That’s very pretty. I like the clamshell shape and how nicely all the pieces fit together.

I am really inspired by your work. This clamshell tutorial has me finally attempting to use
    my template. Thank you!

I must admit when I have done clamshell I applique them to a backing fabric. Rather than paper I usually use a single-sided iron on interfacing. That way I don't have to remove the papers, which means the patchwork has extra stability.

That's such a great idea. I only ever used interfacing for dressmaking, but I am discovering it's many secret uses. I'm so glad I have some in my stash. What weight do you use?

@@featherstitchhouse Mostly lightweight, but I have invested in a pack of medium weight. I haven't tried it yet though as it only arrived (via Amazon) today. 😆

Thank you for sharing your process. I would like to respectfully ask you to watch Sue Daley Designs and her way of clamshell piecing. There is no sewing the concave fabric, and you only need to sew the points at the end of the curves together, she calls it "kissing the points". It is a 15 minute video that I know you will be surprised at the content. The process is quite fast as well. Thank you again.

@@lindak7499 thanks so much. I love learning new ways of doing things. I will definitely watch. We all just know he way we learnt until someone shows us something different. Thanks for watching.

That is roughly how I do it, except no papers, I use iron-on interfacing, which I leave in the clamshells. I must check out the instructions for the apple core as that one defeated me.
