    I started watching your channel for your beautiful hand work which I still love very much. However I think I watch it now just as much for you. You are such a beautiful person inside and out. I have had a long hard sad week and watching your channel makes me feel like I’m sitting down with a dear friend and it has been a balm to my tired soul. Thank you very much for being such a kind gentle person. Can’t wait to see your amazing hexagon quilt finished.

    You have done the original maker very proud! My very first quilt was made in the late 80's. It was hand pieced and hand quilted and also a hexagon shape, although each block was a star instead of a flower. I made it for my square kitchen table. I still have it. This series of videos brought back many memories. I have made dozens upon dozens of quilts since but mostly by machine. I just recently started hand piecing and hand quilting again. So nice to see younger people interested in this nearly lost art. Thank you for sharing this treasure!

    Fantastic, I have about 60 hexagons flowers and you have given me encouragement to finish. I just need about 17 more to go. Thank you, you are so sweet. Love your videos. Keep up the great work🪡🫶🏼🧵👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    After seeing Kate's (The Last Homely House) "Agnes epp quilt" I fell in love with the colour wash technique & sewed hundreds of 1 inch epp hexies. I don't have a design board & so fell out of love with the idea (squirrel brain !) but your 80s quilt top has spurred me on to be more diligent so that my unloved hexies don't end up being thrown away once I kick the bucket 😂 Merci beaucoup for your dedication ma belle xxxx

    I like how the flowers are attached by having background pieces stitched every other side to one hex flower. I’m doing similar quilt without papers though but can’t decide how to join them. I’d thought of that method as you have but hadn’t seen one to know how it looks! 😊

    Hi Rachel! I love this quilt! I do have a tip..if you do your handstitch from bottom to top or left to right (away from you basically) rather than top to bottom or right to left you could get stitches straight rather than diagonal you should be able to tighten those up and get a stronger seam. I had the same problem and it took me awhile to get my epp to where the stitches didn't show on the front and much stronger. Close stitches help as well. I sew about 20 stitches per inch. (USA lol). I don't know the conversion. I hope this helps. I don't want you to think I am telling you what to do it's only a tip. I learned alot from Kate at the last homely house as well.😊 Happy Stitching 🪡🧵💕

    Your Hexi quilt is just beautiful and I now how much work you put into it. I made a Hexi to fit a my queen size bed and I promised NOT to make another they take hours and hours to make. Your colors are great and I love the back color and your sewing is better than a sewing machine could do. It couldn't be better with your tiny stitches and it looks delicate. You have many years to enjoy it.

    Lovely; great idea to make it the shape of a hexi; thanks for sharing. Have used Best Press for years; -- it's a starch alternative; it doesn't get the fabric as stiff as a good starch, but it does get it firm enough to help get accurate cuts & severely reduces fraying of quality fabrics (I doubt anything will help low-quality fabrics) during cutting and handling. I have recently tried to make a DIY starch with distilled water and vodka (1:1 ratio) and it was lacking when compared to Best Press.

    • @stitchwithrachel
      @stitchwithrachel  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's good to know! I bet it didn't smell as good as press best either 🤣 I have found it's really good at helping your blocks to lay flat is they are abit bumpy too

    • @TheHawkeyeQuilter
      @TheHawkeyeQuilter 6 месяцев назад

      @@stitchwithrachel no it didn't smell as good -- though I usually use scent-free Best Press .... but it did taste better! 😂 Best Press, a hot iron & a clapper = blocks lie flat nicely.
