Emma, I love all your videos and I want you to know that they are wonderfully calming for me. Besides being a fan of EPP and all things related to fabric, your channel has become a “safe space” on You Tube for me. If I’m feeling overwhelmed or unsure, I can pop on one of your videos, and it transports me to a very pleasant state of mind. You seem like a very sweet and kind person. Thanks for all your work! I’m looking forward to more to come ❤

I absolutely loved this video thank you for sharing you opened my eyes to brand new possibilities for jewel shapes! I’ve downloaded the pattern I can’t wait to get started 🥰
I've been working on a jewel project in reds and creams, in a star pattern, with a hexagon in the center of the short sides, then a larger hexi between all the stars. This is the first I've seen a video on jewels. Love it. Thank you Emma.
Yes I started off with a hexie quilt years ago. The jewels are something a little different. I love your little mini quilt so must have a look at that video, it is really pretty. Your work is so neat. Thanks for all the ideas Emma.
Am anxious to try this. Love the hearts and butterflies. As I listened to you I was wondering about putting a hexi in the middle and having the points facing out. Then you showed how you could make the star. Thank you. ❤❤❤❤❤
Such beautiful projects! I did purchase some jewel petals to try and am excited to see how they go. I love your endless ideas and your calm spirit that comes through your presentations! Thank you so much!
I have a lot of these jewel shapes as I love the idea of them but have found myself stumped once I got them. Maybe too many possibilities are hindering my decision making process. I thank you so very much for sharing this video with us! 💙 🤗
Ove your work Emma and the fact its mostly hand sewing as I don't have a machine. Your videos are so thorough and you explain everything and don't assume everyone knows the terminology as some of us are complete novices . Can you tell me the wright of wadding you use on your quilt as you go projects. Keep on being you your such an inspiration to me as well as all your viewers. Thank you for taking the time and putting in the effort for your videos so appreciated. Much love Sheena
It’s not a shape I like I’m afraid, I like thinking of nice things while I’m stitching and I think all I would think about whilst using it would be coffins!
No, you risk the seam allowance not being long enough over the point if you trim and then you get a hole or the paper showing through because the fabric isn’t long enough. Hope that helps

Thanks for watching!
Emma - Do you remove your papers from these jewel shapes the same way as hexies? Thanks for another great video❤️
Yes if I use paper I remove it after it has been stitched together. But I mostly use hexiform which is left inside
Thanks
Thank you so so much Wendy! That’s so kind of you and very much appreciated 🤗
Emma, you do such a lovely job with your videos. Question: do you use other stitches besides the whip stitch?
I only use whip stitch to sew them together. I use other stitches for quilting, embroidery etc 😊🌸
Thank you I lost my templates can’t find them anywhere so I’m desperate trying to figure this out
Great video, thank you Emma. Do you mix quilting cottons with your tana lawn fabric? 👍
Yes I do all the time, I like the scrappy look you get when doing that 😊
I love the hexi jewel. I’m having trouble finding your shop to purchase template or paper shapes. Help!!
I don’t sell templates or paper shapes in my shop I’m afraid, I sell fabrics, needles and threads etc. the website is www.vintagesewingbox.co.uk
Hi Emma how do I get my free jewel shapes love your work your a great teacher ❤❤
Thank you. There’s a link in the video description for my website and the sign up is at the bottom of the homepage 😊
I am not able to find the sign up for the free jewel pieces. @@emmajonesvintagesewingbox
How do I sign up for your newsletter?
If you go to my website the sign up is at the bottom of the homepage 😊
@@emmajonesvintagesewingbox❤
do you remove the papers after you have glued them in?
If I use paper then yes, after it’s been stitched together. But I mostly use hexiform which is left inside
Thank you so much
Love the videos you are so creative
❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️🦋
Where do you get your jewel shaped cutouts
I made my own or bought hexiform ones from Ashmead Designs
❤👍👍
I've never seen you make any patchwork using coffins, it's strange that younger maker's don't seem to use this old template any more.
It’s not a shape I like I’m afraid, I like thinking of nice things while I’m stitching and I think all I would think about whilst using it would be coffins!
Well, it's just a name, it's not the shape of a coffin is it!
Why wouldn’t you trim off the dog ears? Wouldn’t that make it easier to stitch?
No, you risk the seam allowance not being long enough over the point if you trim and then you get a hole or the paper showing through because the fabric isn’t long enough. Hope that helps
