I was so bummed when you mentioned that the medallion came from an English shop. Sometimes my brain does not always work :-) so thank you so much for mentioning that you can use any fabric for the middle. I had an aha! moment and remembered that I do have a really nice piece of fabric that I can use for a similar project, albeit on a smaller scale. Your quilt looks so fresh. Can't wait to see the finished project.

I get what you mean about surrounding yourself with things that bring you joy and comfort during the dark days and nights of winter. With the time change here, it is starting to get dark at 5:00pm.
