I leave with a nugget of wisdom ;)

      Right after for me it's only recognize it they came together 😢
      Right now after years of having anxiety but I did know that was,
      I taught it was stress, but now I am on therapy I recognize it, I
      I have muscle pain headache, low energy negative thoughts
      Tired all the time, I am nervous, scared about everything, etc.
      Now I am taking 5 HTP , and feeling much better, thanks God💜

    That mother has a mental problem she needs to Google diabetes. She don't realize she is putting her grandson health and danger. If she continued to do that I would not allow my children to be with her I will not stand by and watch a kill my son no child need to eat that much candy. They all will be diabetic at one point in life.

    I really like Mel Robbins but the show is very similar to dr Phil show which in turn makes me cringe especially in the beginning when the guests are talking about their dilemmas and it all seems staged. Pls be more authentic with this program because it does really have a huge potential.

      Haha I agree. The overdramatic effects and music just kills the seriousness of the situations... I hope they can speak to the editor about it. We have enough cringe drama shows -- don't need another!

      It's not like Dr Phil. He gets a list and destroys people's psyche while giving some solid advice as well. Mel , however, has a bunch of everyday hacks that any one of us can use. She shots from the hip and is straight forward (with science backing her up) but with real compassion. She's an awesome human who doesn't capitalize on a person's issue's, like Dr Phil, she is genuinely trying to help people. Why would you watch just to criticize? If you are not benefiting from all the advice (you are a human aren't ya?), then maybe you should excercise your freedom to shut it off! When you're ready to actually grow as a human,...then and only then should you tune back in to Mel. You see what I did there, it's called emotional intelligence. Good luck. #HumanRace 🙏

      PS the studio audience are not actors, neither is Mel. That's what authentic genuine people look like knowing they're on tv and they're going to be seen (in their vulnerability). That's not easy to do. So judgemental, not becoming. #HumanRace 🙏

      I think you should reread my comment and the previous comment. You will find that we did NOT say anything negative about Mel Robbins (why would we? We are fans after all haha!) nor the audience. I however still think that the crew or editor (or whoever is responsible for the choice of effects and sounds) do not need to edit the episodes as though we are watching some drama show.
      I hope that clarifies the situation and prevents further word-throwing of "judgemental" and "watch just to criticize".

      The word "cringe" is what got me started. You are welcome to your opinion, however, writing certain words come with certain "meanings" assumed, or potentially misunderstood. But writing makes it difficult to gauge the person's actual tone, or emotion behind it, so the message gets lost in translation. In no way am I trying to offend, I apologize if I have. #HumanRace 🙏🥰

      Rather than even give "diabetic candy" she needs to listen to and support the healthy nutritional standards the mother has set. Personally, if the grandmother didn't immediately take all of Mel's advice, I'd have found a new caregiver for my kids and limited Grandma's time with the kids so I was always with them too. If g'ma continued to be so pushy... I'd go no contact. Mom doesn't need her children to think that Mom is second class to G'ma!!!

    Mel is too smart for this kind of show. Really trying to appeal to lowest common denominator. Really wish she had chosen a different format and different audience. C'mon man! We are inundated with this kind of bullshit.
